Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Announced

Pokémon has just announced that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be released in November 2014 for the Nintendo 3DS. Not much more is known. Below is what the official site posted in their announcement:

Announcing Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems! Prepare for an epic adventure exploring a world filled with Pokémon!

Pokémon fans first enjoyed Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version when it launched in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance. Now, a whole new generation of Pokémon fans will experience the dramatic storyline that unfolds in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

Look forward to Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire when the games launch worldwide in November 2014!

These games will be released in November world wide as confirmed by the Japanese announcement. The Japanese mini-site is kind of cool, by the way.

ps- Personally I cannot be more excited about these games. I don’t know what a heart attack feels like, but I think I had one when I saw these announced.

  1. Will Mawile, Sableye, Zangoose, and Seviper become version exclusive pokémon again? If so, then chose wisely what version to pick my friends.

  2. Are people really saying GameFreak is running out of names? “Hmm… Pokemon Omega Ruby. Well, is Nintendo running out of name ideas, because there was a pokemon hack called Pokemon Omega… and it was a hack of Pokemon Ruby. Hmm…” – some dum dum on youtube

    • Well tbh nintendo already made a game called ruby sooooo they’re definitely running out of names, I mean seriously they just released it like 10 years ago! XD

  3. Guys try this: Say out loud “Hoenn is confirmed”. Then, comment if you can believe it or not. xD I can’t, lol.

  4. Alpha and Omega both mean “the beginning” and “the end” respectively. Maybe this “explore a whole new world” thing alludes to one game being a prequel, one game being in the future?

  5. So assuming Mega Latios/Latias were meant for Omega Ruby and Alpha Saphire, why aren’t the other megas meant for the remakes in X and Y’s data?

    • lots of reasons. time constraint? rushing? knew hackers would spoil? could be anything.

I’ve always wondered why kalos introduced fairy type but didn’t release fairy gem. so odd.

      • Yeah they’re going to have to release a huge update for X and Y when the remakes come out
If they were worried about hackers you would’ve thought they would leave out all event pokemon/event mega evolutions

        • I was just thinking about that. The patch update would have to be huge. They probably won’t do it and will have us use Bank to transfer poke’s.

EDIT: nevermind, i’m expecting a patch because I know XY players will be disappointed if they can’t battle Oras players

          • Yeah cause then it would just be like generation 7 instead of a continuation of generation 6
cuz all generations have been compatible with other games from the same generation

        • most likely they didn’t expect hackers for the 3ds, the 3ds isn’t exactly easy to hack and and when it has been hack not much has been done with it, so they probably felt a little confident but they underestimated pokemon fansi guess lol

          • I more meant either they would have put all the megas planned for ruby and saphirre in x and y or none of them, not just two

  6. What if ORAS will be Vrtual Exclusive (no more Physical Copies)? That means there will be no more hacking. :'(

  7. This is totally seems like a remake and not a sequel based on the wording from the press release on Pokemon.com. I was so nervous because I thought it was a sequel. If it was, it would still be good but I think RS will benefit more from a remake.

What do you guys think? Remake? Sequel? Or a little bit of both?

    • I’m expecting one of the games to be prehistoric tbh. XY allows you trade illegal mons to other players online like “Moon ball noibat”, “fast ball torchic”, this means apricorn’s will be making a return so we can catch HA pokes in them. Lady in Azalea pokecenter says “before pokeballs were invented, trainers would use apricorns to catch their Pokemon”. I definitely feel a prequel. “A whole new world” implies this.

  8. I just read a Djja comment. Once you visit this site, you can never leave. It’s a curse, I tell you! A prophecy from the great Jungle Book.

  9. So, I have a theory.
If you look closely at Kyogre and Groudon, you can see an alpha and omega-like symbol on each one of them.

I believe that Pokemon Omega Ruby will be introducing Omega Formes of Pokemon, whereas Alpha Sapphire will be introducing Alpha Formes of Pokemon.

Either that or they are just megas, XD.

  12. I think that the Red and Blue orbs will act as megastones in the games.Mega Groudon and Kyogre mega evolve into their Ancient forms (what they looked like in the ancient times, not new forms), hence the new symbols on their bodies.
