PJM February Contest – Round One

Want to have your own article featured in Pokéjungle Magazine and win a printed copy? Now’s your chance! We’re doing a contest a few months in advance so everyone has the time to write their articles and we have time to rate them all. How does this work? Well…

General Info

The contest consists of two rounds. Everyone can enter in the first round. We’ll then evaluate everyone and will send back mails to those who passed into the second round. After the second round one winner will be chosen and announced in advance of the magazine’s publication. His/her article will remain a ‘secret’ to the rest however. He’ll then have to manually mail (the paper kind) a letter we’ll send him/her granting us permission to publish the article. Stamps will be reimbursed from the ‘PJM Fund’. The winner will receive a printed copy of the magazine mailed to him by normal postage as a compensation!

Requirements

There are no hard requirements except for having a knack at good and creative writing. Your English doesn’t need to be perfect, as we’ll edit out the kinks together if you happen to win. A sense for punctuation and logically sounding sentences are a plus though. There are no age requirements, you can live anywhere you want and you don’t even need to own XY!

Round One

In round one you will have to write a short bio introducing yourself and a not-too-long article (more than five sentences but less than a full page) about anything you want as long as it is Pokémon related. Be sure to provide us with your Disqus name and an email which we can use to get back to you. Your real name and other personal details are not necessary (although keep in mind that when you win we need your home address to send the magazine to).

Round Two

Round Two details will be sent to you once you pass round one, but it’ll mainly consist of writing a two-page article you want to see featured in the magazine. I’ll have more to share once we near December.

I’m in! What do I have to do?

Just email your bio and article to [email protected] with the subject “PJM February 2014 Submission #Nickname”. You have until November 24th to submit articles, which is quite enough time so take your time in writing! Expect a post on the contest the 25th and I’ll regularly remind everyone of the contest in my new posts.

As a bonus, check out the new logo!We also decided to just stick with PJM instead of PJNM, dropping the ‘Network’ from both logo and name. If you’ve got any questions you can always shoot them in the comments or use my new fancy email I put up above! See you 🙂

  3. Dang it… I want to enter but I have no idea what to write about… Dae, what kind of article are we talking about here? Scientific, fun, a short story?I know it has to be pokemon related, but in what context?

    • I could write about joining the Pokejungle community, I would LOVE to write about that. Even though I’ve only been here for only six days, I feel that it would be good for me to write about my experiences. It might get more people to join the site too!

    • You could create a short story then release it out in parts in each issue. If you do that, then you’ll have to leave the story on a cliff hanger

      • O_O I can’t do fiction… My fiction sucks. I would prefer to do an opinion piece or something like that. Not so much fun, but actually to be read.

        • OK, here’s the base then. You live in Lumiose City and you’ve just turned 10 and you’re about to go to Professor Sycamore”s.(Let’s just base this in the Kalos region) Before you go catch up with your friends (just pick 2 names) who have already turned 10 but have waited for you so you can all pick your Pokemon at the same time. You and your friends walk up to Professor Sycamore’s Laboratory’s door. You and your friends gather up all their courage. They then ring the doorbell…

          • I still suck with fiction… Thanks for the start though, someone else can use it if they want. THEY NEED TO HAVE TIERNO BE RELATED TO MIRROR B.

  4. I’m Belmad.
I’m a skin that cyber world has put me on perforce. I’m flesh and bones of a
clockworking machine. I’m the slave of enigma thoughts. I’m a person who is
destined to hide under a cover. I can tell that I’m not what I’m supposed to
be. I’m exactly who I am though, when it comes to restraining. I’m hard as steel
when it comes to crying, I’m broken as strain, when it comes to fighting. I’m
shallow as marsh when it comes to crossing, but deepness buries me when I stop.
Above all, life is easier when I put on my skin. Would it be easier if I can crush
my bones and eat my flesh? The answer remains hidden itself. When it is easy
not to try, you never know what the reality is. What is sad is Belmad has never
learnt to live. It never loved, it didn’t even feel anything. Excitement is
just a state for it, sadness is just a malfunction. Words are combinations and
punctuation is an operator. What am I asking for though? Living this lie is the
best thing that would happen to me. However, when you wait too long under the
rain, you forget that you are getting wet. I’m Belmad and I’ve just convinced
myself again that I’m Belmad. Namaste.
