PJT ‘14 — Sign-ups Opened for Stand-ins, Rules & More!

We opened sign-ups for our PokéJungle Tournament 2014 (or PJT ‘14, as we’re going to call it!) two days ago and within 24 hours all initial competitor slots were filled! We’re incredibly excited to see so many of you want to take part in our tournament and we can’t wait until we kick start off the first round.

Stand-in Sign-ups

It’s expected that a few of our competitors will have to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances, because of that we’re offering 10 more of our readers a chance to get in. The sign-ups below are for stand-in competitors, while it’s not guaranteed anyone who signs up for a stand-in position we’ll get to participate in the tournament, you’ll be our first port of call should we need more players. There will be 10 slots available for stand-in players, and should we require one of you to take part in the tournament we will randomly select names from the list to fill tournament slots.

Stand-in sign-ups should be completed using the form below, but please remember spaces are limited! Since closing sign-ups we’ve had two spots freed up, which means we’re actually offering the first two stand-on sign-ups the final two places in our tournament, so act fast!

Confirmed Competitors

Though everyone who signed-up to the tournament has been given a place, we thought it best to display a list of competitors who have successfully gained, that can be found below! If any of you wish to withdraw from the tournament we will be providing a withdrawal form nearer the start of the tournament. Of course, you can also contact us in any other way beforehand.

Tournament Rules

Perhaps most importantly for this post, we’ve decided to share the first revision of our Official Tournament Rules. For the most part these will be the final rules we use in the tournament, though we’re still making adjustments here and there to perfectly tailor them. If after reading them you no longer wish to partake, that’s absolutely fine and as we said above: let us know and we will withdraw you from the tournament.

The PokéJungle Summer 2014 Tournament will use a rule set that has been modified from the VGC ‘14 Season Official rules. All players taking part in the tournament are required to abide by all rules set out below. Anyone found breaking them will be disqualified immediately. As well as following these rules players are expected to conduct themselves with common courtesy before, during and after the battle period.

Players will be responsible for arranging when a battle will take place, although we will provide platforms for you to do so. After the battle both players must report the results of the battle. We ask that all players save their battles in their Vs. Recorder so that it can be used for confirmation of battle results if a dispute occurs.

Pokémon

When choosing Pokémon to take part in the PokéJungle Tournament, it’s important they all conform to our rules for entry, as seen below.

  • All Pokémon must be legitimately obtainable in Pokémon X & Y. We are allowing transferring of Pokémon from older games through Poké Transporter
  • The following Pokémon are banned: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde.
  • Species Clause: No two Pokémon can share the same Pokédex number
  • Two or more Pokémon cannot have the same nickname in a team
  • Pokémon cannot be nicknamed using the name of another Pokémon. (For example naming a Sewaddle “Snover”)
  • Pokémon able to Mega Evolve are allowed to do so
  • Any Pokémon used by players that are above Level 50 will be lowered to Level 50. Pokémon below Level 50 will remain as they are
  • Players will be required to use 6 Pokémon throughout the tournament. These Pokémon will remain the same through the entire tournament and cannot be changed.

General

  • All matches will be played in the Singles, 6 VS. 6 format
  • Item Clause: No two Pokémon can hold the same held item
  • Your Pokémon team must remain the same through the entirety of the tournament. No changes are allowed unless we state otherwise
  • A disconnection from the battle will result in an automatic forfeit

Again, please remember that these rules for the most part are final, though we are still making adjustments. If you have any questions regarding the rules, or think we’ve got something wrong, please let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to see to it.

  1. There should be alternate prizes in the tourney based on team creativity or something D:

And is there any way we can vote on the rules? XP

  2. Here’s an alternative route the game can follow (refresh)

The gyms are Dragon, Fairy, Poison, Water, Dark, Ghost, Fire, Steel., though I suggest they be reordered as Dragon, Ghost, Poison, Steel, Fire, Fairy, Dark and Water.

This is my idea for the names for the cities and towns in the main part of the game. I listed all of the places which are on the main path, and not the places which you access from a route or a city. I also thought of names for each island and peninsula of Zahrre, and for the volcano.

These are the area names (and what’s in it):

    METAMORPHIC
PENINSULA- Contempo Town, Meteoris City, Route 1, Route 8, Setback Town,

    IGNEOUS
ISLAND- Interlu Town, Graystone Town, Andante Town, Chalcan City, Pendulous
    Town, Pokémon League, Routes 2-6,

    SEDIMENTARY
ISLAND- Magnetitis City, Zirhine City, Chronose Town, Obsidia City, Shalerode
City, Everflow Town, Routes 10-15, Sediment Peak, Flowback Falls,

    EROSION
    ISLAND- Erosion Island

    HOUR ISLAND-
Volcore City, Route 9, Temporal Volcano

    SECONDS
ISLANDS- Triassic Island, Jurassic Island and Cretaceous Island

MINUTE ARCHIPELAGO- Holocene Island, Pleistocene Island, Pliocene Island, Miocene Island, Oligocene Island, Palaeocene Island, Eocene Island, and Cenozoic Island
(contains Eternal Town and Infinity City)
If there’s a comma after it, it means there needs to be more.

So what do you guys think? I need feedback. Also, the Zahrre region needs more diversity, so we need more areas!

    • Those are just my proto-names. I used a theme of time related words for towns and post game areas, and rocks for major cities and large islands, because we already had Contempo Town and Meteoris Town

  9. @TheNintendoChip, can you alter the map to incorporate a desert? Maybe in the rain shadow of the mountains. After the Fairy gym, maybe

  10. Plot idea:

A rich family who owns half of the region own a daughter who wants to become a trainer and runs away from home, the father decides to go after her using his forces to take her pokemon away from her. You confront him and try to stop him. Eventually he takes her pokemon away and you have to go retrieve them. Turns out he was trying to stop his daughter from going to far because she is the only one who can awaken the legendary pokemons power(that’s the reason why he didn’t want her to be travelling around) she is kidnapped legendary awakes you have to capture it to calm it and you fight him.

    • It’s unique to the original formula since your rival is part of the main plot not to mention its not the generic teams but a families hired forces

      • Did Bianca had agents after her xD? But when you think about it Bianca never really ran away from home :/ also time period wise this was after the black and white time line

    • Sounds like a great plot for a Pokémon Movie! As for a game though, it is unfortunately too complicated to be in the story. Game Freak likes to keep these nice and simple. I like your idea though.

  11. So I heard that Gale of Darkness’ Original Plotline was going to be that Wes was the antagonist the whole time and did everything he could to battle Evas, and become Cipher’s New Boss. WHY THE F*** DIDN’T THEY STICK TO THAT?!?! CAN’T WE HAVE AN ANTAGONIST-PROTAGONIST FOR ONCE?!?!
