Week 6. Still no shiny. Contemplating whether or not I should continue my Pokemon career.
Chain Fishing. I got 4 in two days from that.

And also almost everyone finds shinies on Shiny Saturday and you missed out.
How does one perform such an act successfully?
Try to get a chain until you find a shiny, then continue the chain because it increases every time.
Like what are the mechanics of it? The do’s and don’ts
Don’t move from the spot you’re fishing in (breaks chain), find a pokemon every time you fish(I recommend suction cups, and if you don’t find a pokemon every time breaks chain), and you can run from pokemon just STAY IN THE SAME SPOT AND FIND A POKEMON EVERYTIME.
Does it matter what rod I use?
Nope.
Can you switch between rods mid chain or does it have to be the same rod all the time?
Pretty sure same rod.
If I close my ds and come back, will that affect it?
Nope and also if you find a different pokemon every time that’s fine.
What if my suction cup pokemon dies?
You shouldn’t battle just run

Basically, you can’t get a “You reeled it in too fast (or slow)!” You can’t move from that spot, just don’t touch the Circle Pad/D-Pad. Run away from the battles, and don’t save/switch rods.
Even if the Suction Cups Pokemon fainted, it’s still in effect. (Have it in the front of your party). Also try to fish near rocks.

It works. Trust me. Even the guy who tells you about Consecutive Fishing says it.
