  1. poison/electric; poison/metal; poison/rock; poison/metal. those are unusual types that they don’t use often or even don’t use at all.

  2. For people saying this can’t be all of the islands, I counted the Pokémon Centers on the map, and I think it’s very possible that this could be it (and then that island on the right, obviously). From left to right each island has what appears to be 1, 2, 6, and 5 Centers; that’s enough for the eight gym towns and then six others.

      • Larger yes, but I think all the buildings and facilities are present. If you remember the HD Hoenn map we got in the early ORAS days that resembles this one, every building was visible, but yes it was more spread out.

      • I agree. 😀
I spent a whole hour studying the high quality large image of the islands, and I was using my minds eye, to try and figure out just how big the islands really were, by using a mental image of the playable character running around the islands, and I came to the conclusion, that they are probably going to be MUCH larger than they appear in the picture. 😀

    • There’s no doubt in my mind there will be islands post E4 as well. How could GF not capitalize on that? Also you can see some islands hidden by clouds. I also feel they’ll have some big questline like the delta episode, people really liked that

    • Idk but I’m sure alchemy is going to play a role since “mystery science” is a thing. They did genetics with megas so we’ll see how alchemy (or rather chemistry) plays in S&M

  3. One little cool trivia that also holds for Sun and Moon
In all main story pokemon games you have never been able to name a female rival

    Reply
    • Well there’s also how female protagonists didn’t exist until Gen 3, and that’s only when they stopped letting us name rivals.

Did any of you give Gary/Blue unflattering names in Gen 1? 😀

      Reply
      • Nah I always gave them polar opposite names of my trainer in general
        Luster-Dull
        Taichi- Yamato
        Hikari- Yami

        Reply
      • Actually you could select a playable female character for the first time in the gen 2 game Crystal Version. But yeah it was gen 3 where they didn’t let you name your rivals anymore.

LOL I never really named my rivals any thing bad, but my younger brothers on the other hand……. Oh boy. Lets just say its a good thing my mom never payed any attention to our game boy games, other whise they probably would have been banned from playing Pokemon.

  4. This also hasn’t been mentioned much, but I really hope SM have really good music. ORAS music were worse than RSE, some I liked better. But the ones I really liked in RSE weren’t as good. XY Music was pretty good though. Im really looking forward to gym leader music, wild battle rival battle since these are normally the better themes IMO.
I also am looking forward to all these new pokemon since Kukui said it’s “full of nothin’ but rare pokemon.” Hopefully that means at least a lot of new pokemon.
My statement still stands that these islands look small and empty to me. I know normally GF hides post game places by clouds, so there is probably more to it. I just hope the game has a good pace and plenty to do after each gym.
I’m going to this game just to have a good time (not much hopes), so I hope I can at least have a good time
So my question is, what do you guys think is on that artificial island?
My thoughts either Some sort of legendary or the Elite 4

    Reply
    • the only song i remember in XY is the E4 theme. I hope the soundtracks is full of bops that are memorable

      Reply
    • First of all, ORAS had amazing music and you offend me.

Diantha could’ve had the best theme of all time but they fucked that up.

I think we’ll get a Frontier this round. If not, something very similar.

      More hot guys pls.

      Reply
      • First of all Diantha’s theme was awesome so that offends me
Honestly Defensive I am done hoping for Frontier, with their logic there is no reason to ever bring it back, if they do it’ll just be the sinnoh frontier in next years
No need to have my hopes for that to be disappointed again

        Reply
        • It was good until the end of the intro. Then it was disappointment. Tbh Ive never played a game with the Frontier aside from SS so it never really mattered to me. But I feel like they should introduce something new similar to it. If not they just need to bring back the World Tournament so we can see all the gym leaders in all their glory.

          Reply
          • Thatd be nice. Although i think they may just bring back battle tower. Idk just me probably being pessimistic.

          • I honestly like the battle tower feel. I felt like a Pokémon master when I discovered it in Crystal.

    • My top favorite music track from X an Y was the little tune that played in the path way between the town you start your game in, and the town where you get your first Pokemon. 😀 I sat for like a whole hour just listening to that tune. XD

I personally don’t care if it gets much bigger than it is. What I have already seen so fare is good enough for me for exploration, now I’ll just sit back and wait for them to reveal all these “Super rare new Pokemon” I am totally hyped about this, (all Pokemon games really) new game. 😀

      Reply
      • I loved that tune, too, but hated how they made that route sooo insignificantly short. It was literally the length of a driveway. It needed so, so much more especially with that great tune playing.

        Reply
    • Well, first off I LOVED X and Y music. All the crazy unique melodies that make you want to do the waltz. And then you have that rocking Lysandre theme. And of course who can forget Professor Sycamore’s theme. It’s one of the few things that I really liked about Gen 6. The music is orchestral, and holds some of my favorite of the whole franchise.

As for the islands I think that if you look really deep into the whole region you can find a lot of neat things and there’s a TON of exploring to do between gyms (probably :D). But the post game is almost definitely shrouded in clouds, like always.

I really hope the post-game isn’t just Battle Maison or some poop like that. I hope it’s full fledged exploring of a new island maybe, or something like the Delta Episode but longer and not spoiled before we get the games.

  5. What are your guesses for the Gym and E4 types:
    E4: Fairy Poison Psychic Dark
Gyms: Grass Electric Fire Water Fighting Steel Ground Ice

    Reply
    • Not guesses, just what I want:
      E4: Psychic, Fighting, Grass, Fairy
Gyms: Dark, Fighting, Ice, Steel, Fire, Water, Ground, Poison.

      Reply
      • We’re not going to have both a Fighting E4 and a Fighting Gym Leader. We’ve never had a type repeated in a single league, and with eighteen types, there’s no need to do so. Maybe a flying Elite four instead of fighting.

        Reply
        • I somehow missed that, sorry.

I think a flying type E4 member would be neat. We haven’t had one along with Grass/Fairy.

Maybe they could have a Grass/Electric/Flying/Fairy E4, all types we haven’t seen in the league yet.

          Reply
          • All good. I could see the Flying E4’s room being similar to the floating part of the area before victory road in BW.

For Grass, I’m hoping for a Jungle, something like the generic forest, but with vines everywhere.

Electric, all they can really do is a Power Plant tbh

Fairy, a room filled with candy plz.

    • Guesses/wants… in order from first to last.
Gyms: Normal Dark Ice Water Ground Poison Steel Fire
      E4: Flying Ghost Electric Fairy

No Psychic, I’m guessing we’ll have enough of it in the plot that I don’t need a gym for it. <3

    • Gyms: Normal, Grass, Water, Fire, Rock, Steel, Dark, and Ice.
Elite Four: Electric, Psychic, Flying, and Fairy.

      Reply
      • Looks like it. I see a Pokemon center up there and a few other buildings. I get another ice master to look up too although I was hoping ice would be one of the elites and dark would be a gym.

  7. Professor Oak- relationships between Pokémon and humans
    Professor Elm -Pokémon breeding patterns
    Professor Birch -Pokémon habitats
    Professor Rowan -Pokémon evolution
Professor Juniper -the origins of Pokémon
    Professor Sycamore -Mega Evolution
    Professor Kukui -Pokémon attacks

So do you think we are going to get some new move-based features?

    Reply
    • Kukui stole my professorship proficiency
If I ever decided be a Professor under the name Prof. Ironwood
And my goal would to crack the universal genome of Pokemon attack biology; laymen’s terms how are Pokemon able to learn attacks via TM or by Breeding
      Also Attacks in general

      • I’ve always wondered this myself, especially the bred moves part. It would seem that bred moves are genetically expressed in neurons/neuralgia and influences the “memory bank” of the brain.

    • I’m curious to know what Hala’s role is, he is the one who gives us our starter after all, so he’s not an irrelevant NPC obviously.

      Reply
    • I hope they make more moves with duel types. I really like Flying Press and the idea makes sense. There are tons of moves that could double up even just thematically. solar beam is one particular move that comes to mind. lol

  8. all right everyone let’s load up the hype train for our big Trip E3 and more information on Pokemon Sun and Moon!

    • The “Tiki Hut/Camp/Outpost” is the lab, I think. The entire town is the starting town.
The “Snowy Town” is the hotel that we saw in the very first trailer.
The “Semi-Hidden Island” doesn’t appear in the in-game map.
The “Single Large Building” is an observatory of kinds. There’s two circular objects on it — one’s a satellite dish, the other a telescope.

      Reply
    • I think the artificial island in the center is either the location of the Pokémon League (with the giant building in front of it some kind of Victory Road or a new mechanic serving as a final test for trainers) or the Battle Frontier (which I really hope will return)

      Reply
    • that Giant Beanstalk! will this mean that we will able to travel to some hidden sky realm? There is a lot of clouds anyway.. looks suspicious.

  9. Looking over the map there seem to be a lot of potentially awesome and unique places! I just really hope they don’t pull a kalos and have all of these neat locations that are facades and serve no purpose. Also, think how gorgeous Soaring would be in this region. It has to return!!

  10. I think the evil team’s plan is to have eternal days/nights depending on the version. What if an eclipse happens at some point in the game? That would be cool to see. And from what we’ve seen it’s kind of hard to locate the gyms so what if some of even all of the gym battles happen on those platforms we saw? We’d be more connected to nature which is a strong theme in this gen… So many questions

    Reply
    • I’m wondering if there’s not a hidden town inside a mountain or volcano somewhere. That would be neat to see anyway.

      Reply
      • Yes! Hopefully we’ll have an underground city somewhere. Or maybe a huge cave with a village in it in the middle of nowhere?

        Reply
    • My theory is religious kooks trying to worship the Sun and Moon legends and convert others
Or Evil scientists trying to absorb Pokemon powers and transfer them into themselves or their Pokemon

      Reply
      • I think the religious point may be too risky. Not only will many children not understand it, but if there any similarities at all to any real-life religion, it would be greatly criticized.

      • Took me roughly an hour, but yeah, it was one of those I looked back at and said “Why can’t I do work that nice more often?”
I think it has to do with the fact that I studied the shading more than usual, so it turned out a lot better than i originally intended.

    • My only quarrel with the Rodex is going to be those big ol’ eyes staring at you 24/7 but I’m still worried we won’t get PSS WTing and SuperTraining

      Reply
      • Asa rule of thumb, they can’t get rid of all the bottom screen features, pokemon amie is still required for sylveon. So i’m sure that’s around to stay. And if they don’t incorperate the old features as repeats, they’ll try to one up like they did in black and white compared to diamond and pearl. This is a pattern, the second gen on handheld always finds ways to optimize the process they started in the first.

        • I know but I seriously cannot live without Wonder Trading and Super Training
I will not go back to counting EVs and just guessing
That gauge makes everything so freaking easy to keep track

          And also Wondertrading leftovers

          Reply
          • What if there were facilities designed for Amie, ST, WT, etc. It wouldn’t be as convenient as having them on you all the time, but at least they would be available and not clogging up the bottom screen.

          • I mean it be just better to have everything in the PSS so we could have more buildings

  11. Something I just thought about, so is ash gonna get a rotomdex too? I feel like that’ll be really cool if he can interact with it and befriend it like his other Pokemon. Wouldn’t it technically be his first electric type since pikachu? I don’t think he’s ever had another one, no?

  12. So with E3 right around the corner I only have a few games im looking forward to
    Sun and Moon
    Zelda Wii U
    Yooka-Laylee
    Skylanders: Imaginators
and begrudgingly Paper Mario Color Splash just to see how awful it will be

  13. I have a theory and it is related to the island with the giant tree and geysers, that may have a relation with each XY legendary:

Xerneas: Giant Tree / Tree of Life
    Yveltal: Pilar
Zygarde: Desertic / Arid lands (it has a entry like a cave)
    Volcanion: Geysers

Will we have a Kalos storyline sequel, maybe post-game? The island looks definitely interesting…

    Reply
    • Well with all the Volcanos in the region, there better be some quest when Volcanion is traded over.
I do like the theory however I don’t know whether they’ll have an XY link where you get the S&M legendaries, but anything’s possible I guess
Maybe it’ll have a link with the island in the top right where that weird looking palm tree thingy is?
