Rayquaza, More Gen III Pokémon Coming to GO!

Even more Pokémon native to the Hoenn region are coming to GO!

Starting tomorrow, several Dragon and Flying-Type Pokémon, including the Altaria, Salamence, Pelipper, Swellow and Metagross evolution lines will be catchable in the wild! The Flying/Dragon-type Legendary Rayquaza will also begun its stunt as a Legendary Raid Boss alongside Kyogre until March 16th.

In celebration of Rayquaza’s ascension, Generation III Pokémon will exclusively be taking over spawns worldwide until February 13th, Raid Bosses and Egg hatches will have some new additions, new special boxes – which include Raid Passes, Incubators, and Star Pieces – will be available in the in-game store until February 23rd, AND Lure Modules will run for six hours a pop in the same time frame.

Lots of exciting reasons to get out and GO this month – and this isn’t even counting the imminent Valentine’s Day event! I’m just excited that I’ll finally be able to catch one of my all time favorites, Altaria!

    • Congrats I’m planning on going after this one after Celebi. I was wondering if mind blown is a move I should be cautious of? For instance will Blacephalon use it to the point of fainting?

      • I played off of it, I let it use it once then Spored it with Smeargle. You do need to be careful of it though it didn’t use it again I’m not sure if it could. I used a catch power so as to lower the risk. Also Beast Ball helped, luckily I think it suits it best anyway.

          • Having battled many more it seems to only use Mind Blown once. It still has a strong Fire Blast and the Special Attack Aura + Special Attack Beast Boosts help it alot. I am using Gastro Acid to suppress the ability now, you might want to Haze away the Aura Boost too but really as long as it’s halved its’ own HP you can just keep Sporing it as needed.

So I just found out that my co worker at work who was fired last week has apparently went to i asssume corporate claiming that my boss showed favoritism towards me and that I should have been fired too. Okay then…. was always nice to someone and now I find out they decide to talk crap behind my back. Appreciate that you jerk.

  4. Is there a good set for mixed offenses Blacephalon or should I just try for a 0 Attack HP Grass one for my second? Probably won’t try for another Shiny unless it just happens.

  9. Just realized that I haven’t tried out the new mons on Showdown. I forgot to do this after USUM but really wanted to. But anyway, are there any particular USUM mons that I should try out first?

  10. Whelp Whitney was a disappointment. Was very easy to beat her and my highest leveled Pokemon was my Bayleef at 20. Clefairy was nothing. Then Got a Poison Powder off on Miltank and that was all she wrote. Only casualty was Phanpy. which is unfortunate as I love Phanpy. Well anyway it’s done and I didn’t even need a fighting type move. Gen 2 Whitney you disappoint me

  14. Well I came to a tough decision. Discussed it with my dad who is my boss at work and have decided it’s best for me to leave. My health has gotten bad since I started working there. Have asthma really bad and the coal mines have had a negative effect on me. Have had so many bad coughing spells the past few months to the point I was short of breath and it messed with my immune system as well. My health comes first and hopefully in doing this I can get tons of practice driving in and hopefully in next month or so finally get my license and hopefully another job. And thanks to everyone earlier for the support I really do appreciate it

  15. Back in Red and Green (Blue overseas), we created the so called ”Hidden Machines”. It was a way to progress through the game when you obtained a badge and you can cut down a tree or light up a cave. We made it unforgettable on purpose because once you’re on an island and you were to forget Surf or Fly, there was no way you could escape. Starting in Diamond and Pearl, we noticed that a lot of players used Bidoof and Bibarel as an Hidden Machine user. This saddened us, as it meant that players didn’t fully see the true potential of a certain Pokémon. In Black and White, we made the amounts of HMs smaller so players were obligated to teach their Pokémon that they had on their party Surf or Strength. We thought this was a good way to strenghten your bond with your Pokémon. In X and Y, we put Bidoof into the game to make players see what a cool Pokémon it can be, but players still used it as a means to use Hidden Machines on it. We started to brainstorm some ideas on what we can do in Sun and Moon and we got the idea for Poke Ride. This meant that there was no requirement for Hidden Machines anymore. Poke Ride will be an exclusive feature to Sun and Moon only so in future instalments of the franchise, we have to think of other ways but we can assure you, Hidden Machines are gone for good.”

    • Well this is good and bad. Disappointed because I wanted to see better pokeride options. The pokemon they chose were just okay. At least HMs are gone. Hilarious to see them acknowledge Bibarel as an hm slave. I mean, clearly they had to know considering they gave it such a huge range of HMs.

    • I wonder what will replace the ride system. Maybe all Pokémon will have abilities outside on field? Example all water Pokémon can surf, all large flying Pokémon can fly you to places etc.

  20. And wow Dusk Mane Necrozma is so much fun to use on Showdown. Prism Armor helps, and the move pool Necrozma has is really helpful with Dusk Mane (such as SD, Automize).
