PJT ‘14 — Sign-ups Opened for Stand-ins, Rules & More!

We opened sign-ups for our PokéJungle Tournament 2014 (or PJT ‘14, as we’re going to call it!) two days ago and within 24 hours all initial competitor slots were filled! We’re incredibly excited to see so many of you want to take part in our tournament and we can’t wait until we kick start off the first round.

Stand-in Sign-ups

It’s expected that a few of our competitors will have to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances, because of that we’re offering 10 more of our readers a chance to get in. The sign-ups below are for stand-in competitors, while it’s not guaranteed anyone who signs up for a stand-in position we’ll get to participate in the tournament, you’ll be our first port of call should we need more players. There will be 10 slots available for stand-in players, and should we require one of you to take part in the tournament we will randomly select names from the list to fill tournament slots.

Stand-in sign-ups should be completed using the form below, but please remember spaces are limited! Since closing sign-ups we’ve had two spots freed up, which means we’re actually offering the first two stand-on sign-ups the final two places in our tournament, so act fast!

Confirmed Competitors

Though everyone who signed-up to the tournament has been given a place, we thought it best to display a list of competitors who have successfully gained, that can be found below! If any of you wish to withdraw from the tournament we will be providing a withdrawal form nearer the start of the tournament. Of course, you can also contact us in any other way beforehand.

Tournament Rules

Perhaps most importantly for this post, we’ve decided to share the first revision of our Official Tournament Rules. For the most part these will be the final rules we use in the tournament, though we’re still making adjustments here and there to perfectly tailor them. If after reading them you no longer wish to partake, that’s absolutely fine and as we said above: let us know and we will withdraw you from the tournament.

The PokéJungle Summer 2014 Tournament will use a rule set that has been modified from the VGC ‘14 Season Official rules. All players taking part in the tournament are required to abide by all rules set out below. Anyone found breaking them will be disqualified immediately. As well as following these rules players are expected to conduct themselves with common courtesy before, during and after the battle period.

Players will be responsible for arranging when a battle will take place, although we will provide platforms for you to do so. After the battle both players must report the results of the battle. We ask that all players save their battles in their Vs. Recorder so that it can be used for confirmation of battle results if a dispute occurs.

Pokémon

When choosing Pokémon to take part in the PokéJungle Tournament, it’s important they all conform to our rules for entry, as seen below.

  • All Pokémon must be legitimately obtainable in Pokémon X & Y. We are allowing transferring of Pokémon from older games through Poké Transporter
  • The following Pokémon are banned: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde.
  • Species Clause: No two Pokémon can share the same Pokédex number
  • Two or more Pokémon cannot have the same nickname in a team
  • Pokémon cannot be nicknamed using the name of another Pokémon. (For example naming a Sewaddle “Snover”)
  • Pokémon able to Mega Evolve are allowed to do so
  • Any Pokémon used by players that are above Level 50 will be lowered to Level 50. Pokémon below Level 50 will remain as they are
  • Players will be required to use 6 Pokémon throughout the tournament. These Pokémon will remain the same through the entire tournament and cannot be changed.

General

  • All matches will be played in the Singles, 6 VS. 6 format
  • Item Clause: No two Pokémon can hold the same held item
  • Your Pokémon team must remain the same through the entirety of the tournament. No changes are allowed unless we state otherwise
  • A disconnection from the battle will result in an automatic forfeit

Again, please remember that these rules for the most part are final, though we are still making adjustments. If you have any questions regarding the rules, or think we’ve got something wrong, please let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to see to it.

  1. @TheNintendoChip:disqus, for the second city in between the boat ride and Route 2, how about Pelabuhan Town, or something along those lines? Pelabuhan is the Malay word for port. Unless of course, we have a theme going for the names, like Kanto (colors) and Johto (plants) and Kalos (perfume ingredients)

  2. If anyone who’s working on Jade Jungle is here…
I have some ideas for towns:
Lilac City, the new version of Lavender Town. Going to this town triggers an event with a shadow. This person looks like a shadow, and asks you to surrender your Pokemon. You refuse, and he goes over to Team Flora’s hideout. Considering the fact that you are working with Team Flora against Team Eda, the Shadow knows who you are and who you are allies with.

The Shadow can do one of two things in the game:
    1) Hold Team Flora’s leader hostage, and become the new leader of Team Flora. He uses his Mega Hypno in order to make the remaining scientists of Team Flora become his allies. He then plans to overrule the Zahhre region by defeating everyone.

    2) He, alone, attempts to acquire every single Pokemon in order to create what he codenames “The Ultimate.” With this power, he is able to make everyone and everything under his command, and overrule not only Zahhre, but the entire Pokemon World.

Sounds a bit dark, but it’s what I have in mind now. Be thankful that I’m still, despite my busy schedule, devoting time to give some ideas for the game, and I’m not just letting you all take the work.

      • Team Flora leads with the Purification Legendary though. I don’t think that’s something to defend. I feel like they should be your allies. What makes Team Flora so bad that you need to stop them?
I haven’t been working on JJ as much as you guys have, so please enlighten me. 🙂

          • xD It’s okay. But one wants to completely dominate the earth with money and factories, while the other wants to make it original.

          • Yeah, and I thought a cool idea would be to have one of your friends go to each side, while you stay neutral.

          • o_0 i thought team eda wanted to rule the world with an iron fist (LITERALLY) by using technology into their own greed and they dont care of their side effects (pollution)

and both legendaries are a huge consicquence of their goals what they didnt expect

          • yeah i meant by factories and harnessing un-natural energy

digital is my thing as scientist 😉

          • :O I was thinking, post-game, we could have one guys who plans to take control of the technology legend (if we have one) and create a digital world, so that no one can do anything wrong.

          • 0____0 I LOVE THAT ROLE

id glad give dicie back his sicentiast tole and take thar

a technological legend sounds amazing like 0____0

          • 😀 Wouldn’t that be sweet!? He saw the errors of Flora and Eda and wanted to make a world where no one could do anything bad; all futuristic; with the power of the Cyber Dragon Pokémon.

          • hmm now hear me out on this : I thought that this man saw the flaws that team eda and team flora didnt see and now beleives the world should be ruled in an iron fist with digital technology raining through the Zherre Region in order for life to be perfect with no flaws . The only way to succeed in his plan is to awaken the Cyber Dragon legendary and use its power to fuse our world with the digitla world

          • Basically, I was just thinking not fusing but creating, kinda like Team Galactic but not with a different galaxy.

          • hmm cause i was thinking that the cyber dragon was like a link from our world to a digital world and with it, we can make Earth combine or as you say create into a digital world

          • :O if this was a seperate game, he could have made pokemon in cyber pokemon with armor ( like mew twos armor) to inhance their power aka making them 6iv fully ev’d power strong

          • if i may jump in. I think when the team brings the cyber legend to our world the cyber legend sees our world as “unprefect” and trys to control or destroy the world while not on anyones side.

          • i like it! Or it gets a “virus” making (place name) lose control of the pokemon and you have to save the world ONCE AGAIN XD

          • Well, I was thinking a man similar to Colress would summon it and it would either work with him or it would rage out of control and combine worlds, while you would have to hunt it down from wherever it was summoned to a mechanicalized mountain or clocktower and capture/defeat it.

          • His name could be Luke and he became a scientist aft5er seeing the ways of Colress. He wanted to perfect our world, and his calculations said he could control the dragon, but he miscalculated and it became enraged and broke from his grasp, and now he and you calm it. Anyways, I gtg, cya later.

          • Make this a post-game mission. Like the 3rd legendary of the trio. Did someone even make the first 2? Oh the confirmed Pokémon spreadsheet, that is.

          • Hmm i like it

but maybe to fill in the dont under stand the consequences it gains a virus enraging it and “filler name” loses control of it

          • Luke perhaps? And you would have to track it to Clockwork Tower say and battle it at the top?

          • i say luke is his real name but like he also has another techno name or something :/ I’l definately work on this!

ALso i love the clockwork tower idea though the name should sound even more cool!

        • Team Flora is trying to destory all manmade creations to bring life to the orignal slate aka mass genocide in a different angle

          Reply
    • hmmmm adding a huge role for such a character seems kinda farfetch’d

i say that in the beginning he doenst understand the true meaning of what a pokemon is and thinks all they are are slaves or a “shadow” to the trainers however after a couple encounter with you the protagonist and seeing you trying to stop team eda and team flora, he changes himself and could
A.) sacrifice himself (kinda dark i know) to save you from pollution/ flora legendary

B.)becomes an aid into help you reach the pollution/flora legend to save the region from destruction

  5. Are we in need of a redesigned Pokemon Center for Jade Jungle? Let me know now since I’m working on one.

    Reply
  6. So, I’ll be making my Pokemon Center using Minecraft.
Basically, I’ve finished the exterior and here’s a bird’s-eye view of what it’ll look like. Of course, I need to add in new floors and the interior.
There’s a little sheep chilling in the corner too <3

  7. Some new moves I was thinking of for jade jungle while I was in church o3o ( I get bored easily in church despite it being a black church XD)
    Heartbeam
    Power:80
    Type:Fairy
    Category: Special
Description: The User Hit’s the enemy with a beam formed from the users inner Love and affection. 30 % chance to infatuate foe.

    Piercing Bolt
    Power:70
    Type: Electric
    Category: Special
Description: The user shot’s a Powerful concentrated blast of electricity from their mouth that can destroy barriers and magical walls ( light screen/Reflect/ Safeguard) also has a 20% chance to paralyze targets.

    Reply
    • For the first one, do you mean “Heartbeam” since it can cause infatuation? I like how it sounds. Piercing Bolt does sound OP, but with 70 Base Power, it’ll do just fine.

  8. Why hasn’t there been a Grass or Poison type move that can cause burning, like how Poison Ivy can cause itching?

  9. I have an idea for some kind of Druidic Pokemon
Basically its a hybrid of Spirit Animals
a Bear with hawk or eagle feathers and either a tiger or wolf tail

But i don’t know what type it should be I think either Grass/Psychic

    Reply
  10. Since Thousand Arrows breaks the laws of Type Effectiveness, I’ve come up with my own Game Changing Move:

    Name: Manipulation
    Type: Psychic
    Category: Status
Description: The user badly poisons its target with its mind. Can affect any type.

  11. O.K how about some kind of Hybrid Druid Pokemon that can shift between three forms
One based on Physical Attack (Wolf)
One based on Special Attack (…a Hawk?)
And one based on Defense (Bear)

    Reply
        • Wolf could be special as they use mind games to hunt prey, I imagine it creating mirages of itself multiple times to hunt using mind games of the illusions

          Reply
          • Wolves, though hunt in packs wouldn’t be a special attacker
Everyone knows that Wolves represent Fear and feral Strength so special attacks just wouldn’t be right

          • Well my thoughts is that it creates illusions to create fear while it pretty much attacks from a distance, it uses fear to control it’s opposition into a area where it will attack and kill it’s prey

          • Hmmm twould be appropriate but I don’t want to steal signature moves

I’m looking at you Dwebble and Crustle!

  12. Assualt vest Landrous T is so good @_@ in fact. ANYTHING with assault vest is really good 😛 I think it’s one of the best items in the game
