FAKE – 3DS XD: Gale of Darkness Remake!

Images have surfaced of what appears to be a Nintendo 3DS port of Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness.  This could be another elaborate 2ch hoax! The Japanese is correct, and the girl’s name is Mana though, so we can’t immediately rule it out like some of the scans have that popped up. From the top screenshot it looks like the overworld may have been turned into a 2D sort of map, but it’s hard to tell from a still shot.

I’d like to point out that I’m extremely skeptical of this because of how taxing it would be to add in all the 3D models for pokemon that didn’t exist when the original game came out.  If they were making a game like this, it’d be much more efficient to port the engine but create a totally new game with it.  Please do not believe this is true until something more substantial confirms it.  For now treat it as false. 🙂

Update: As our eagle-eyed reader Chardan points out, the blue slider was only used in press shots before the 3DS was actually released.  The blue model has a grey nub.  I think we can officially rule this out as FAKE!

  1. I doubt it is a port. I think Nintendo or whoever is making that game knows very well that people wouldn’t want to play with only gen 3 and prior pokémon.

I’m really psyched for that game! 😀

  2. Fake, the 3DS has the blue control nub, which was present in the prototupe 3DS models I believe, as it is grey now. Also, why not make a sequel? A port sounds stupid considering the potential of Orre and the fact Pokemon are returning in XD, so a sequel could expand upon this.

  3. Well whoever has played the japanese one, do you remember the exact dialogue that is shown here?? I have a thought it’s photoshopped or something.. Also, If it’s updated to 5th gen and they’ll do the subsequent gen 3d models why not making a whole new remake? And doing that will alter the whole story imo..

  4. Fake? Oh well…

Anyway, we know they are working on a Pokémon game on the 3DS, and it’s always better to have an original game instead of a remake or a port! 🙂

  5. You don’t even need to look for wrong colored sliders or evidence of photoshoping, as you can just go what the fuck, how, why, wait what?
This is fake simply because it doesn’t make any sense in the first place.

  6. Obviously it’s not (and can’t be) a *direct port. It even says remake in the title. The term port can be used loosely.

  7. You guys do realize this still has potential of being real.

1: This game could have been in development as a port from when the 3DS was still in dev with those screenshots.
2: They could have simply put the image of the in development blue 3DS as a mistake and just because of the sheet helpfulness of that view of the 3DS, while not realizing that the system was still in the works.
3: The image is blurry and the circle pad still looks slightly grey. It could be that the entire image is tinted or some color is off.

This being said, it could also be fake. But I don’t see any reason to rule out this just yet and calling it FAKE. We’ll just have to wait and see.

  8. The Japanese is not correct.
Stuff like “評価:すべて” is meaningless and is just broken Japanese.
It’s probably some dude who just typed in “Rating: All” and put it through a machine translator.
