Just under three weeks since the last Pokémon Company reveal, we’re getting another Pokémon Sun & Moon update today! We’re not entirely sure what to expect, though we could see the two new Pokémon revealed in Corocoro make an appearance and maybe more!
A new trailer has been released in both English and Japanese!
New Details and Information
Pokémon
- Bounsweet the Grass type Pokémon
- Bewear Normal/Fighting type, can have the new Fluffy Ability that halves the damage taken from attacks that make direct contact, but in return it also doubles the damage taken from Fire-type moves
- Comfey a Fairy type Pokémon that can have the Triage ability which means this Pokémon’s restorative moves gain the highest priority in battle
- Mudsdale a Ground type horse Pokémon. Mudsdale can have the new Stamina Ability which means the Pokémon’s Defense goes up by 1 when it’s hit by an attack
- Wimpod is a Water/Bug type Pokémon that has the Wimp Out ability; upon reaching 50% HP it will run away or switch with another Pokémon during battle!
- Mimikyu is a Ghost/Fairy type Pokémon with the new ability Disguise; upon entering battle its disguise will take the first attack for it (no confirmation whether this is affected by contact hits or not)
Game Mechanics
- Pokémon can now access ‘Hyper Training’ which allows for IVs to be raised for the first time ever. This is accessible at level 100 and uses ‘bottle caps’. No word if you can transfer them over from Fallout.
- You can now host tournaments on the Global Link!

I like all the new Pokemon as of now, and it shows that Alola seems to be diverse. Though tbh I’m still amazed we have no gym related info (would love to see a comfirmation if we have gyms, though personally I think we will hut similar to the Orange Islnd Leage or something with them outside platforms all over the place). Also can’t wait to use the new Hyper Training! I wonder if it’ll be part of Super Training?
I’ve seen people alluding to the Orange Island League a lot. I’ve never watched that part of the anime; what’s so different about that league?
Well for starters Ash had special rules to follow in battles as opposed to regular gym battles. But some were like a trial or test of your skill. One particular one I fondly remember was Ash facing a leader doing thay sled ride thing which was part of the winter Olympics. I think the sport is called tabagon racing (correct me if I’m wrong). But if they are like that I’m all in for those gyms lol
That sounds really neat! I’ll have to watch some of that, but I would definitely be alright with having that in-game as well.
Yeah. Those rumors were worrying me a bit but my mates here reminded me of the Orange Island leage and how Alola seems to be like a reboot of GameFreak’s idea (imagine if it was haha wait……)

I always liked darker-skinned female characters. Well Connie ain’t a tomboy (my other kind of favorite female character) but I am fine with that.
Seems that Alola will have more new mons that XY. We already have upwards of twenty, and they are revealing them at such a pace that we have to have a lot of them. Otherwise we wouldn’t get so many so fast.
XY had 70 right? There were rumours of 90 for S/M, seems legit at this point.
If we were told in gen 5 that a gen would have 90 Pokemon, we would’ve thought that was horribly low, but because of XY, 90 seems super high.
Does any of these match the (in)famous leaks that everybody talks about? Because if it does the starters final forms that we’ve seen could be legit.
Awesome! I absolutely love these new additions! Bewear and Mimikyu have grown on me since the leaks, so that’s a plus. Very hyped to see what else we have in store this generation.
I’m starting to get suspicious that the people that love all the Alola Pokemon are faking it lol. I dislike so many it’s hard to imagine how people like all of them.

I honestly like all of them except a few of the new ones. However, once I’ve drawn a Pokemon, I’m much more inclined to like it, so I’ll probably like them all eventually!

Different tastes I guess. Not all gens are created equal, but maybe we are getting an off gen (to me) because gen 6 Pokemon were amazing.
I liked gen 6 too. I think the thing about these new Pokemon is that they ARE really different design wise compared to Pokemon we’ve gotten in the past. they have a different feeling to them. It’s not bad or good, it’s just different lol
Bruxish is a no no lol I can’t get pass the human lips for some reason. The coloration feels off as well. Everything else has been pretty awesome.
But Bruxish will evolve into something fierce, so we’ll let it slide!

I don’t like all of them, personally. But it’s nice to have a unique roster to choose from. The designs drastically differ from one another, and are unlike many things we have seen before. For the first time before a Pokemon game comes out, I’m having difficulty planning out my team!
does anyone know, can mimikyu attack the turn it activates disguise?
I think it’s there already at the start. And I expect it to be something restrictive like once per match.

Well I’m guessing it is pre-activated. Then Mimikyu will have a neck problem for the rest of the match after taking a hit… 🙁
I think Mimikyu’s true body ends before the neck, since its eyes seem to be the two black dots on the pika-garb’s stomach

i really love these new pokemon, mimikyu is still cute, bewear is still my monzaemon. bounsweet is adorable, mudsdale is awesome, comfey is the new flabebe, and wimpod is actually somewhat cute too for a bug

Well the Nidorans can’t dig in Gen 1… they added dig to the nidos in gen 3 but as of now I can’t think of any ground-type that can’t dig.

for quadrupeds like Ninetales is understandable (foxes can dig even some flying bugs), but not for horses

It would be cool, although the water typing makes me think it won’t happen. Unrelated, but we really need some kind of assassin bug pokemon, those things are awesome. It could be Bug/Poison or Bug/Dark with an ability to poison the foe.
Yeah it probably won’t happen, but if it did I would definitely have it on my team. As you said, we really need more cool bug types (I’m very happy that we got Vikavolt though). Bug/dark would be such a nice typing.

So I’m hoping for a cool steel type I can use in-game, won’t be too disappointed if I don’t get one though. Can’t really afford another ground weakness on the team anyway.
Granted my Rowlets gonna end up being the saving grace for the rest of my team at this rate. Resisting Waters and Immune to Ground.
Also those who think Bounsweet is going to end up a flying type you’re wrong
When running away from other Pokémon, Bounsweet flees danger by skipping along the ground. Since its bouncy movements don’t convey to others that it’s actually in desperate flight, no one ever comes to its aid.
Not flight as in flying more like fight or flight in fear since it’s being chased down

I can’t see myself using any of these Pokemon at all. Bewear looks ridiculous next to pangaro and their both bear Pokemon ? I kinda like the horse but it’s kinda over design and basic at the same time. So far my team is KWEEN LITteen, zikavolt and pikiGOD. Hopefully they reveal more water Pokemon and fire Pokemon and dragon Pokemon soon.
I am very happy about Hyper Training, now we will have an alternative for IV breeding, bringing all those “imperfect” Pokemon we have and make them perfect… and now we will be able to see EVs always 🙂
