PokéJungle Tournament 2014 Sign-Ups CLOSED

UPDATE: Sign-ups are now CLOSED, though it’s possible we’ll open them for a short amount of time in the coming days. Thank you to everyone who has signed-up so far. We’ll be announcing the Official Rules soon. Confirmed competitors will also be announced shortly, as well as those on the waiting list.

***

As you hopefully all remember we announced last year that we would be holding a network-wide PokéJungle tournament. We opened sign-ups and had an amazing response. However, we didn’t quite feel we were ready to begin the tournament, there were things we hadn’t planned for and dozens of loopholes. Now, we’re ready to announce our tournament again, and open sign-ups right off the bat.

pjt1The PokéJungle Tournament 2014 will take place during a few weeks over summer this year, after which our first Champion will be announced. Due to the tournament running over several weeks we ask that you only sign up if you know for certain you’ll be available to take part in each round. At the time of writing we haven’t fully decided how many rounds there will be, but each round will run for a total of one week.

Using the Swiss format for battling trainers will gain points across each round, until all rounds are complete and the Champion decided. The Swiss format for battling allows us to match players of similar skills level in battles. Of course we’re open to suggestions if you don’t feel this format works best.

It is important that if you wish to take part, you fill the form below with correct information. If we believe the information you have provided is incorrect we will sadly have to disqualify you from the tournament. If you wish to back out of the tournament after signing up we will provide a form later for you to fill out, it’s likely back outs will have to count as a forfeit. Sign-ups spots are limited. Once filled we will allow a further 10 people to sign-up and act as back-up competitors should another back out before the first round is completed Official tournament rules, requirements and information will be published soon. Rules can be expected to be a slight alteration of the Official VGC rules. Prizes and awards are yet to be decided.

As always if you have and questions of queries please feel free to contact us or chat with us in the comments or site chat!

  2. I recently learned about the Chrysopelea, AKA the “Flying Snake”. We should have one. Yes, I know we have a few snake pokémon already, but one more won’t hurt right? It can either be Poison/Flying, or Poison with Levitate as its ability.

  3. There are very few times when I regret not getting into competitive battling. This…is one of those times. However, I shall enjoy hearing the results in the summertime!

  5. I would love to join! But I’m not sure if I’m good enough…

And on a side note my college classes are over, so I’m free!

    • Don’t worry. I stink at battling, because I haven’t even completed the game yet, and I joined. My total at the April Friendly was 29-49

  6. I’d also love to join, although my battling skills are… below average.
Probably gonna be the first one out.
I hope that the tournament is in June, as my July and August will be spend in Florida and at reunion parties. 🙂

  7. Also ShinyNoivern I told you yesterday that Skiddo the Survivor Fan won a contest and got chosen as Dragon-type Gym Leader, whereas ProsecutorZero got a spot as Gym Trainer.

Here’s what I told you yesterday:

I’ve given up my position in Team Eda as Lead Scientist to SlipperySceptile, and will instead be taking the Team Flora Lead Scientist position, if all right with you.

Skiddo the Survivor Fan was chosen through a contest to be the gym leader of a Dragon-type gym. His three Pokemon, levels, and genders are below, and it is your task to give him a fake, but likable name:
    Dratini Female Lv. 17
    Bagon Male Lv. 15
    Deino Male Lv. 15

ProsecutorZero won an additional contest and would like to be featured in one of the gyms as a trainer.

Also, if the spot for Head of Team Flora is currently vacant, then I can occupy it, if that’s fine with you. Of course, I’ll be moving up from the Lead Scientist position, leaving that open for someone else.

  8. Can’t wait! But is there any way to stop people from secretly exchanging Pokemon?

Like Gardevoir for a different Gardevoir to pass off as their original one. Or can you switch Pokemon on your teams between battles?

    • In VGC and online tournaments they usually lock the battle box.

      1. One way for a grassroots tournament to achieve this, is to have participants fill up a Pokemon details form for the tournament organizer (assuming T.O. doesn’t partificpate). It should be down to the EV’s and moves. Any change disqualifies.

      2. Another possibility is to allow changing teams between battles outright.

  9. Are we going to have to lock our Battle Box? Like, give you mods all the details? Or will we be allowed to switch Pokémon, like rotate our teams? And if it’s being locked, when will that be?

  10. This site works excellent on my new Kindle Fire. I signed up. Doesn’t mean I will last long or rank highly though.

  11. Okay, whose idea was it to give Groudon rest because it makes it almost impossible to catch. Ps: I gave up on soft reseting mewtwo. I fail. And I officially hate Groudon.
