All of the New Pokémon in Pokémon X&Y

New Pokémon

Notes: The image above was not made by me. It came from either 4chan’s /vp/ board or Reddit. Props to the creator, it is very well done.

More new Pokémon…?

Currently there are several Mega Stones that have been found, but the Pokémon has not: Druddigon, Heracross, and Galvantula. Profilic Pokémon Black & White leaker “Hiro” also said that Scizor would be getting one too. A legendary trio could also surface in Kalos as well as unseen downloadable Legendaries.

What do you think? Are you OK with the smaller number of “new” Pokémon? Do you like the concept of Mega Evolutions and their role in battles?

  1. So I saw the first 30 minutes video for X and Y (hooray I spoiled myself kinda lol) and saw the Pokemon Center and I wondered this. Did anyone ever mentioned how you trade in this game or when yet? I kind of want to know since, well I kinda want all 3 starters from my X game lol.

  2. After my first game. I think I will start doing some monotypes.

It will be so fun using all of the pokemon from other generations along with making a custom trainer to fit the typing. I can’t decide which type to try first!

  3. After seeing the prices for cloths, there better be either a VS Seker like device, or re-battleable trainers to earn that type of money Game Freak!

  4. I’ve been avoiding most leaks besides for new pokes but I’m curious. Are the mega stones rare like TMs (around the place and not too hard to find) or like the plates in Gen 4 (literally the most obscure random and hidden places that you can’t even see)

    Reply
    • It seems to vary. Some stones you have to search for and are (according to 4chan leaker Josh) not hard to find – the one for Mega Aerodactyl, for examples, just involves doing Rock Smash around a cave for 10 mins or so!

However others (like for Mega Gengar) you are given by an NPC, so we’re unsure whether there’s only 1 in the game or not.

  5. Vivillon Dex entry says – “Vivillon with many different patterns are found all over the world. These patterns are affected by the climate of their habitat”.

“the pink vivilon is listed as Meadow Pattern, the green as Garden Pattern. So the color of Vivillon depends where the pokemon is evolve in.”

With at least three patterns confirmed, possibly four with the white variation, wouldn’t it be fun to do a Vivillion team? (All different patterns)

  6. So, I feel compelled to give my opinion on the miniscule things about the game.

Mega evolution: I’ve loved it from day one, and now that I see the type of stat increases there are, I’m even more hyped for it. Although, Mega Ampharos is my least favorite, as I don’t think a weave and some added orbs is enough to make it part dragon. And the theory that Mega evolutions symbolized Norse deities? I really like that. Amphy symbolizing Thor? Not a chance. Leave that to a physical Electric Pokemon, like electivire.

69 New Pokemon: I don’t really care. I basically like all Pokemon anyway. And even if I don’t like it in general, I’ll probably use it competitively because Smogon says it’s crap. People on Pokemon Showdown are still slightly puzzled why they get beat by a Physical Alakazam.

The region itself is nicely done, and took some getting used to. Although, I feel that the number of Pokemon accesible before you beat the game is a little high. Honestly, I heard someone say that you had access to 450 Pokemon before you beat the game. That’s cool and all, but the amount of time it would take to collect all of those Pokemon, whether post game or not is quite long. I don’t mind it, but the fact that you will likely run into a different Pokemon EVERY single time you enter grass is a bit odd to me, but I like it. This way I can get old favorites, and new favorites.

AZ is the man. I mean, this huge, dare i say Odin like figure just oozes bawse. And did anybody film the battle wit him? I mean, one of his Pokemon could Mega evolve or something and we’d have missed it. I found the Golurk on his team the most likely candidate for Mega evolution.

Also, not sure if I’m reading into it right, but Josh said that seed bomb was SE on Mega Gyara.

  7. Also, I wanted to say something about Mega Mewtwo Y. As I noticed that people made fun of his.. handle as it was put. Well, if you look at Mewtwo’s design, you’ll notice he has a second brain stem coming from the back of his head. This extra brain stem moved from his back/neck/ head area to his head all together. Because, if you have a brainstem connected to your brain in two places, your mental prowess increases. That was what I believe the aim was with that design. to show that his psychic power increases even more, as the brain stem amplifies the power. That is why Mega Mewtwo Y has a base 194 Special Attack stat. Or, at least that’s what I believe.

      • Yeah, another idea I had is that it might be like FR/LG or D/P where you have to catch/see a certain amount of Pokemon to unlock something…

        • I’m hoping so. Like even in Gen II some Pokemon weren’t available until after you beat the Elite Four. It seems to happen a lot in Even # gens.

          • That’s true actually, Slugma, Hounour and Murkrow were all Kanto Pokemon, despite being introduced in Gold and Silver. So maybe there will be a few more new Pokemon in a postgame location! I shouldn’t think there’d be that many, but a little extra would be nice, especially with types like Poison, Ground and Bug suffering harshly this gen.

    • Am I the only one that didn’t like Hoenn? XD

That game had the most boring storyline and pretty unispired pokemon.
Not going to buy a remake.

        • Hmm to me it was the game that nearly killed my interest in pokemon.
i skipped second generation and third one was just… boring to me.

      • I didn’t dislike it; it was my least favourite generation of the franchise so far, but that was largely due to a) not being able to transfer old pokemon forward b)the graphics c)suddenly not being able to trade with my friends because they’d lost interest in pokemon and wifi hadn’t been invented yet d)the physical/special split being type not moved based. None of those things would be a problem if the games were remade/given sequels, so I look at it as a chance to properly enjoy Hoenn this time around, and give it the apprecation it never fairly got from my newly teenaged, grumpy self 10 years ago 🙂

          • No, it was gen 3. It was type, not move based, which effectively ruined some very good pokemon.

          • No its different. Gen II was the introduction of Phsyical/Special by type. The Original Gen didn’t have that. It wasn’t until Gen IV that was fixed to the move based Physical/Special split.

Normally its the Even Gens that change battle mechanics and introduce new gameplay. The only exception in Hoenn (Gen III) where Double battles, Contest, Better Berries, Natures, and Abilities were added.

          • But the first Gen had a Special value too. It was split in Special Attack and Special Defense in Gen II, but existed before.
Besides, (s?)he just said (s?)he disliked that in Gen III Special/Physical was divided by type, not by moves. Then you said that this was changed in Gen IV, as if you would disagree, but basically you two said the same ^^

          • The first gen did have a special type, but lets not talk about the wonky battle system that is Gen I. Its one of multiple reasons why I can’t bring myself to play Red, Blue, or Yellow

Gen IV rearranged the splits by Moves. In Gen II/III a move like Crunch or Bite was a special move that was because during those Gen, Dark type was strictly special attacks. Even some of the Elemental punching moves or moves like Flame Wheel or Vine Whip were special. In Gen IV they rearranged the splits in order for it to make sense.

          • Yeah, Gen I was a buggy game 🙂
We all know that and agree about it, so what’s the point? ^^ I said the same (just without mentioning Gen II).

      • I liked Gen III. Transferring my Mon didn’t bother me cause I wasn’t a competitive player back then. That was everyone biggest gripe of Gen III since not many Pre-Gen III Pokemon where in it.

The storyline was a bit bland, but Pokemon never really had a good story Pre-Gen IV.

Yet, I will disagree with you on the Pokemon. Gen III cranked out some pretty creative Pokemon compared to its predecessors. The Pokemon actually matched its environment. Hoenn was more of a Temperate/Tropical Region and the Pokemon actually matched it quite well

I think the best thing that I like about Hoenn was the new battle mechanics. Hoenn is where I became more competitive and joined the Metagame. It was Hoenn that introduce Double Battles, the Berry Dex (an extension to berries), Natures, and Abilities. It may the battles more interesting and EV Training less complicated (but still complex)

Probably Another thing I liked about Hoenn was the Pokemon Contest. It gave the world of Pokemon another dimension. Coordinators and Trainers. I loved the contest system a lot. Though I wish it was a bit more like the Anime in regards. I was kinda of a sad when it was only put in one town in Gen IV and then done away with for The Musicals and PokeWood.

      • How on earth (and sea) could you not like Hoenn?
It was hands down the best region without a shadow of a doubt.
It had everything from non-linear structure, beautifully designed routes and settlements like Route 120 IIRC and Cities built on trees or on water. Hoenn introduced Deserts/Sandstorm, Drizzle, Drought, under water sea exploration, Berries and so much more.
Hoenn wasn’t a small tiny region like Kanto nor was it packed into one tiny box like Johto. It was big. Spacious. Beautifully designed.
The Pokemon native to Hoenn were awesome too in design.

If you have something against the generation then okay fine but the Hoenn region? Hello? I don’t see why people dislike it because of too much water. Well DUH that’s the whole point of Hoenn – sea and land. There’s suppose to be water. It all part of the fun. You don’t like running into wild Poke’s then use a repel. You hate exploring water? How can you hate exploring water? It’s fine travelling land and they ask for change but when you get more water you start complaining?
If you hated the removal of day/night. Well so do I but it’s a small thing when looking at the positives.
Lack of access to older mons? Well Emerald and FR/LG somewhat dealt with that. Besides Hoenn is new beginnings. New Pokemon are the way to go.
3rd generation introduced abilities, EV’s, refined the IV system as well as introducing so many new moves..double battles, Pokemon contests, Battle frontier and multiple battling facilities, rematch against gym leaders.
How could you hate the story line? Hello? Having two conflicting teams that are each looking to bring power out of there respective nature be that land or sea and create a new world, destroying the old one in the process. Far better then the generic we’re team rocked and we’re bad MUHAHAHA!. Two teams is better then one especially because they were IMO well plotted for the most part.
It was better storyline then the first two and as good as Sinnoh. Only Gen 5 can have a say as Plasma arc was amazing.

Badly designed Pokemon? I have no evidence to suggest this but I will anyway. In fact my evidence is the community. People want RSE remakes and from my understanding love the Pokemon from Hoenn. The starters have always been well recieved. The legendaries too. Pokes like Metagross, Milotic, Salamence, Manectric,Breloom are also well liked. The designs are different in their theme and they’re awesome whether you like it or not.

People hate on RSE for the most bizzare and stupid reasons but the majority of us want remakes!

          • So like hoenn in your own ok? Nobody must like hoenn or other gen. Hoenn has great idea but weak and short storyline and aftergame. Pokemon games desire more challenge after game because you’re champion and what? Nobody cares about that in world aftergame, all trainers and leaders in region should train in that time when you were on journey and beating storygame and welcome you back with more powerfull teams to test you.

          • No one must like Hoenn but it’s hard not to unless your an outright hater.
Hoenn wasn’t just a great idea. It was a great implementation of everything a region should be.
Short Story? HELLO? IMO it was one of the longest if not longest pre-e4 storyline we’ve had. Certainly longer then what we had in Gen 1/2 and not far off 4/5.
Having two teams and having to deal with not only Groudon/Kyogre but also Rayquaza is not short.

            No more challenge after-game?
            LOLOLOL
            Oh dear..
            Be prepared for this one..
In Emerald you could rebattle Steven Stone for starters who wasn’t easy as his levels were far higher and his team was pretty strong. You could rechallenge gym leaders in double battles which progressively got harder.
Completing your dex was another challenge both Hoenn and National. And thus earning yourself the very hard to obtain Johto starters. Then there’s the Lati’s and the 2 weather trio..
Then there’s the Battle Frontier which was very challenging and fun. Believe me. The frontier in itself would take up almost all your time. What an amazing area!
Then many areas opened up like extended Safari Zone or Desert Underpass, Trainer Tower..
Rebattling Wally at Victory Road, challenging or not it was still there.
And for many who hadn’t finished and obtained all the ribbons from the Pokemon contest had that to do and it takes time.
            And much much more!
And this game was made over 10 years ago. Imagine it in the modern day.

          • I wasn’t being literally by the use of said words.
And for your information a lot of people do.
I had to express my reaction one way or another.

          • Pokemon Emerald is by far the best Pokemon game I have played. It has so far been the only one that i actually continued to play after beating the main elements of the game. And that was due to the Battle Frontier.

I played Diamond, Platinum, SoulSilver, Black and Black 2. I honestly don’t know what to do after I have completed the game….most of them are just sat there with 40-50hrs of gameplay, whereas in Emerald I at one point clocked up to over 300hrs of Gameplay, with a possible 250 of those hrs just on the Battle Frontier. It was by far the best challenge i’ve had in a Pokemon game to date. The Platinum BF just didn’t cut it for me

The BF along with the fact that in my opinion Hoenn was a beautiful region and had some of the best Pokemon designs (and best anime) is why I want a remake. I honestly hope they don’t ‘forget’ to include the Battle Frontier.

          • you have butthurts ;p challenge in pokemon games can be made in this way as I said IT IS CHALLENGE, for me aftergame wasn’t fun in RSE I just leveing up because I hadn’t opponents to fight beside battle tower what was pretty random and for me it wasn’t fun because it was like whole world was crushed by you and never want battle again because never get much power to rebattle. Few random trainers isn’t enough, challenge should ends when everyone will have team of lv 100 pokemons and max AI level to being opponents like living persons

          • You’re right about there being less trainers to battle but you have to remember that the Pokemon games are progressions in their own way. Each generation gets better and better as we go on. And Gen 3 was a long time back where battling numerous strong trainers post-e4 wasn’t the norm. It is now but wasn’t back then. That aside Hoenn had everything and more than you could ask for.

          • When did I ever tell you that you had to like Hoenn? Suit yourself if you don’t like it, but don’t hate on others who do.

        • “How could you hate the story line? Hello? Having two conflicting teams
that are each looking to bring power out of there respective nature be
that land or sea and create a new world, destroying the old one in the
          process.”

          A) I hate that type of Anime villian plot. Team Rocket had a realisitc goal I could relate to. But after 3rd gen the goals of the teams got really silly.

          B) Both teams are so goddamn incompetent!

They steal the wrong orb and when they finally summon the legendary pokemon they can’t even control it. Great planning.

” I don’t see why people dislike it because of too much water. Well DUH that’s the whole point of Hoenn”

And I don’t like that point. Different tastes I guess.

          Reply
          • Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean others won’t.
Secondly, I admit the Magma/Aqua story line was basic and nothing too deep but it was still an epic and well structured story. Far better than TR. Yes TR are the nostalgic team that everyone adores but they were too basic and weak IMO.
At least Aqua and Magma took the initiative to destroy the world but at the same time you have the fun of watching them quarrel amongst each other!
You have more boss battles and it’s not always predictable. In Gen 1/2 and HGSS it’s always TR. In Sinnoh it’s always TG and Unova it’s always Plasma. With Hoenn you get different teams popping about and you get to see the development of conflicting goals and as a result this huge tension. It feels real and it really does feel like it’s BIG. That it’s no joke.

You don’t like that point? Meaning..
            – You disagree with me which is fine but I’m finding it hard to see any logical reasons other than you just hating Hoenn. Disliking Hoenn because of the abundance of water even though Hoenn is about land/sea and tropical environments, is just really stupid.

            – Or you disagree with me making this point against Hoenn haters. Well that’s just not going to happen as everyone knows that if you hate Hoenn then water has a good chance of being the reason. Again I couldn’t care less.

          • “Yes TR are the nostalgic team that everyone adores but they were too basic and weak IMO.
            At

            other!”

This has nothing to do with nostalgia.

I like team rocket more, because their goals were realistic and less sociopathic than most other teams.

They wanted to use pokemon to make money and gain control. That is something I can relate to. Wanting to destroy and recreate the whole world is something i CAN’t relate to.

That sort of plan is just pure madness and anyone thinking things through would realize how silly that goal is.

“You have more boss battles and it’s not always predictable. In Gen 1/2 and HGSS it’s always TR”

If I remember it correctly weren’t you only fighting one team in each version?

“You don’t like that point? Meaning..
            – You disagree with me”

No I’m not dissagreeing with you I just don’t like the basic design of Hoeen with tons of water everywhere.

As I said it is a matter of taste and surfing around everywhere is really boring to me.

          • Well that’s your opinion. I think most would prefer something more outrageous and different then the predictable money and power gaining scheme TR had going on. If RSE had a TR like team it would be bland. Aqua/Magma go perfectly with Hoenn. So you can relate to stealing/money etc? I prefer the more wild and explosive approach Aqua/Magma had. It sounds silly? Doesn’t everything else in Pokemon? In the sense that none of this is real and when we play the games we want our imagination to go wild. Aqua and Magma are much closer with their business. TR don’t cut it out unfortunately. But that’s down to opinion and let it stay that way..In Emerald you would fight both.

            How could you dislike Hoenn?

The region had the best design in size, non-linearity structure and just so many new amazing environments.
I will never understand this hate on the entire region because of water. I’d like to remind of you something you can buy from Poke Marts and occassionally find on the floor that might help you here – they’re called repels!
Without water Hoenn wouldn’t have that land/sea thing or at least it would feel less realistic.
Water is a change of pace and you’re not always in water. Just later on in the game. I mean Cities built on trees/water are just amazing concepts. That feeling of living with nature.
Then you have the awesome secret bases which in Hoenn were just WOW. And then the routes were so diverse, huge and amazingly detailed. In particular the more tropical routes. You had the desert, the route east of Fallarbor where you had ash clouds or whatever they’re called from the volcaona..then you had the burning hot Lavaridge town..and much more!
How could you hate Hoenn? :/ NVM..

          • Great design /= great gameplay.
Yeah I agree the cities were well designed. Doesn’t change the fact that i was bored out of my mind on those huge ass routes that didn’t seem to end ever. I prefer shorter routes to keep the pacing more balanced.

          • Again that’s your opinion. Most including myself prefer the detail and variety Hoenn gave than what you prefer.
And not every Hoenn route was big.

The early routes were short but did get bigger as you went along.
Never said great design consitutes to great gameplay. There are many other things about RSE that pointed to great gameplay. I’ll let you guess what they were LOL

  8. Any word yet on how soon into the game we can trade?? I’m so hoping we don’t have to wait until after the first Gym badge again :/

  9. So are those the only Mega Evolutions we’ll be getting in this game? If that’s the case, that really leaves a lot more to be desired. They only gave us 69 new Pokemon, and only 18 Mega Evolutions? You’d think this game would have a lot more Mega Evolutions since that is one of the new features that the game has been touting and hyping. I really hope we get more than just the ones shown.
