A Chinese rumor about Pokémon Sun & Moon has seemingly gained credibility after predicting a Poison/Fire-type Pokémon which was fulfilled with the reveal of Salandit. You can read it below, translated by Cresselia~~ of Smogon Forums.
- There will be no traditional Gyms and no Pokémon League in Alola. Your goal is to actually create one. After you do, an Elite 4 will appear which are the leaders of each island
- The final starter evolutions will be an Archer, a Wrestler and a Siren
- The diamond stones will be collectible throughout the region and act similarly to Mega Stones but not exactly
- New Pokémon based on a dolphin, sea cucumber, snowman, mushroom and a rugby monkey are there
- Rockruff’s evolution is a Werewolf
- Mashadow, another copyrighted Pokémon name, has a very unique type combo
In addition, it seems that the majority of the images of the “leaked” starters (seen above) have mysteriously disappeared from Google image search. There is no way of knowing but it is possible official takedown notices have been sent to have them removed from search results. This is a warning: I may soon remove the images myself.

I think they would have some kind of secrecy policy in which if they catch you sayng something they will cut your salary or something to avoid tha hehe still it is a possibility

I choose to believe the rumors we have right now. They may not all come true, but I think the sources are legit. I usually keep myself pretty reserved when it comes to stuff like this, but these are quite odd rumors and I think those kinds of rumors tend to lend themselves better than those that are the typical dregs. Either way I think all will become clear in the next week or so. We are in an interesting and fun time here people. Just remember that at the end of the day we should all still be friends! I’m not going to believe or disbelieve anything just yet, but I will say I wouldn’t be disappointed if these turn out to be true. I think it would be fun to make gyms as long as we can truly pick anyone to be the Leaders and they’re not all pre-planned. And as for the starters, my only problem is that I’d choose Popplio despite rooting for Litten previously. Overall though, I just really want a sea cucumber, so I’m crossing my fingers. :p

I don’t believe everything from the rumours, because I don’t really know the fill extent of them just yet….not reading through the entire thread.
But a new formula with no gyms and e4 is something I would welcome. The idea of each island consisting of a ‘leader’ who you have to beat is something I’ve mentioned before…and would be happy to see.
As for the Pokemon leaks, they are whatever, we only have supposed names and types which I don’t really care much about. Give me abilities, stats, move pools and then we can talk.
Here’s some more rumours/leaks guys: Litten WON’T become shit it will stay quadrupedal. You will get a dolphin Pokemon. There are only two crystals and they are used for a special move for certain mons the crystal you get is simply based on game. The gyms and E4 etc are still in tact. Mega evolution is gone because it was stupid. Pokemon will follow you. You can ride only a select couple Pokemon still. Your trainer is fully customizable. The artificial island is the E4 island. Battle Royal will not be part of the main story, just a multiplayer mode. Rockruff does become a werewolf and is the only evolution for it. Becomes part Dark type. Litten stays pure Fire. Rowlet stays Grass/Flying. Popplio becomes part Fairy. Magearna is not involved in the story. There are no synchros and Ash-Greninja will not be in the game. There will be more than 100 new mons.

You know, mega evolution never would’ve been necessary if instead of designing an entire new convoluted yet temporary mechanic, they just gave pokemon stat boosts and actual evolutions…

Is anyone else having an issue with the gyms in Pokemon GO? I challenged one earlier, and I could not get the last Pokemon below one HP. It got down to minimum health, and I couldn’t kill it. Just now, my brother had the same issue. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this, and help is appreciated.
Earlier, I successfully defeated a gym. I went to repeat and take it over, but it would say “Battle 1… GO!” and then kick me out. That was about 30 minutes ago

And I don’t think there’s a connection between Go and the main games in that sense seeing as how the battling system is different. It was implemented to make it more like real life – while the main games are obviously fantasy

Matsumiya literally said they were visualized at 16. Which means that they were planned to be older than other protagonists, as stated by CoroCoro. Their designes also appear alot older than previously and Gen 5 was the “reboot” gen.
Initially visualized doesn’t mean shit though. Look at Shinobu she looks 8 or so and is like hundreds of years old. And they were “planned” doesn’t mean shit either and Corocoro doesn’t know shit. And who cares if it was the “reboot” gen. So was XY.

The purpose of the game has always been to travel around and beat the 8 Gyms and League and the villainous team. Not create your own Gyms and League. It’s just bs and I’m on the fence about this still. But if the rumors are true, then I’ll try to accept the change and hopefully it is executed properly if so. But if not, I’ll be retiring from the series after Sun and Moon.
I agree with you on the fact that it is sort of a core purpose of the game, but I feel that doesn’t mean it can’t be changed up a little.

Maybe it it’s true, it means that the leaders will be more pivotal in the story – a lil how the leaders in BW were more involved.
You find a volcano fanatic and you convince him to become the fire type leader in his city, then fight him
You come across a steel type trainer who’s sad and looking for a new challenge so you persuade him to a battle which relights his fire etc (lots of ways to do it)
There is a lot of potential if they can pull it off correctly. There’s 8 default Gym Leaders scattered around Alola possibly and you have to find them all and convince to fill the post of a vacant Gym.
Point is, don’t think of it in a negative way, that it’ll turn into an aimless story where you do nothing.
This is the 20th anniversary game, people didn’t like Megas at first but it really shook up the meta and it’s made things exciting.

The teaser trailer says “It all comes together”. I just can’t shake that line and see them getting rid of such an old tradition, but that’s just me. If the leak is true, so be it. Just as long as it is executed properly.

X and Y was a pretty horrible game. I rate it 6/10. Not a lot to do during the game and in post-game. Story was a lame attempt to be good but didn’t get as good as Generation 5 did. Introduced the least amount of Pokemon in any Generation. Used Megas as an excuse I think.
Pretty much every complaint I have. They put all the effort into graphics, which are nice, but there’s only so much a pretty game can do for you. I’d rather replay Omega Ruby than X or Y
Agreed. While most of the Generation 6 Pokemon are designed well, I just feel they wasted those 3 years of development with the graphics transition. I give ORAS a 8/10, mostly for nostalgia purposes and a little bit better executed story, but they also failed on one big point because they gave us the shitty ass Battle Maison instead of the Battle Frontier and just mocked us with an in-game model from the original games of the Battle Tower.
Battle Frontier and no gym/good E4 rematches are a big minus, but the game has SO much more going for it than X&Y do.

I think the excitement over the game will die off though if they don’t roll out better ways to battle and level up pokemon. Seems kinda limited right now. Miitomo is basically dead now because they didn’t introduce more social features and minigames and things.
I heard supposedly they are going to introduce more features in the future. There was an article on Twitter I saw. I personally don’t care much for the game (but I am glad it is doing well at the moment) and didn’t read it. So I don’t have the link.

It’s exciting to see new Pokemon, characters, regions and even other potential changes such as this gym rumour because it means more exploring potentially and a better gameplay experience

The meat of the game is different for everybody. They’re not gonna throw away 20 years of Pokemon for nothing, so I don’t think you have anything to worry about

The meat of the game for some people is the “gotta catch em all” aspect. For some, they really enjoy the meta. They’ve been building up a good story for 2 games, so that’s something to look forward to

Sales have been strong for Pokemon, this little slip up in Go will be resolved and as they release more Pokemon, it will build up the hype.

I remember X and Y and how it was leaked 2 weeks before worldwide release. Masuda-san must of been so upset and disappointed because they wanted the world to experience it for the first time, together, but leakers prevent that. There sadly will always be leakers. But I hope never again on the scale of that severity.

It wouldn’t be Sonic ’06. Sonic Team has sucked ass for years now anyways. And no it wasn’t. First time they showed SM sure.

Sonic ’06 was rushed out the door leaving it broken and unpolished. Same story for Sonic Boom. Games are complicated and they need lots of time to be worked out and debugged. They may show is game play and pokemon, but what they aren’t showing is the various bugs, glitches and crashes that they are spending their time working on.
They say it is in dev so they can make fans wait and use that as an excuse.
You clearly know nothing about game development then.
Games start out with prototyping to test how the game plays while using very little resources. SuMo most likely skipped this since it is a sequel of a long running series with the same gameplay.
Then usually a long period of pre-production. Time to figure out things like the world, characters, systems, mechanics, story, stuff like that.
After that is implementation and asset creation. Actually developing the game. This stuff is the meat of the project.
Afterwards is polish and debugging. This is crucial to a project and is what separates a good, working game from an unholy broken mess. Lots of time is needed.
Then PR and legal stuff. There is a process to getting your game out to players. You cant just sell it. You have to go through retailers and the publisher and all of that stuff.
No step of game development can be rushed. It is all a very important and you cant skip out on any of them

No it freaking isn’t. Pokemon isn’t a tiny indie game. There is work to do or they would’ve released it already. They aren’t “keeping the fans waiting”. You can’t keep developers, artists etc. on standby. They are expensive so they have to be doing stuff. And well, they are still doing stuff. Why can’t you accept the fact that you may actually be wrong about something. Wrong about freaking Pokemon no less.
It is becoming tinier and tinier each game. And it is clearly ready they just want us to wait. Why? Because they hate us.
We are the people who give them money. They NEED us to run their company. They dont hate us. That is just ridiculous.
Plus, content is not necessarily the same as development time. Alot goes into a game than just what you see. They have to be pulling some crazy programming magic to get it to run this good on the 3DS. A system that had trouble running Binding of Issac. Lots of work is going into this so we can get the best possible game.
