New Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Trailer Released

In addition to showing off the newly revealed Mega Evolutions of Altaria, Salamence and Lopunny, we also get our first look at Horde Battles against Team Magma! The official site has also been updated with screenshots and more information.

The Pikachu which can wear outfits is called ‘Cosplay Pikachu’ and has a distinctive tail different than normal Pikachus. It has a dark heart-shaped mark and is the only Pikachu able to use costumes.

Contests will have an Introduction Round which judges your Pokémon’s conditions, which can be improved through the use of Pokéblocks, and then a Talent Round in which you have 5 turns to use moves. There are also combos which can give your score a boost, such as Focus Energy followed by Stone Edge. Through your performances you can also amass a fan following which you’ll see at the Hall entrances.

In a new feature, you can also take pictures with your Pokémon during the contest, as seen above.

  2. Too bad we can’t give out TMs or badges when someone defeats us in our Secret Base Gyms. I’d give out Roost and the… Cloud Badge

  3. WOW! This is awesome!
A little bit disappointed that Trainer Customization wasn’t revealed, and that we currently can only dress up Pikachu in those awesome costumes.
I’m also disappointed in the fact that Mega Salamance remains in that shitty position in battle. Definitely at the bottom of my list for Mega Evolutions.
Now, Horde Trainer Battles are awesome, and that brings me to a theory. Horde Battles, like Trainer Customization, were revealed in XY. Since Horde Battles are confirmed for ORAS, why not Trainer Customization too?
Really excited for ORAS, but I’m not too big of a contest person, as I never really understood the point of them when I played Sapphire years back. Still, I’m sure ORAS will make me love them <3
Also, that Contest lady that was revealed in CoroCoro has a REALLY shitty name in English, which is Lisia. I can't remember what her Japanese name is, but I think that's better.
Just my two cents on this CoroCoro. Not overly excited but ORAS is still #1 on my To-Get list. 🙂
Now to decide if I should get Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire… 🙂

  4. The energy from Salamence’s Mega Evolution is focused on its wings. Its two wings fuse together, becoming a single huge wing in a crescent shape. When flying at high speeds, this wing becomes a great blade, slicing through anything loitering in Mega Salamence’s way.

Mega Lopunny’s wild fighting instincts, long dormant, have been awakened! A full-power strike from its ears could crumple solid steel plates. Its personality transforms and becomes extremely aggressive, which often leaves its Trainer feeling bewildered by the change. (Extremely Aggressive you say, that’s all i needed to hear)

Lopunny’s Attack gets a huge boost from Mega Evolution, and its already-high Speed also increases. With the Scrappy Ability, its Normal- and Fighting-type moves will even hit Ghost-type Pokémon.

  5. To those wanting contests to be like in the anime… I do to but, I hope you know it’s pretty much impossible to do in a game.

      • Yea sure. But that’d take so much time we wouldn’t have a game to play at all. Gameplay + features > one amazing feature

          • I know how game development works. But how many hundreds of moves are there? And to combine each move into thousands of possible combinations? Not possible.

          • Technology is so advance u can make many things possibly. Tech is growing the first system u didnt need glasses were 10 years after handheld was still using sprites for most there game it can happen

          • TBH Skiddo, it’s just a matter of time. Trying to make contests close to the anime would eat up a ton of development time! It’s the same reason why Pokemon will no longer be walking on the overworld (except a few). Also, it would get annoying just programming all of those movesets and combining them! It’s not impossible yet the development time would greatly increase. Technology sometimes doesn’t fix the annoying things!

          • I really don’t think you understand. The engine has nothing to do with it. It involves the tedious coding and animating of probably hundreds of thousands of combinations. It’s not a matter of the technology, it’s a matter of time.

          • Again, you really don’t understand. PEOPLE MAKE THE ANIMATIONS, not the game, the engine, the technology. Those are all tools, but at the end of the day, it’s human power that gets this done.

          • I agree with Chico. Your not really getting this. GameFreak had to start from scratch with X/Y! It lead the developement time to 3.5 and made them to have a larger budget! The engine just makes the game run. In the end it’s all of the people creating everything implementing it and putting in the work. Also, you have to remember the 3DS file size and power!

          • It’s not just that it’s still in development. Editing and other animations of the video itself can mess stuff up.

          • I’m a person that loves 3D as you know! It’s annoying playing X/Y with some of the lag during battles! I’m just impressed by how much they packed into a small cartage!

          • Yes! The low framerate is annoying, but I don’t mind it in the end! It’s impressive how much they can pack in the cartridge, and they still have about 6 more gigabites(?) to use!

          • The actual memory that the game takes up, doesn’t utilize the full cartridge. I read somewhere that it takes up only 1.7 gigs.

          • The reason they don’t have Pokemon walking with us is because the 3DS is a newer engine for them. Yes they have overworld models, however, it would have taken a lot more time for X and Y to have 3D models and animations for 721 Pokemon including megas and overworlds AND adding the scripts/animations to make them follow us. I’m sure they could be working on it currently. Walking with Pokemon was in the coding of Gen V.

          • I would disagree. I think they didn’t implement it because of the sheer amount of Pokemon! GameFreak worked on the game for 3.5 years getting the 3D models and stuff right! As I said before. The problem is time and coding. It would quickly get annoying. Also, I think they wanted to add the during development but removed it because of time constraints!

          • They managed to make Overworld sprites and walking with Pokemon and on top of that, they managed to make 3D models for each Pokemon. So, it’s not too many Pokemon to do so. Walking with Pokemon is totally possible on the 3DS. It just takes time and I’m sure they’re making these animated overworlds bit by bit, not just rushing into it for Gen 7.

          • The 3DS is capable of many things. Pretty sure you don’t know how development works unless you’ve actually gone through YEARS of courses, being 17-18. I highly doubt you know how game dev works. JS.

      • if they use those battle combinations for contests, they might as well use them for battle. so a pokemon battle would basically be something like ff dissidia (think)

  6. So the pokemon that they showed the megas battling against were all pokemon that are thought to have or confirmed to have megas (Shiftry, Torkoal, and Sableye). So far, when they showed mega pokemon battling, they have only showed megas battling other pokemon that can mega-evolve. I think this basically confirms that Shiftry and Torkoal will get megas 😀

      • Yeah, but the ones that they’ve shown battle against mega pokemon in the past are ones that can mega evolve, so I think they are just hinting at the future announcements.

        Reply
        • You could honestly make a case for any final stage Pokemon to mega evolve. That’s the problem. And that really won’t happen. I doubt GF wastes their time reading speculation for ideas on what should mega evolve. Not to sound pessimistic or anything, just realistic. 😛
