7/19 Pokémon Sun & Moon Update

Just under three weeks since the last Pokémon Company reveal, we’re getting another Pokémon Sun & Moon update today! We’re not entirely sure what to expect, though we could see the two new Pokémon revealed in Corocoro make an appearance and maybe more!

A new trailer has been released in both English and Japanese!

New Details and Information

Pokémon

  • Bounsweet the Grass type Pokémon
  • Bewear Normal/Fighting type, can have the new Fluffy Ability that halves the damage taken from attacks that make direct contact, but in return it also doubles the damage taken from Fire-type moves
  • Comfey a Fairy type Pokémon that can have the Triage ability which means this Pokémon’s restorative moves gain the highest priority in battle
  • Mudsdale a Ground type horse Pokémon. Mudsdale can have the new Stamina Ability which means the Pokémon’s Defense goes up by 1 when it’s hit by an attack
  • Wimpod is a Water/Bug type Pokémon that has the Wimp Out ability; upon reaching 50% HP it will run away or switch with another Pokémon during battle!
  • Mimikyu is a Ghost/Fairy type Pokémon with the new ability Disguise; upon entering battle its disguise will take the first attack for it (no confirmation whether this is affected by contact hits or not)

Game Mechanics

  • Pokémon can now access ‘Hyper Training’ which allows for IVs to be raised for the first time ever. This is accessible at level 100 and uses ‘bottle caps’. No word if you can transfer them over from Fallout.
  • You can now host tournaments on the Global Link!

  1. Ugh I hate team building when new gen come out cause:
    1. I only use Pokemon from that gen
    2. Always choose grass, fire, water, electric, flying, scapegoat(HM learner mostly normal type)
    3. No type repeats
    4. Almost all have to be 3 stage evos (exceptions are only if gen doesn’t have 3 evo stage Pokemon of a type example gen 3 swellow)

Why oh why most I do this to myself!!!

  2. This will probably be a story: So I saw a shiny Wimpod and used False Swipe to make it easier to catch…… then it ran away ;~;

  3. I have to say, Mudsdale is actually a very pretty Pokemon, kinda a Arcanine kinda vibe
And not to mention Clydesdales are already very beautiful breeds

    • I don’t like the horse at all. It looks weird, bulky in all the wrongs ways, and it’s typing feels forced to me. Maybe I just don’t understand the influence came from? But yeah I’m really surprised anyone else likes it at all

  4. im laughing at Bounsweet description in the official website. homegirl literally have the worst life in pokemon history

Unfortunately, it’s sometimes swallowed whole by Pokémon drawn to its aroma.

Since its bouncy movements don’t convey to others that it’s actually in desperate flight, no one ever comes to its aid.

When attacked by enemies, it drives them off by rotating the calyx on its head. The downside is how dizzy it gets afterward!

  5. Anybody else feel like theyre trying to shake up the competitive battling world with these new abilities? In the past, it felt like they introduced new abilities to cover things, make pokemon stronger and/or for gimmicks. However, for some reason, in this gen I feel like the abilities are directly aimed towards competitive battling. Anyone else get that feeling?

    • I agree. A lot of these abilities are gunna shake up the competative battling a whole lot. Fingers crossed for 6v6 in battle spot.

  6. Off topic, but Mr. Greg (tonight’s episode) was one of the best episodes I’ve seen. (Minor Spoilers) They finally fixed Pearl and Greg’s horrible relationship and it had great songs.

  7. PSA!

Bewear (hehe never getting tired of that pun) scam sites have taken advantage of Pokemon GO. I found one saying something like to apologize for the servers, here is 16,000 poke coins. Click here to claim them! Might be kinda obvious, but just felt I should point this out.

  9. Hey guys. Does anyone remember seeing where game freak showed the empty spaces for the starters evolutions on the Rotodex? I remember seeing the final Litten evo and it was a really tall rectangle so that may give weight to the Chinese rumour. I don’t remember where I saw that though !

  10. Also. . . I like these Pokemon.. I just don’t know who I would want on my team. Maybe ill have to wait for the stats

  11. That’s the thing…
I usually just level everything to 50+ for competitive and if I want to use the service you must painstakingly grind to 100 and then spend currently to increase ivs

Honestly I think just regular IV breeding is fine for me, I usually like some excess for WT

    • now there is no excuse for powersaves or PKHex, I will openly enjoy raising my pokemon to lv.100, it will take far less time than breeding for perfect IV’s

  12. Mudsdale speculation:

-The best design of these for me is Mudsdale ,color is awesome as well.
-Highhorse Power looks depend on weight like heavy slam.
-the best part of his dex entry and making pkmn world more realistic is ” the power of each hoof-clop can dig out huge holes, even in asphalt. Mudsdale is forbidden to run on some of Alola’s public roads.”

Q- The real Draft Horse an original species or crossbred one? http://pre08.deviantart.net/bdae/th/pre/i/2016/201/5/c/mudsdale_by_galopawxy-daaqqjo.jpg

  13. I was thinking about unique evolutions that could be introduced, and I remembered Sylveon’s involvement with Amie and thought maybe something similar to that could be seen. We know we have a grooming feature, so I’m going to take a wild guess and say you might be able to use the blow dryer to remove Mimikyu’s cloth.

  14. I just cannot get over how freaking heavy Mudsdale is
Freaking 2 thousand and 28 pounds that is insane
It is currently the forth heaviest Pokemon in history only beating it is Mega Metagross and both normal and primal Groudon

Oh I am going to hate Grass Knot even more, and those Low Kick Weavile

  15. ………….I just had a thought
Why didn’t they name Mudsdale Claysdale…….? It has that terra cotta coloring and the clay sounds like clydes
    My brain is imploding
