Sugimori Blocking Fans Who Tweet “Leaked” Starter Evolutions?

sugimori-blockReports have come in of Twitter users being blocked by Ken Sugimori, the art director of the Pokémon franchise, for inquiring about or sending pictures of the previously covered starter evolutions. Although there is absolutely no confirmation that these starter evolutions have any legitimacy, it is interesting that he’d go so far as to block people if they were fake or fan creations. I’d also like to take a moment to ask you not to tweet at him because doing so is going to have no positive outcome for you or our community.

What do you think? Is this another clue pointing that they’re legit? Thanks for the tip Zeroken! Remember you can contact us any time if you see news!

    • Something tells me new megas will be locked behind the game. They have too many new features and locations to cover to waste time on them.

      Reply
      • So like a post game thing? Cause thatd be a great idea for a quest or something. Maybe have each stone guarded by a trainer with the mega in question as their signature pokemon.

        Reply
        • Yeah I dont think we’ll see any until the post game. I could be wrong but I dont see them featuring mega evolution in every main storyline from here on out.

          Reply
          • I more or less agree, for X/Y it made sense because the professor was studying them. But I feel like they’re too integrated in the series now to make it a post-game feature. Because if there’s new ones, players will want to have it in their team and use it against the E4. Like you said though, I could be wrong.

          • I’m still trying to wrap my head around them choosing to introduce megas instead of real evolutions. It just would’ve made things so much more natural and easy

          • Man, wish I could like your comments 9 more times. I’m really hoping it didn’t kill the idea of real evolutions. I mean, Sylveon, sure, but that’s just one pokemon.

          • They know we want them..so they need to give them to us. Perhaps I’m acting entitled but that’s how I feel.

          • My only thought is that if they give regular pokes an actual good evolution and it ends up bad, people will just slap on an Evolite
            My worst fear….Evolite Skarmory……..

          • I really dont like the eviolite…it undermines evolving pokemon which doesn’t seem right to me.

          • I hate it because you can’t enforce item duplicate clauses
So many times Porygon2 and Z and Chansey all on the same team *shudder*
Or the obvious Piloswine and Mamoswine just for a free stealth rocker

          • And don’t get me started on Little Cup
Because of that little thing Mienfoo basically destroys as it pleases

          • I never use it, but I can see why people like it. It justifies unevolved pokemon. Before eviolite they were just written off. So now if your pokemon is unevolved, you can still use it… But yeah, I dread the thought of Eviolite Skarmory x.0

          • I mean Dusclops is pure evil on its own but if you don’t have a Knock Off you are so effing screwed
And that goes double dealing with Chansey

          • Hey it’s real. My problem with megas is that I feel like the creators feel like theyre substitutes for new pokemon which contributed to a low Gen VI number of pokemon

          • Agreed, I’m annoyed that Houndoom is stuck without an evo =.= I always wanted it to become like Cerberus

          • Man I would be completely down with that idea x3 It would be my new favorite… How do fans come up with better ideas than the creators?

          • Ughhhhhhh I hate that thing so much…. I want to take it by the feelers, slam it into a fire hydrant and hogtie it with said feelers and leave it in a dumpster

      • I just have no idea why they would have it be such an integrated feature complete with mega evolution specials on tv, and then ditch them almost completely the new gen. Every gen adds things to the battle scene (weather, abilities, etc) and none that I know of have scrapped an idea.

  1. What is everyone’s plan for release, pertaining to leaks and info? I stayed around for XY leaks, but I feel like I would’ve had more fun if it’d been a surprise. So this time, I’m going to avoid the internet completely for two weeks in advance of SM, and not come back until I finish the games and explore the post game extensively. It’ll be tough, but I’m determined to avoid spoilers, so I hope that it’s worth it with many surprises in game.

    Reply
    • I’m going completely offline once I see that somebody has gotten the game early because it’s bound to happen. I’ll probably come back after post-game.

      Reply
      • It’s weird for me, because I don’t want spoilers, so I’m intentionally staying away, but at the same time I’m subconsciously afraid of missing something. XD

        Reply
        • Right. For the last 2 releases I physically locked away all my electronics to reduce the temptation to spoil things right before release. 😛

          Reply
          • I never really thought of myself as addicted to electronics, but thinking about how difficult this’ll be for me made me realize that I probably am.

    • I told myself that before ORAS but I find that knowing info about the game never really detracts from the experience for me.

      Reply
      • I don’t know either way, because I’ve spoiled every release I’ve been genuinely interested in, so this’ll be new for me. Plus with ORAS, all the Megas were revealed pre release, and it’s a remake, so it’s different.

        Reply
    • I’ll still be here xD Hopefully, for this release, unlike the others, I’ll stick around for release and past that. Last two times I had other reasons for going off, but it definitely makes me miss being on.

      Reply
    • I always end up sticking around for everything. sure it’d be nice to go in a little blind, but leaks and run up to the games are so much fun and I can’t stay off the internet anyway lol

      Reply
      • Yeah, definitely agree. Plus most leaks/info we get doesn’t minimize my experience of it. I still react in the same way I normally do. The leaks don’t give away every single detail of the game, and if they do, I don’t look at all of it, so my experience isn’t spoiled because of it.
It’s like that with all media to be honest, movies, books, tv shows, games, etc.

        Reply
        • Exactly. They never reveal all the Pokemon either. X and y was a leaked pokedex. Besides that, I would say your two week plan smart.

          Reply
          • At the end of the day, every person’s different. My dad hates spoilers of any kind, and avoids info about anything. However, as you see, I am the opposite.
It just depends on the person, is all 🙂

          • See, I love this community and I love rumors and speculating. I would rather not have everything spoiled, so a little bit of mystery is welcome!

      • I have to weigh my options here. Sure, the leaks were a lot of fun, but having a Pokemon be a complete surprise would be fun as well.

        Reply
        • I forgot to add that I’ve never went into a Pokemon game without knowing every detail of it, so it’d be a new experience for me.

          Reply
          • I think the only time I went in totally blind was Diamond. Sure, it was kind of fun, and it was what I needed to get back into the series with the love I have now, but with the way I am now, I don’t mind not going in blind. I’m glad for that experience, and I definitely think you should at least do it once, but it’s something that I will probably never do again.
But maybe you’ll like doing it and keep doing it 🙂 I think you should try it once, just to have that experience.

          • If it’s anything like ORAS though, and there is little surprise involved, or if I miss the surprise, I will have felt like I wasted the time. XY leak season was tons of fun, though I think I’ll try to get the surprise element.

          • It’s totally up to you, and you still got some time before it really happens, so take your time and think about it :3

          • Yeah, remembering leak season of XY makes me rethink my decision, but you’re right, I still have plenty of time to think about it.

  2. Hey y’all, quick question, did anyone else see that “leak” yesterday on /vp/ about tomorrow where the guy presented some very convincing pokemon descriptions? There was a Fire/Ground one shaped like a star named Mokuto (I only remember it cause I found it so funny xD). If you saw it, what do you think?

    Reply
    • I honestly hope it’s real, but I highly doubt it because of all the typos and syntactical errors. I especially love the sea cucumber ‘mon.

      Reply
      • And by the looks of it, the real evolutions for the starters would be the leaked ones (who I absolutely love); very much hype indeed.

        Reply
    • Every release period I get tricked once by a leak on vp. It’s already happened so I no longer believe anything from them until they can somehow regain my trust with something coming true. Until then vp has got nothing…lol

      Reply
    • Sounds great, but the starter evolutions seem too convenient to be true. All of the middle evolutions contain elements that relate directly to the starter leaks? Does that hold true for any other starter trio?

      Reply
        • There are multiple examples, but never have all three starters in a single generation done that (as far as I’m concerned). Frogadier is an entirely separate entity from Greninja, you couldn’t really tell what it would evolve into. I’m not 100% sure this is fake, but it seems like it to me.

          Reply
          • I will say though, I am feeling like version exclusives and starter evolutions are pretty likely for this info dump. Strange that they both appear on this leak.

          • Unless the final starter leaks are real and they feel like they have nothing to lose at this point, I feel that getting stater evos is a highly unlikely prediction, though we are getting close.

      • Well the way I see it, they do have similarities to the leaked final evos, but those leaked evos also have an unique aspect that coudn’t be predicted by reading the middle stage descriptions:
Litten > urban cat > wrestler
Rowlet > goofy owl > moody archer
Popplio > entertainer seal > siren

        Reply
    • I mean, seems very detailed. And either someone had way too much time on their hands (I don’t see too many flaws with the leak) or it’s real.

The sea cucumber mon and the fact that this “leaker” posted exclusive Pokemon is something worth noting. Then again, the starter evos sound WAY too predictable.

  3. I has an idea for a new Rock/Fighting type
    Monolift
Imagine a short, stout stone ape like creature with huge hands and arms, hoisting a huge boulder
They train their arms by trying to find and lift the heaviest objects around, if they don’t find objects to lift they become easily agitated

    Reply
    • Earthen how do you feel about the steel type? It generally gets grouped in with the ground and rock types but you don’t really ever talk about it.

      Reply
      • I often contemplate my relationship with Steel types, honestly outside Excadrill and maybe Aggron I really don’t use steel types

        Reply
  4. What would you guys name the final starter evolutions (assuming the leak is real)? I cannot stand the supposed leaked names, so I thought I’d come
    up with my own.

Rowlet 3 – Archoot (Archer + hoot. It also sounds like shoot)
Litten 3 – Litigre (Lit + libre + misspelling of tiger)
Popplio 3 – Marmeid (Mar, meaning ocean + misspelling of mermaid)

  5. Does anyone know if the information will be a video or will it be just a site update ? I’m not sure if it has been said yet. Thanks

  6. A bit off this topic, but if Mega Dragonite were to be a thing, what typing do you all like it to be? My vote is for Dragon/Water

  7. Please be considerate when playing Pokemon GO. My brother and I were taking gyms from each other to gain exp, so we were putting low cp Pokemon on. Then some people drove by and made fun of my brother for putting on a CP 27 Squirtle, and drove off laughing. Instead of “watch where you’re going” warning, there should be a “please be considerate” warning.

    Reply
    • Wait…..so let me get this straight…..they weren’t making fun of you BECAUSE you were playing Pokemon……they were making fun of HOW you were playing Pokemon……sheesh now I’ve heard it all. Would that make them even bigger nerds than the average nerd do you think? lol Like come on man…..You should have chased after them with a big stick hahahaha

      Reply
      • Oh no, they were playing too. They took the gym, though it wasn’t a big deal, it threw off the cycle and wasted some lucky egg time.

        Reply
        • Still sucky. I can’t say I like random people making fun of others for their interests, but people that make fun of others that have the SAME interest annoys me more. Like what makes them so great? They’re still f’ing nerds driving around playing Pokemon. Someday they’ll likely get what’s coming to them lol

          • These types of players make me appreciate our little community more. I’m glad that we have a place where we can share our hobby and not be ridiculed for what we do. Thanks everyone for making this such a great place! 😀

    • In addition, you shouldn’t put a Pokemon with an inappropriate name in a gym because younger children could very easily see it.

    • Ugh.

This is why I hate people like this. First they make fun of people for playing pokemon. Then they make fun of you for playing pokemon wrong. EXCEPT YOU’RE NOT WRONG. You are playing the way you want to play and that’s fine!!!

      Reply
      • Believe me I’m not hurt at all, I’m just worried that these types of players will hurt someone, so it needs to stop. Plus, if they’d’ve even known what we were doing, they’d’ve known that this was a good strategy to level up (or maybe they’d find something else to make fun of lol).

        Reply
      • Likely. Not to be assuming, but they didn’t look like they exactly fit the bill of a Pokemon fan (this sounds like stereotyping but still).

        Reply
          • Even the genwunners. On one the first days, my brother and I were out, and we walked by some men, and one muttered to the other “at least this was our generation. I bet they play the new games.” They laughed at us, so I said “hey you’re missing out”, and they snickered and went away. I feel like a bunch of genwunners are playing too, which is great, until they make fun of gen 2-7.

          • Tell me about it. Everyone praises it for being so great because it was the first game, but aside from that, the only one that’s worse is gen 6.

          • I disagree. There only like two Pokemon I dislike from gen 6. Gen 5’s designs had some crappy ones.

          • If we’re talking about Pokemon designs alone, gen 6 was phenomenal, but the generation as a whole was not great.

          • I’m replaying x and I’m trying to not feel too old for the game. It’s hard sometimes.

          • Grrrr…. This is another thing that makes me mad… I hope they add gens 2-7 quick to make people understand gen 1 is not the best.

    • The experience gain from that is kinda low compared to walking around in a 5-minute route around various Pokestops. Or catching tons of weedles, caterpies and pidgeys then evolve them all at once with a Lucky Egg up.

Though for sitting around in the same place, it is pretty good.

  8. While we wait, I wanted to ask another commenter related question. If you had to assign some of the commenters on pokejungle to become a gym leader based on their personality or any number of factors, what would their type be?

  9. I would’ve been perfectly okay with the new pokemon go update if they had allowed pokevision to stay up and it would’ve been a lot better if they had communicated with their fans

  11. Maybe they’re holding off on the announcement of some types because they’re starter secondary typings.

We have Dark and Ice with 0 Pokemon revealed so far, and Ground and Fighting with 1 Pokemon revealed so far. (Well there’s Dragon too with 1, but I doubt any starter will be assigned Dragon type unless it’s a Mega.)

  12. I am pretty sure an Ice type is gonna be revealed tomorrow, or at least in CoroCoro since the South Island is planned to be explained, and the South island has the ice area. Hopefully it’s an offensive Ice type! Ice type is NOT a defensive type, GameFreak, so stop trying it!! I have always wanted a snowman pokemon. Maybe something like Chilly from Kirby (http://www.kirbysrainbowresort.net/info/anime/characters/hnm/chilly.jpg )
What type of ice types would you guys like to see?

    Reply
    • LOL ummm I’m pretty sure that since there the ones that MAKE the games, they’re the ones that get to decide weather or not Ice type is defensive, or offensive. 🙂

But yeah, I would like to see a wolf ice type, and possibly a snow leopard. Or perhaps, sticking with the Hawaiian theme how about an ice rodent? 🙂

      Reply
      • I mean I guess, but since Ice is only resistant against itself AND it has 4 weaknesses (2 of which common), I think it’s pretty safe to say it’s not built to be offensive. They may want it defensive but it doesn’t work that way for it.

        Reply
    • I know this is a late reply to this question, but i’d like to see an ice/fighting peacock. I think that’d be super beautiful.

      Reply
    • I would love it if we get an updated the chart along with the new ice type that they hopefully reveal. Because I think it would be awesome if they buff ice. Give it maybe resistance to dragon and water…. And also maybe super effective against bug….
