News is crawling by slower than a three-toed sloth. I guess you can’t really promote new games when you still want to sell the old ones :). Bring on the spin-offs in January, please.

Anyway, today’s about a major feature of Pokémon: connectivity. Even more than 15 years ago, Pokémon was designed to bring people together to let them trade and battle. Nowadays, with the internet having gained solid ground, staying connected is easier than ever. With the PSS in Pokémon XY, battling is as simple as pushing one button. This leads me to my question: how connected are you? How many friends have you got in your friends list. How many times do you battle and trade everyday? Do you talk a lot about your battles with your friends in online chat, or even at the playground? And who’s considered the best local battler of his friend group/family?

It’s hard to make up news, and we don’t have coverage that is coming to a close that actually gets delayed and trickled to pretend there’s still news, so if you have any ideas, hit us up in the comments. Maybe I should try to write my own Pokéology, seeing as we have no clue what Mechanos is up to.   2. Can I ask what the big deal about Protean is? I really don’t like it, but I was wondering of I should try it out and then judge. Because, other than the rare Toxic Spikes or Shadow Sneak Greninja, fighting seems to hit almost every set i’ve seen. How have Protean Greninja worked for you guys?

      • I see. I have a few Protean Froakie, including the Toxic Spikes one i got in a trade today, and I was wondering if it was even worth working on, as I have my Toxic Spiker for now, until Ithsme gets his wifi back.

    • It means every move you use has stab, it’s good on pokemon who have a wide move pool since it gives them many types to counter

      • Yeah, but the only moves i see on Greninja are Grass Knot, Spikes, Dark Pulse, Hydro Pump and Ice Beam, non of which resis or are immune to fighting, so i never really saw the gimmick of it. Yes everything has stab, but you become monotyped, which really is a downside to me.

    • Protean makes you get stab from every move you use because you turn into that before you use it. Nature:Timid item:Life orb
      252 speed and s.attack
      U turn
      Hydro pump
      Ice beam
      Dark pulse

      • see, That’s not very good to me. Because it’s easily countered by fighting and Pursuit users. Pursuit damages U-turning Greninja, and fighting moves tear it apart otherwise.

        • But you see you only turn into a singular type so as long as you didn’t use dark pulse on a pokemon with a fighting type move you’ll be fine and if still haven’t convinced you how good it is then I’ll battle you tomorrow.

          • Yeah, but Ice beam makes you weak to fighting, and Hydro Pump makes fighting neutral on you, and with Greninja’s terrible defense, Most fighters would tear him apart. Lucario for one, Conkeldurr for another, and his special bulk iisn’t the best, so Aura Sphere Mienshao might also be an issue.

          • Yeah, but extrasensory isn’t very common, and then that makes him weak to ghost, which puts him at risk of being beaten by the ridiculously common Aegislash. Or the way too common Sucker Punch M. Kanga

          • Are you forgetting that he is very fast or he has the ability to switch out? He doesn’t have to fight all of those pokemon -_-

          • True, but priority is priority. Yeah he can switch out, but who says he won’t be your last poke, or you have nothing else that can really handle those two, you know? I try to look at each pokemon as an individual, because if i rely on support too much, and synergy of a team, then my teams go awry, and i do even worse.

          • At the end of the day greninja aint no super man and obviously can’t take out EVERYTHING that’s why you have other pokemon to cover what it can’t

  5. I’m still struggling to find a move for my Talonflame in it’s last slot. It has Flare Blitz, Brave Bird and Steel Wing, I’m just wondering what other move it should have. I was considering my patron Sub, but Talonflame with two recoil moves and substitute would be terrible.

  14. and as for the topic, I’ve only played with a classic original D.S (Not a lite) and I had limited online capabilities, but ever since I upgraded to a 3DS and upgraded to and XL (Totally Worth it) I’ve been connected 24/7
    My only negative comment is that i’m tired of versing elitist Japanese Players

  16. I’m in a little bit of a dilemma. I have to go to the orthodontist at 11:30. I’m not gonna be able to start Shiny Saturday at 12. And Xatu isn’t here, I need someone trustworthy to open shiny Saturday today.
