This guy. Couldn’t record video or photos but I’m going to be writing up a full hands on impression when I get home.

3DS Hitting America for $249.99?

3DS 300x244 3DS Hitting America for $249.99?

According to the latest from GameStop that’s what it will debut at.  There’s a press conference tomorrow (Europe) and Preview (NY) so we’ll probably get launch date & price for Europe and hopefully America as well.  I just thought I’d wet your palette with the information we have at the moment :]

ps- What would YOU pay for the 3DS?  Is $250 too much?

pps- I’d like to do a donation drive to raise money so that I can get a 3DS at the Japanese launch and do hands on videos for PJN.  Think we could raise ~$300 for that?  :(

3DS deets

3DS 300x244 3DS deetsThe Nintendo 3DS has just been given a launch date: Feb 28, 2011 in Japan and March for EU and US.  Some quick notes that were also announced:

  • “AR Games” (augmented reality) built in to make use of the camera
  • 2GB SD card included
  • MSRP: ¥25,000 or around $300 USD (most likely have a $250-$275 US launch price)

Nintendo 3DS Revealed!

3DS 300x190 Nintendo 3DS Revealed!

So will this be the system we play the 6th generation of Pokemon games on then?!  The top screen sports a 3.5″ 3D screen that can actually be toggled on and off or adjusted for how far away you hold the system.  The bottom screen remains the same as the DS and is a touchscreen.  That circular button you see above the d-pad is actually a “slide pad”, which apparently is a lot like the PSP’s analog stick nub.  It seems to be aligned with the ABXY buttons, so Nintendo is gambling that it will get more use than the lower positioned old fashioned d-pad.  Also a new “Home” button, similar to the Wii, has made an appearance.

Joystiq [also: photo credits] mentioned that the Kid Icarus trailer showed graphics of Pit that looked almost identical to his Brawl iteration.  Intriguing!
