Dae asks: Did you buy a 3DS for Pokémon?

I still remember the first year the 3DS launched. It was one rough year, with barely any worthwhile games released for the system. After half a year a massive price cut was issued and people thought Nintendo were doomed forever. Nintendo put all their effort in making the 3DS the success it should have been. After a lukewarm 2012 Nintendo tried to hit back with big hits in 2013, one of those being Pokémon X & Y.

People were saying for over two years that they would never the failure that is 3DS, but the tides seem to have turned looking back at the recent hardware sales. Now I ask you: did Pokémon pull you over? Or did you already have a 3DS well before Pokémon was even announced? Or were it multiple games that made you buy it but Pokémon was the decisive factor? Tell me all about it in the comments!

I’m currently busy with PJNM, so my review got put on hold but I’ll try to make sure it hits the coming week! Until then!

  1. I’ve been hunting for a shiny mareep in hordes for about 6 hours in all, and have been hunting in a friend safari for about 3 hours. And I have been tipping like crazy. Please help!

  2. My Ds “died” so I decided to buy a 3DS instead of another DS, in Christmas 2011. I got Super Mario 3DS land 2 days later, Mario kart 7 in march 2012, White 2 on release day (DS game but never played it in a DS) and…Pokemon X since november 1, 2013!!!!!!

I’ll probably get Mario & Luigi Dream Team on christmas, and I’m still unsure of buying Luigi’s mansion dark moond and Gates to infinity.

  3. I purchased my 3DS in May 2012. I only bought it because my DS Lite had a broken hinge and it was annoying to play. I figured that I might as well upgrade to the 3DS, so I bought it and Zelda. Although at the time I knew the reason I bought it. Because Pokemon was going to come to it eventually. That is why i will always buy a Nintendo Handheld. The piles of other great games are just a bonus.

  4. I bought a 3DS on launch day. I had wanted to upgrade from my DSlite for some time anyways, and it made a ton of sense to just get the 3DS to me, and it’s the first system I bought personally and wasn’t gifted, and on launch at that. Basically saw no reason to either, because it was a pure upgrade, and there wasn’t any downside to me for getting it. The game situation wasn’t really a problem to me, I honestly don’t even have that many 3DS games, only a handful, but that handful more than justifies it.

  6. Does anyone have a Shieldon on X and Y they would be willing to trade? I want to train one correctly EV wise but don’t want to wait until December.

  7. I got my 3DS after nagging my mother that I want one so I could play Y. She said Christmas I would get and I was happy and sad at the same time. As X&Y was getting closer (under the 1 month mark) I nagged her even more. Well after being enrolled in my school’s NHS she said she would get me one due to my hard work and i was thrilled! I got the 3DS two days after on a monday because of shipping >_> (even though i bought the game on launch and I was using a friend’s spare 3DS) but nonetheless my life has been consumed by Pokemon.
