PJT ‘14 — Sign-ups Opened for Stand-ins, Rules & More!

We opened sign-ups for our PokéJungle Tournament 2014 (or PJT ‘14, as we’re going to call it!) two days ago and within 24 hours all initial competitor slots were filled! We’re incredibly excited to see so many of you want to take part in our tournament and we can’t wait until we kick start off the first round.

Stand-in Sign-ups

It’s expected that a few of our competitors will have to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances, because of that we’re offering 10 more of our readers a chance to get in. The sign-ups below are for stand-in competitors, while it’s not guaranteed anyone who signs up for a stand-in position we’ll get to participate in the tournament, you’ll be our first port of call should we need more players. There will be 10 slots available for stand-in players, and should we require one of you to take part in the tournament we will randomly select names from the list to fill tournament slots.

Stand-in sign-ups should be completed using the form below, but please remember spaces are limited! Since closing sign-ups we’ve had two spots freed up, which means we’re actually offering the first two stand-on sign-ups the final two places in our tournament, so act fast!

Confirmed Competitors

Though everyone who signed-up to the tournament has been given a place, we thought it best to display a list of competitors who have successfully gained, that can be found below! If any of you wish to withdraw from the tournament we will be providing a withdrawal form nearer the start of the tournament. Of course, you can also contact us in any other way beforehand.

Tournament Rules

Perhaps most importantly for this post, we’ve decided to share the first revision of our Official Tournament Rules. For the most part these will be the final rules we use in the tournament, though we’re still making adjustments here and there to perfectly tailor them. If after reading them you no longer wish to partake, that’s absolutely fine and as we said above: let us know and we will withdraw you from the tournament.

The PokéJungle Summer 2014 Tournament will use a rule set that has been modified from the VGC ‘14 Season Official rules. All players taking part in the tournament are required to abide by all rules set out below. Anyone found breaking them will be disqualified immediately. As well as following these rules players are expected to conduct themselves with common courtesy before, during and after the battle period.

Players will be responsible for arranging when a battle will take place, although we will provide platforms for you to do so. After the battle both players must report the results of the battle. We ask that all players save their battles in their Vs. Recorder so that it can be used for confirmation of battle results if a dispute occurs.

Pokémon

When choosing Pokémon to take part in the PokéJungle Tournament, it’s important they all conform to our rules for entry, as seen below.

  • All Pokémon must be legitimately obtainable in Pokémon X & Y. We are allowing transferring of Pokémon from older games through Poké Transporter
  • The following Pokémon are banned: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde.
  • Species Clause: No two Pokémon can share the same Pokédex number
  • Two or more Pokémon cannot have the same nickname in a team
  • Pokémon cannot be nicknamed using the name of another Pokémon. (For example naming a Sewaddle “Snover”)
  • Pokémon able to Mega Evolve are allowed to do so
  • Any Pokémon used by players that are above Level 50 will be lowered to Level 50. Pokémon below Level 50 will remain as they are
  • Players will be required to use 6 Pokémon throughout the tournament. These Pokémon will remain the same through the entire tournament and cannot be changed.

General

  • All matches will be played in the Singles, 6 VS. 6 format
  • Item Clause: No two Pokémon can hold the same held item
  • Your Pokémon team must remain the same through the entirety of the tournament. No changes are allowed unless we state otherwise
  • A disconnection from the battle will result in an automatic forfeit

Again, please remember that these rules for the most part are final, though we are still making adjustments. If you have any questions regarding the rules, or think we’ve got something wrong, please let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to see to it.

  1. I feel like i haven’t done an Earthen Answers in a while
But I need to think of a good question pertaining to how you would emotionally and physically treat you Pokemon beyond a competitive scale….

  3. Well.
I’d like to set some deadlines for Jade Jungle.
    June 1st- Finishing Touches
July 1st- First Alpha + Website Creation + Download Link (2 gyms)
August 1st- Second Alpha + Download Link (4 gyms)
September 1st- First Beta + Download Link (6 gyms)
October 1st- Second Beta + Download Link (8 gyms)
November 1st- First Release + Download Link (Completed Game, bugs to be addressed)
December 1st- Release Date + Download Link (Final, Complete, Near Perfect Game)

This is a rough schedule. My plan is to have a first release by July. I also plan to release it around December, but any time before then is fine.
I also plan to create and submit an article to PJ about Jade Jungle around June or so.

I also plan to be involved in the creation of a website or blog, which will focus on giving updates about the game on a weekly basis.

For the fanmade boxart, I plan to have it be Green and Purple. Half of it will have the Purification Legendary, and half will have the Polluition Legendary.

If we come late with a release date, that’s fine. I just think it’d be nice to release it by the end of 2014. If that can’t happen, then we’ll shoot for a mid-2015 release date.

Also, we need to determine our Pokedex size, any new moves, new types, new Pokemon, new mechanics, etc.

      • And the Pokémon details it uploaded aren’t exactly correct either. My Doublade probably defeated 20 Mewtwo, and yet when I search for Doublade, it doesn’t list 3 of the moves I gave it and says it never defeated a Pokémon.

  5. I am so psyched to compete! Even if I go down in flames (or rather, crits), I will still be smiling because I had a chance to make my bred team shine!

  6. Does anyone think they’ll ever give all of the starters an equal chance to be a boy or girl? Like give all of them 50/50 gender probability in future games? I don’t get why it’s like 12.5% to get a girl starter…I have such bad luck with that. I’ve hatched over 30 fennekins and still have not gotten a girl. It’s always like this for me… -_-

  7. I don’t see what the big deal of using the none uber legends. I thought pokejungle was about “using what you want and your favorites.” Does that not apply to legendries as well?

    • Good Afternoon Jenn. It has been a while.

Anyyway, the uber legendaries are uber for a reason. They could easily destroy non legendaries if the proper strategy is used.

        • It’s fine. Reality takes a toll on our Internet lives. So long as you’re enjoying your activities is what really matters.

          • I’m peachy. Finally finished a massive Group Project. All that’s left is assignments now and another Group Project (which isn’t so bad).

          • i’m not really fan of group projects. Most of the time somebody doesn’t do their fair of work and the other people (usually me) have to putt their weight

          • In group projects I would rather do all the work myself, than let someone else do it wrong….I don’t even mind sharing the credit…as long as its up to my standards…that’s all that matters.

    • Well using legends is sorta cheap cause legends have a really high normal bst, making them strong off the bat but with some moveset they are OP ( even stronger than uberim IMO)

HEATRAN for example can wreck if the right moveset

  8. I wonder if there will ever be an option to have Inverse Battles in Wifi Battles. Of course, this would be optional.

    • Pretty nice SpAtk, solid bulk all-around, diverse movepool (including Dragon Pulse and Stealth Rock via Transfer). With Air Balloon, pretty much can’t be OHKO’d by much. As of this Gen, destroyer of Fairies and it can be used in a variety of roles depending on what your team. It’s not OP, but just very versatile.

      • dont forget his typing, immunity to two status, so he cant be stalled to death(unless leech seed but who going to put a grass type against heatran)

        Reply
      • Heatran’s biggest problem is lack of recovery outside of leftovers, which you won’t be using if you have an Air Balloon, and Knock Off is a thing anyway.
Also that weakness to Ground, once Air Balloon is gone, and weakness to Priority Mach Punch and Aqua Jet, although those Pokemon using those will not appreciate a burn (Unless Conkeldur)

        Reply
        • yeah many people uses leftovers and with the likes of garchomp been the most used ground type right now heatran isnt safe anymore
