Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Announced

Pokémon has just announced that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be released in November 2014 for the Nintendo 3DS. Not much more is known. Below is what the official site posted in their announcement:

Announcing Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems! Prepare for an epic adventure exploring a world filled with Pokémon!

Pokémon fans first enjoyed Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version when it launched in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance. Now, a whole new generation of Pokémon fans will experience the dramatic storyline that unfolds in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

Look forward to Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire when the games launch worldwide in November 2014!

These games will be released in November world wide as confirmed by the Japanese announcement. The Japanese mini-site is kind of cool, by the way.

ps- Personally I cannot be more excited about these games. I don’t know what a heart attack feels like, but I think I had one when I saw these announced.

  1. I honestly disappointed that these games are full-on remakes, but I’m happy and excited nonetheless for these games to come in November! 😀
Although, since it is a remake, I have a few questions.
    1) How are they going incorporate information from the latest games? RSE timeline is during RBY.
    2) So how is trading going to work with X&Y since they are some years after Gen 5? Unless X&Y are actually in the same timeline as RSE/RBY?
    3) Megas? I really don’t see how they’re going to incorporate that in the games because timeline issues but Origins kinda pushed that out
    4) Mega Mascots? The cover art imo is just showing them being possessed by their orbs and not a “mega” or “primal” form
    5) Will they incorporate Emerald data? I’m believing they will since they did that with HGSS and C. So will it be Steven or Wallace? My bets on Wallace as Champ and Steven is the Red. Maybe through Steven you learn Mega Evolutions?

I’ll just throw this opinion out there. I honestly hope this is the last remake. GF is pretty much in this void where people want remakes and are also getting sick of remakes. I want GF to move forward and build new regions and I believe ORAS will bring closure to remakes.

  2. Isn’t Hoenn the region where your dad is a gym leader? I wonder if what they’re going to do with that this time around? Maybe this time he’s your grandpa 🙂

  3. Well since they are full-on remakes, that means contests are definitely coming back! I never really cared for them in the original Hoenn but lets hope they add new features to it!

      • Hg/Ss included parts of Emerald so R/S could very well include parts of Emerald such as the battle frontier! Plus it’s been 3 main games since they’ve done a battle frontier so I think it’s time for another one. And Hoenns was so different from the others that I think it will make a return.

  4. I hope they update poke’bank/transporter to transfer items between games. Easier to move all those mega stones & battle items

    • Steven talks about stones with strange powers from another region spotted in Hoenn. Hands you one so you can check it out.

  5. I just remembered something! Hopefully there will be another Shaymin event because there’s that white stone near the Space Center! I’ve always wanted a shaymin.

  6. Guys, just because it’s a remake doesn’t mean that everything will be exactly the same. Megas will be included (just look at the box art). And don’t think logically as strange as it sounds. New features WILL be included, there really isn’t an established timeline anyways.

    • Yeah, timeline wise. Nothing really makes sense. The games say something (RBY=RSE time) & the manga says other things (RSE after HGC). So just don’t over think it

  7. The only thing I’m a little scared about for these games is the fact that while many of the Gen 3 Pokemon have reasonable movesets, there are a lot of of them that have kind of pathetic ones, even now in Gen 6. I hope they keep the current movesets at least. I think the lack of moves for a lot of them was something that escaped my mind of the past 10 years.

  8. If it’s just a simple, pure remake, set in the style of XY, I’ll get bored with it really quick to be honest, and will probably find myself playing XY again shortly after.

I can never even finish playing a rom of Emerald because hoenn bores me so much. I wanted something much MORE than a remake… the whole “epic new world, dramatic adventure” thing really led me on. I’ll just stay kaput until they release something for concrete. I’m not gonna of that piece of interview that was posted in a thread.

    • I don’t think it’s a pure remake because they will have to add somehow megas and the features from emerald ( I hope)

      • That’s what baffles me. How is it a pure remake and the titles imply (atleast to me) that AZ might have some sort of involvement. I was expecting them to be prequels. Or maybe be about the beginning of groudon/kyogre war, and the end of the war. Because the leviathan/behemoth did battle at the beginning and the end.

  9. If contests reallt do come back, then I really hope they bring back Ball Capsules. That was my favorite minor feature in Gen IV! And HG/SS had them!

I just hope that moving party members in ball capsules will be less annoying now. I didn’t like removing them to move them.

    • That’s why I hated ball capsules. They were annoying AF when you went to place a pokemon in storage and was reminded that they have seals on them etc.

And contests will return. This was confirmed when Bank was released and people migrated their Ribbon pokemon to XY and saw that your ribbons get replaced with Commemorative Ribbons (meaning they’re designing new contest ribbons).

  10. I’m definitely getting Alpha sapphire! Does anyone think mega Groudon and fat whale will get additional types? I think Groudon with be fire/ground and Kyogre will be Water/steel. They can’t take away drought and drizzle from them though XD

  11. Guys, there’s something I just thought. First, look at this image that has already been posted: http://imgur.com/r/pokemon/MhXH5ea

Now, look at Groudon and Kyogre (the original designs, not the new forms), the black markings on Groudon’s arms and legs resemble an Omega, while the red markings on Kyogre’s fins resemble an Alpha.

Aaaannnnnd, the titles Pocket Monsters Omega and Pocket Monsters Alpha are trademarked. So… Maybe RS were at some point intended to be Omega and Alpha? Then, what about Rayquaza? The only letters I can think of are Sigma and Omicron, but neither is similar enough to Rayquaza’s markings.

    • I personally feel like Rayquaza doesn’t have to be based off a greek letter. Alpha & Omega have extreme significance, extreme occult meaning, all these “Sigma Espilon” different titles for rayquaza dont make sense.

      Alpha for beginning of war
      Omega for end of war

how does a middle random greek letter for rayquaza tie into that?

      Reply
      • Dunno. Maybe that’s why they changed it, assuming my theory is correct.

However, looking again, the yellow marking in Rayquaza’s head resembles an Omicron. Does the Omicron, or any similar letter in any other alphabet, have some special meaning?

        Reply
    • It’s an M that resembles a Volcano and an A that resembles bones/whatever. Calling it an alpha and omega is way too farfetched.

  12. I wonder what the summary of a Pokemon would say if you transfer it from RSE > DPP > B&W > X&Y > back to Hoenn LOL.

It’ll be cool if it said something like “This pokemon traveled long through time & space and found its way back home”.

  13. So what does everyone think ?

Do yous think its a standard remake ? Or a sequel prequel ???

    I can’t decide which I’d prefer :O

          • Really ? OMG its amazing, one of the beat challenges in pokemon no doubt. They will have it tho mark my words haha. You will love it 🙂

  14. “Groundon and Kyroge are heavily based on the leviathan and behemoth who in biblical lore fought at the beginning of time. Further in the lore states that they will renew their fight at the end of time.” A (alpha) = beginning, Z (omega) = end. This is what made me think that it wouldn’t be full on remakes.

It made me feel like one game would be a prequel, one would be a sequel (focusing on war). Then there’s the increased PEGI rating 6 that a Pokemon game has never had. Yeah, miss me with that full on remake stuff.

  15. The only reason the teaser stated a dramatic new world is because its launching in an era of new pokemon trainers that never played ruby sapphire emerald. So its a new region to them not veterans. 🙂

    Reply
      • The storyline is fairly dramatic taking over the land and seas to extinguish life ??? That’s pretty dramatic. And as I said the new region was said as its to establish the new fan base taken in by x and y. So to them its new but veteran’s its not. No false advertising here 🙂

But I’m calling a smaller region similar to the sevi isles after the main storylinw. That’s sort of a new region 😉
