7/19 Pokémon Sun & Moon Update

Just under three weeks since the last Pokémon Company reveal, we’re getting another Pokémon Sun & Moon update today! We’re not entirely sure what to expect, though we could see the two new Pokémon revealed in Corocoro make an appearance and maybe more!

A new trailer has been released in both English and Japanese!

New Details and Information

Pokémon

  • Bounsweet the Grass type Pokémon
  • Bewear Normal/Fighting type, can have the new Fluffy Ability that halves the damage taken from attacks that make direct contact, but in return it also doubles the damage taken from Fire-type moves
  • Comfey a Fairy type Pokémon that can have the Triage ability which means this Pokémon’s restorative moves gain the highest priority in battle
  • Mudsdale a Ground type horse Pokémon. Mudsdale can have the new Stamina Ability which means the Pokémon’s Defense goes up by 1 when it’s hit by an attack
  • Wimpod is a Water/Bug type Pokémon that has the Wimp Out ability; upon reaching 50% HP it will run away or switch with another Pokémon during battle!
  • Mimikyu is a Ghost/Fairy type Pokémon with the new ability Disguise; upon entering battle its disguise will take the first attack for it (no confirmation whether this is affected by contact hits or not)

Game Mechanics

  • Pokémon can now access ‘Hyper Training’ which allows for IVs to be raised for the first time ever. This is accessible at level 100 and uses ‘bottle caps’. No word if you can transfer them over from Fallout.
  • You can now host tournaments on the Global Link!

  1. I can already foresee my Mudsdale’s Personality
Very stoic but quiet, but shows a great pride in pulling the heaviest payloads,
I freaking hope it gets a prevo, because if all goes right this would be my Ground Mono Main for Moon

  2. Ex mea sententia:
Bounsweet is an adorable little mangosteen, I love it!
Bewear’s English name, lol. He looks slightly better in game…
Mimikyu is adorable and amazing and I love it SO MUCH!!!
Comfey is ok… It’s just a mix of klefki and flebebe though….
Wimpod is odd… But I like it 🙂
    Mudsdale is awesome! That’s all…
In conclusion this generations pokedex is shaping up to be a really fun set! I can’t wait to catch ’em all!

  3. EARTHEN THEORY
    if Mudsdale gets bulk up
Put a Sitrus berry or Weakness Policy
Bulk up the first turn, get hit by physical attack Stamina increases defense
Stomp the opponents into the dirt

  4. I imagine Mimikyu will be more of a support pokemon in Gen 7 so it won’t be particularly useful in game, but be far more useful in competitive.

Unless it’s deceived me and it has some monstrous stats.

  5. – Wimpod: I like the colors and overall design
    – Mudsdale: Epic design resembling Greek sculptures and great hair-do with the dreadlocks
    – Comfey: a B-Pokemon that seems to be a filler from XY
    – Bounsweet: reminds me of Cherrim Overcast form and hopefully it gets an evolution akin to Swadloon –> Leavanny (one of my favorite, if not my favorite Grass lines)

  7. I want to see art of Bewear hugging Mudsdale, and Mudsdale’s Stamina activates rapidly. (in the bg you see +1, +1, +1… on top of each other as Mudsdale is struggling)

Like a tug-o-war between Mudsdale’s Stamina ability, and Bewear’s supposed strength to break anything in two.

  8. i just realized that whoever said silver fish, its actually not a bad thought. its bug/water and the pod could come from hexapod since silver fish are insects

  9. I want the riding Pokemon to be apart of a chase scene with the villainous team: your player just hijacked one of the villainous team’s plans and thus has to make an escape. Your friends Lillie and Hau rally you to get on one of your Pokemon as you guys ride off followed by an angry mob of grunts.

  11. I’ve really been enjoying the battle backgrounds in this game! They all have so much more detail than the ones in gen 6 and they look great!

  12. I like the marketing tactic for Pokemon Sun/Moon so far. They’re giving us glimpses of the many new features available in Sun/Moon and distracting our minds with new batches of Pokemon revealed every month while keeping tight wraps on the story and villainous team. Plus, they’ve only revealed stage one or Pokemon that appear to be standalone, keeping their evolution a secret. Of course there are exceptions such as the Grubbin line and eventually the starters and Mudsdale and Bewear looking as though they have a pre-evolution.

  13. I’m getting vibes from Gen 2, 3, and 6 in this game. But it feels like every other video has good mons or bad mons.
