A few weeks back we revealed our plans to launch a network wide tournament, mainly taking place on PokéJungle.net. We asked our readers to complete a quick survey regarding competitive battling and their skills and opinions on how we should hold our tournament.
Today we are pleased to announce that the tournament will begin in the coming weeks once all preparations are complete. However, we can’t start a tournament without competitors! As such we’re proud to open sign-ups for our tournament. The sign-up period will last for approximately 72 hours, after which we will close the submission platform, sort entrees and contact any unsuccessful sign-ups. Official tournament rules will be released in the coming days alongside finalised battle formats and more, so please stay tuned!
It is important that if you wish to take part, you fill the form below with correct information. If we believe the information you have provided is incorrect we will sadly have to disqualify you from the tournament. If you wish to back out of the tournament after signing up we will provide a form later for you to fill out, it’s likely back outs will have to count as a forfeit. As always if you have and questions of queries please feel free to contact us or chat with us in the comments or site chat!

Do you have a female with 3/4 IVs? And what’s the Gender/Ability percent modifiers?
The ability one, don’t trust that too much because we still don’t know the % chance of ability passing. But gender you would set to 12.5% if you are trying to find a female Bulbasaur for example. Set it to ignore if you don’t care about what gender you want.

I had no idea that 2 different 5 IV and 5 IV parents give a 1/92 chance of all flawless. That’s why I never found a flawless froakie cuz I was using parents with 5 IV that are the same, which give a 1/192 chance :O

Actually when I fist played competitive back in DPPt, I use to be all about speed and atk. Then one day I decided to use HIppowdon, after being so impressed by it’s defenses and made a gravity team. It was so fun and the play style was so different that I fell in love with stall 🙂 and never looked back. At some point, I will make my old gravity team from back in DPPt xD
Ohhh, I can’t imagine you ever having used a non-defensive team xD It’s funny though cause I’m a Steelers fan, and what I’m most familiar with are sayings like “Defense wins Championships” or “The best offense is a good defense.” Yet I don’t apply that to Pokemon, when I see now how true those statements can be xD

Now not secretive! The key is to use spike + gravity + roar/whirlwind to hit all of those levitators. But gravity has other beneficial uses such as increasing the accuracy of all moves by 60%. So I used Starmie with gravity thunder, hydro pump and Blizzard. Forretress with gravity. And also Blissey with gravity as well. But I don’t thing some of those can learn gravity anymore :/

That is such an interesting Starmie set, and I had no idea Gravity had that added effect. It’s a shame Gravity is a Move Tutor move for Starmie, so you’d have to wait for Tutors to re-create that =/
Yeah. But sadly gravity is still kind of gimicky, but I really liked it though. The team wasn’t amazing, but it was definitely a good team, but when I replaced gravity with other moves, and changed the theme to just pure stall, I found myself winning tons of matches! I even got to the top 10 on Shoddy Battle (What it was called before Showdown). So Hippowdon is very special to me xD
That’s amazing! Have you ever competed in official Pokemon tournaments? And if you were to re-create it again…would you go Eviolite Chansey instead of Blissey?
Nope never xD. ACtually PJ’s will be my first one xD. Hmm, I might now that sand last for 5 turns. Back then since there was no eviolite, I used to use Blissey with Fire Blast and Ice Beam, to OHKO Scizors and Dragons that like to switch-in xD.
My team was: Hippo, Blissey, Vaporeon, Gengar, Forretress, and Scizor

Vaporeon! What did you teach that? I’ve considered raising one eventually, wanna get Wish for it. And 2 Bug/Steel types, completely opposite each other in what they’re meant to do, but presents a big weakness to Fire. Was that a problem?
Vappy had roar surf (no scald back then) wish protect. I kept Scizor for late game to clean up all of the pokemon weakened by hazards with Bullet Punch. I need a good priority pokemon. Back then there were only 2 good fire types that people used: Infernape and heatran. Infernape was problematic but it’s frail so it’s easy to KO.
Sorta like how Mega Luke should be kept for late game (which helped in my battle against Jiro yesterday btw. Cleaned up everything in the end, it’s too OP).
Yup xD. That’s why a team shouldn’t have to many sweepers, because they aren’t very good in the beginning.

ooh okay haha how do i know which gligar has it when i encounter 5 at a time or will i encounter only 1 and 4 other pokemon?
From what I’ve read and heard, if one is looking a different direction than the other 4, there is a high chance that one has the hidden ability. I’ve never tested this theory myself though, just read up on it

It may be true. I do happen to notice that it doesn’t happen every time while I EV horde train and such. I just never bothered to catch one
i did some research and i’ve found something. Gligar’s hidden ability is immunity so try to poison every gligar and the one who don’t get poisoned will have het hidden ability 😛
That’s one way to do it too!

Well, to really test it, you can always poison the one looking the other way in a couple of hordes you find to see if it really is that way or not

So far this theory doesn’t hold much ground for me. I have somewhat tried it, albeit not for too long, maybe about 4-5 hordes, and the ones pointing in a different direction did not have their hidden ability.
Maybe a bigger sample size is needed, but it doesn’t look promising.
Ah, okay. All Serebii’s site says is that there is a “slight” chance that one or more can have the Hidden. If the different looking way is connected, who knows. I take “slight” as 5-10%
