PJM Writing Contest Winners & Art Contest Clear Up

Sorry for the slight delay, as I got struck with a severe headache and a bad temper. But I persevered to bring you the ultimate winners of the PJM 2014 Writing Contest!

I received 10 round two submissions, all of them which were excellent! You all did a great job guys. Choosing two winners proved to be a daunting task. But the big winner was a clear-cut case for me, as I absolutely loved his history of Pokémon before Pokémon even existed. So I hereby declare the following Pokéjungler as the absolute first winner of the PJM Writing Contest:

James Hurst with Capsule Monsters: The Pre-evolution to Pokémon

The second winner was a though choice between four favorites, but I ultimately went with:

ShinyXatu with MissingNo.: The Acceptable Glitch

Both will get contacted for further details regarding fine tuning their articles within the course of next week. And of course, we can’t forget to mention their prize. Each will get a free printed copy of the magazine, including free shipping :). The others will get the chance of seeing their articles up on the site, starting as early as next week. I’ll contact them if that’ll be the case.

While I get back to work off-screen, I would like to address the confusion that arose around the Art Contest. This is most likely my own fault as I was extremely exhausted writing the introduction article and seemingly forgot to write a general description.

The purpose of the Art Contest is to receive high quality (in technical terms) digital art commonly found on sites such as Deviantart. The winner will see his article taking up one whole page, so it has to be something suitable to be blown up so much. It will be very much like a big ad in a magazine, but without the advertising. For technical details, click here. If you still have some questions about the contest, be sure to hit me up with an email (found in the article) or just shoot it at me in the comments.

I’m off for now, my head still pounds with the force of one million suns. Happy commenting, and don’t be afraid of being banned quickly, the Headmaster wasn’t trying to intimidate anyone :).

  1. Hold on my brain is working for once!
What if all the pollution trouble Eda is causing is benefiting the Poison Legendary
Like they’re creating pollution in hopes that they’ll resurrect the Poison legendary
Trying different areas and seeing if polluting will result in the Poison Legend

  3. Just thought id let you all know that not every design is in the game, so custom tiles (i.e. ones i would have to make) are out of the picture…
Just keep that in mind when designing stuff for gyms/cities…

You can kind of piece it together, since it’s strict about taking pictures on mobile.

    • Even though I only got 1 badge and just caught snorlax, I’m planning on restarting my Y lol. I wanna do a playthrough with a team of shinies I’ve cloned. So why don’t you start up your Y journey since you still haven’t touched it yet?

        • I can clone with he-who-must-not-be-named. And I don’t clone for people to have my shinies, especially ones that I hatched personally. I cloned them to have on my Y journey playthrough. And I cloned Sandshrew to give to earthen cause I know he likes ground Pokes.

          • But but.. but…
Well, as long as you love your hard earned shinies…
(Let’s petition for our cameo appearance in Jungle Jade as Ace Shiny Trainers!) *cough*

          • haha.. I peep your shade there bud.. you can disagree with what I clone for, and disregard me as an ace shiny trainer – but i’m more of an ace shiny trainer than you’ll ever be. 180 Pentagon Shinies, when will you?

          • Hey, you started before I did. Sure it took longer for me than it has for you, but my point was not meant to sound competitive. I just dislike cloning shinies, that’s all. I never once said you can’t do it, it’s just that you shouldn’t because that defeats the purpose of shiny.

          • I started it??? LOL are you serious dude? You blatantly tried to be McShady by “coughing” after Ace Shiny Trainer just cause I can now clone them. Did i ever once say I clone them to trade to ppl to earn better trades? Did I say I cloned them for this, that? No – I said I clone them for personal use, to play with on in-game for Y. And you have a problem with that. It doesn’t defeat the purpose of shiny, if anything – it makes my hard work pay off that much better because I spent all that time working on a palette swap when I now have 2 of them for personal use. Bye igneous – stay pressed.

          • ???
I said you started breeding for shiny BEFORE I did. I was still training up Pokemon. That coughing was suppose to be sarcastic because you WERE the one who suggested the Ace Shiny Trainer thing in the FAN GAME as cameo appearance. I think you seriously misunderstood what I was trying to say.

  9. Unrelated Topic:
Today at school I practically was the teacher. Taught the class about simple machine physics. Bet half of them didn’t understand a word I said XD

  10. Evil team idea: Team Cobalt
(Note: I haven’t really read up on the fan game towns/places/available pokemon, feel free to revise)

Team Cobalt is a group of businessmen and women who are interested in making money and monopolizing Pokeball manufacture. Their favorite Pokemon are steel types particularly Klinklang line, electric types particularly the Eelektross line, dark types particularly the Weavile evos, Aerodactyl, Whimsur evos, Magmortar line, and Rhydon line. They have a unique Pokeball called Cobalt Ball, which the player can unlock (well actually, unlock a more reasonable price) and purchase by the end of the game.

You first meet them selling Cobalt balls at a new shop in your third town, for a ridiculous price. Of course, their leader comes by and tells you how good they are. It’s still too expensive of course.

Over the course of the journey, their business practices become more and more ruthless. Plots can include:
    1. Sabotaging a rival Pokeball factory (just like Laverre Town in X&Y)
    2. Threatening marts and Pokemon centers (you fend them off with a Pokemon battle)
    3. Harassing random Pokemon trainers to buy their Cobalt Balls. (“It’s overpriced!”)
    4. Taking a mayor hostage and forcing him to approve a new factory (“I can’t bulldoze the Pokemon center!”)
    5. Re-routing power to a factory of theirs (causing a blackout)

In the final town, the leader has had it and actually succeeds in destroying a couple of buildings including a Pokemon center with either his signature pokemon (maybe Mega Aggron?) or a legendary pokemon, just as the construction crew comes in. The final town’s Pokemon center will be in a run-down building in the corner. The plan is also visible in other towns in the following ways (the prof. tells you to stop them before they get far of course):
    1. A skate park is bulldozed by Team Cobalt members
    2. A fountain is being targeted for demolition as well
    3. Some historical buildings
    4. One of the gyms

Once you do this, Team Cobalt’s fortress becomes open and you storm it and defeat the leader, and then the regional professor gives him a verbal beatdown. He changes for the better, and agrees to help rebuild. Everything back to normal, and Cobalt Balls are now available in the Pokemon Centers and marts for a more reasonable price. Then you go ahead to the Elite 4/Champion.
