August CoroCoro Leaking {UPD1}

The latest edition of Japanese comic magazine CoroCoro has been leaked and we are currently translating it for any new information 🙂

  • Bear is called Kiteruguma. It is described as cute yet deadly. It is classified as the powerful-arms Pokémon. It’s hug is dangerously strong and people in the Alola region regularly put warning signs out. It is Normal/Fighting with abilities Fluffy/Klutz. It’s name is possibly a play on words for “to wear” and “it’s here!”
  • Deflated Pikachu-esque Pokémon is Mimikkyu. It is a Ghost/Fairy type with the ability Disguise and is said to lurk in the darkness. It is classified as the bakenokawa (a veil hiding a monster) Pokémon. The body is black and the Pikachu-looking part is actually cloth-like and covers it from the sun. The article warns people about looking under its veil. It’s name seems to come from ears, mimic and ~kkyu (cute/timid sounding),
    UPD1: A clearer scan of a section with Mimikkyu’s information has surfaced: “The reason that Mimikkyu resembles Pikachu…!? It modelled itself after Pikachu goods that were all the rage 20 years ago?! It seems it wants to make friends with humans just like Pikachu“.<3 PJ

  1. The Ghost is starting to grow on me. It’s a nice concept, plus a cool typing. But that Bear is Absolutely Hideous. It’s worse than anything GF has made before. It looks like something straight out of a bad 80’s kids cartoon.

  7. I like the designs. I mean, ya, the ghost/fairy type looks like a half-assed children’s doodle of pikachu, but its description is quite noticeable. And the red panda pokemon kills you with LOVE or just strangles to death. Either or, i see no problem in these designs at all. All of the Alola designs, descriptions, typings, and abilities have been something to look forward to so Im excited!!

  8. These new designs, like the poison/fire one, are demostrations of pure focused creativity; but the target of every pokemon (or group of pokemons) that has been made is different. It’s like the designers team is directing a bunch of very unique ideas and concepts onto a pokemon or group of pokemon in relation to new standarts of the consumer. This probably happened easily since gen 4 or 5, but I see it clearly in gen 7. The pink bear is an average “absurd/cute” creature, with that derp look that makes it meme material, and that probably is a mix of these “adorable” traits & brutal force with makes it comical. It’s been made for younger players with are more adapted to anime. The fire/poison one, on the other hand, is the opposite: a perfectly shaped, animal-esque creature with enough work and story put on it so it doesnt resemble a real life animal, not too complex to look like a digimon, elegantly and naturally colored. I would say it’s the kind of design that is made for old gen players.

    The fairy ghost is a marvelous concept. Some of the coolest pokemon made share the disguise theme, like ditto and zoroark. I’m hoping it gets a surprising evolution and competitive traits.

  9. Is it possible that more is to come? I know that the last Corocoro reveal was only two, and the big reveals are saved for gameplay video releases, but isn’t three pages a bit small for a Pokemon reveal?

  10. I really want time exclusive pokemon. Like Pokemon that exclusively come out at night and day. If we’ve had them in the last few games it wasn’t noticeable.

  11. The bear reminds me of something I remember doing as a kid. Did anyone else bite off the heads of gummy bears and “splice” them together? This Pokemon’s pink head and black body are giving me that vibe and I can’t overlook that now.

  14. Mimikkyu has 2 weaknesses, 1 resistance (which is 4x resisted), and 3 immunities. I’m not sure how to evaluate that….maybe once we know what Disguise does it’ll be easier to evaluate.

    Will it be able to disguise itself as many different pokemon,or only pikachu?

          • If what that one person showed the other day Poison and Steel are next and rockruff is not an Eevee it evolves

          • Yeah Rockruff evolves but so does Eevee. Rockruff runs off until it finishes evolution, which means it could pick what it evolves into. Its just a theory. Besides, I’d be more surprised even we even got a new Eeveelution this Gen.

          • Oh I thought you meant it was an Eeveelution my bad I had dream once that might have told the future it showed a Poison, Steel, and Ground Eeveelution on the official site near the trainers those were good looking Eeveelutions

  23. I like all these abilities dont get me wrong, but its so annoying when they have abilities for just one pokemon. Its understandable for legends. But i dont like it in other pokemon its just annoying. This doesnt take away from these pokemon i just thought that i would share how i felt on the topic

    • I think these abilities will be applicable to more than just one Pokemon. Maybe past Gen Pokemon will receive some of these abilities as HA or other Alola region Pokemon will have similar abilities. They can’t possibly create 100+ new abilities exclusive to just one Pokemon.

    • A pokemons special ability is what makes it valuable. If a bunch of different pokes could all learn the same amazing ability, it wouldn’t really be all that amazing now would it? This is suppose to be a competitive game at the end of the day, don’t forget.

  25. I just saw a post on Tumblr saying that the ghost’s English name should be Pikaboo, and I can’t agree more! Do you all have any other ideas of English names for these two?
