Roar of Time: Generation II

Yesterday we broke a long-standing record on the site: we finally beat the highest number of views we’ve had in a single day on the site, and we hope to beat the latest record come X & Y. Admittedly we slacked a little yesterday and didn’t bring the promised continuation of The Journey to X & Y with the start of Generation II. As such we’re a little unprepared for today, the planned article isn’t finished and we don’t have any back-ups. What do we do?! We try something new…

As each new Pokémon Generation comes around there’s always a list of new features and ideas fans want to see incorporated into the games. Whether or not anything of that list can be crossed off is of course down to the dedicated team developing the games. What if you could us Dialga’s Roar of Time to turn back time and make one change? Any change you wanted. What would that change be?

You could pick something obvious to change about Generation II, but we want you to think up something big and potentially game changing, but keep it realistic. Don’t forget to think about how the change would effect the future of the series, of course time is all wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey but in some way it would alter the games as we now know them.

What are you waiting for? Get those brains ticking and turn back the clock! We should also apologise for not publishing an article as we promised yesterday, but we’re kicking off the week now even if it is with this quickly thought up article. Hopefully it’ll get our readers thinking regardless!

  1. Raise poke levels and focus more on gen II. Was a pain trying to level up for the Elite 4 challenge. Ended up challenging them and losing over 5-8 times just for the level ups and money (amulet coin really came handy)

  2. From a graphics designer perspective I was in charge of creating the Pokédex for X and Y, so this is my favourite element of X and Y. This time we’ve been able to move into 3D so the actual Pokémon model will appear on the Pokédex screen and you can freely move it around, and look at the Pokémon from any angle.

OMG I’ll love the new pokedex 😀

  3. Junichi Masuda: Well… Now I have to think of something that, you know, won’t be used by competitors! [laughs] But one thing that I wanted to put in that didn’t quite make it was a translating machine for Pokémon cries, to find out what they’re saying. So you have this machine, and when a Pokémon cries out something, text would appear telling you exactly what that Pokémon is saying.

    Do you imagine that?:O

  4. Okay. This just somehow only occured to me now. In about 21 days, a new generation of Pokemon is upon us. I only focused on the news and the new stuff being revealed that I completely lost track of time haha. Time flies by so fast. January 8 seems like it was only yesterday haha xD

After seeing “No love for Grass and Ice” movement in new type chart, I’ve thought about what would they do back in the first chart update?

Hmmm. Maybe Grass having some resistances? I have thought about Ghost resistance, why would a plant effected by ghost? That’s my logic. Or Psychic resistance? And Ice getting resistances would be good too back in the day. They would have added poison weakness to water.

  8. Letdowns for X/Y:
    1. Starting location is back to a town. :
    2. Awesome mechanics may not return from previous games. :
    3. We have a male professor AGAIN, rather than a female. But then again, Patrice could be female and could be the replacement professor if indeed Sycamore works for Team Flare (random fan speculation.)

  9. I remember earlier this year I was being judged for preordering X the day after it was revealed. I just found out that that X and Y have sold over a million copies with PREORDERS. o.o
