  2. I love it. It’s one of my favourites shown so far, along with Shimama and Miruhoggu. I just hope it’s available early game. 😀

  3. This is an okay pokemon. I have no real like or dislike for Yanappu.

Although, I’m frankly getting tired of everyone comparing them to other pokemon from other generations. These are seperate pokemon from a seperate generation. Stop associating them, kthxbai.

    • Appu is unlikely to be a representation of “ape” in my opinion, since “appu” is pronounced similarly to the Simpsons’ character.

Also, it’s unlikely that the Japanese would break up the “na” syllable like that.

    • It’s not from ape. That’s a promise.
First of all Ape would be “eipu”.
Second, Yanappu’s name in Japanese letter pronounciation is YA-NA-P-PU. 4 letters. Meaning you can’t split a letter such as “NA” in half to make “A” ((A)ppu).

On English Pokesites people like to assume everything has some kind of origin. But to Japanese sometimes things simply have a “nice ring” and thats good enough to name something. Clefairy’s Japanese name for example is “Pippi” which has no real meaning however it sounds cute, light and happy.

  4. gahh my original plan was to use each of the starters for my first play through, now all i wanna do is use grass types. and unless it gets a crummy evo, i kinda want to use broccoli over smugleaf.

      • yeah, it really depends on their final forms. but honestly this is one of the first gen’s ive considered not using the grass starter right of the batt. and its all because of this lil guy. honestly im loving this gen. and also this is the first gen where i actually want to use the water starter.

  7. Hey everyone, look at it and see a mouse. Now you can’t unsee it!!! But seriously it looks at least a hundred times more like a mouse than a monkey.

    Reply
    • Not really. The ears are wrong for a mouse. Mice have ears on top of their heads, monkeys have their ears on the sides, just like Yanappu.

  8. I like the real one over the fake, the fake one looks like a reject teletubie I like every single 5th gen pokemon revealed so far( except goth Lolita it’s plain awful)

  9. The only Pokémon in gen V that I HATE is Gear. Steel types should’nt have blue clown noses.

Shimama has a fugly nose, but he will evolve, so no problem.

    • ahahaha you shouldn’t comment on this just to get your comment count up, and besides it won’t matter to much as the top commentor thing is refreshed each week. 😀

i remember the days when we had David and tsutaajafan and HGbeastness try to get number one and they just spammed to the point where they got 250+ comments in like a few days. ==’
