Rayquaza, More Gen III Pokémon Coming to GO!

Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

  • The fourth Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Global Mission has begun! The goal is to harvest 30,000,000 PokéBeans by February 19th. If the mission is a success, then participating players will receive 2,000 FC (4,000 FC if they have their game connected to the Global Link) while a mission failure will result in players only getting 1,000 FC  (2,000 FC if Global Linked)
  • Version 1.2 of Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon is live! Requiring 539 Blocks, this patch is required to continue to use all online functions and fixes various bugs:
    • Fixes a bug where Curse, Forest’s Curse, Power Trick and String Shot could cause the game to freeze during Live Competitions

Pokkén Tournament DX

  • From February 23rd through the 26th players can participate in the Underworld Ruler Group Match! This cup is a Team Battle competition on a Fixed Battle Arena, as usual. Participants will be given a special title based on Aegislash, while those who place higher will be rewarded with more special titles
  • Quick reminder that the Psyfirecracker Group Match is currently on going until tomorrow!

P-Sports

  • For those interested, Episode 2 of P-Sports ~Aim to be a Pokémon Battle Master~ is now available to watch on YouTube

Pokémon GO

  • For the time being Plusle and Minun are both available world wide! There’s no word on if or when they will revert back to their original region exclusivity
  • Shiny Swablu has been confirmed as the shiny for the latest wave of Hoenn Pokémon, making it and Shiny Altaria officially available in game
  • For those in Europe, on February 24th, the next Pokémon GO Community Day, all Unibail-Rodamco Shopping Center locations across Europe will have Lure Modules activated from 9am to 9pm local time! To go along with the event, the following specific shopping malls will also hold special events for Pokémon GO players as part of the Community Day festivities:
    • CentrO (Oberhausen, Germany)
    • Centrum Cerný Most (Prague, Czech Republic)
    • Confluence (Lyon, France)
    • Fisketorvet (Copenhagen, Denmark)
    • Höfe am Brühl (Leipzig, Germany)

Pokémon Duel

  • The special Queen Cup Carnival Events has begun in Pokémon Duel! Until February 12th users can play against other another online to earn points and access rewards such as the Dragonite figure

Pokémon Shuffle

  • The new Comfey stage runs until February 13th
  • A Pokémon Safari featuring Magikarp Costume Pikachu, Gyarados Costume Pikachu, Charizard Costume Pikachu, Shiny Rayquaza Costume Pikachu and the new Surprised and Dizzy Pikachu is available until February 13th
  • The following stages have begun repeat runs until February 13th: Shaymin Land Form, Shaymin Sky Form, Dialga, & Palkia

    • Favorite: GO. I love all the people that it brings to the franchise, even if a lot of them are filthy casuals. Ninantic also does add a bunch of cool stuff to the game regularly as well. It’s just a shame there’s still so much improvement to be made.

      Least: Magikarp Jump: I played this pretty regularly for a while, but eventually just stopped. The lack of content pretty much killed this game for me and it’s not very interactive either.

  10. Is all the Gengar merchandise to try and make us forget they ruined it by removing Levitate? I love Gengar and always have, though I could never use one in game until I played through my Sisters Pearl version and could actually evolve it.

    But I’ll explain better.
    Apparently most leaks are from translators of these games
    And all translators are only hired to translate parts of the games script
    On the website known for major leaks, also correctly leaking the last two games..
    A few alleged Translators felt the new games may be a Kanto remake, due to the heavy Kanto references in the part of the scripts they were translating.
    Along with Blue appearing in the games “confirmed”

    Very interesting… It is a big leap from the 3DS to Switch.. they have been amping up the nostalgia factor for years now.. and the switch seems to be targeted at not old.. but older kids.. seeing as the 3DS still has some life and many parents are apparently still buying it for their children..

    I wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted one of their strongest fan bases on their side, the genwunners, as a sort of “guaranteed” success tactic for the new games.. hmm… Especially if the battle mechanics are greatly changing

    Just hopefully not a remake.
    We don’t need that again.

  15. What do you guys think of the battle system changing.. it’s a bit of a scary thought but.. I honestly feel it’s the shake up Pokemon needs to survive 10 more years. Honestly, it would be like a fresh start without actually starting over.

    Everything has to get More and More complicated… In fear of boredom it would seem. I think GF knows this..
    In my mind.. they are trying to create a more classic system for battle.. one that doesn’t constantly need to outdo itself.
    Kind of how I read an article about how the Switch is Already “obsolete”.. in the sense it was Already released with outdated graphics.. so no one can complain. . It’s quite genius actually..

    The new battle system will flow as easily as the change from FF’s turn by turn system into a button smasher.. yet satisfying.. I hope

        In theory at least .. a good Shake up is Needed.
        It’s really all about how good it turns out to be if people accept it or not

    • The Switch ins’t obsolete

      It isn’t tacking the audience the Ps4 and XBone is tackling. No one gives a sh*t about graphics on switch because it’s portable. That sales pitch is already enough to sell more in a year than the Wii U did its entire life span

      • “Obsolete” .. not really obsolete. It was just a catchy title for the article. As I explained.. the Switch is already far behind on the software side.. but we all love what it can do. The fact that it’s a handled is it’s biggest seller and the article mentions that too. They are praising it.
        Saying while the PS4 and Xbox have set themselves in the trap for better more expensive graphics.. the Switch can improve itself with what it does best basically.. being inventive and going at it’s own pace.

        I’m still a PS4 boy myself tho… Tho I sold it 0_0

    • I’m still going on my old stance of “if it aint broke, don’t fix it”.

      But it’s looking very likely that the leaks are real because they come from such credible sources aka people who knew about Team Rainbow Rocket in USUM early. Larry on Twitter (good friends with PokeSirena) says the battle system has been made “more simplistic”, so I’m hoping that’s a sign that they don’t go too overboard. I’m really on the fence. If the battle system changes are that bad, I’m considering quitting the series.

      • Part of me feels it’s already simple.. unless they mean like breeding and stats what not..
        It does seem they feel pressured to add to it lately each game.
        I still hate how they handled megas.
        Like it should have never been created if they don’t put out a new wave of them eventually

    • Pokken exists, buy it if you want that. Pokemon is also strategy, this has also made the franchise great. Imagine the anime, with pikachu kicking pokemon while ash press a button…The battle system can change of course and the serie needs it but I don’t think that destroying 20 years of types/abilities/moves/ivs/evs would be a great idea…

  16. I like Gnoggin, but he just made a theory that Cryogonal (and Dhelmise and Minior) can learn attract because it’s an elemental and in ancient times Nymphs were considered elementals and nymphs attracted people

  19. People need to Stop tearing Everything I say apart.. and putting me somehow on the Opposite side of things. Then they get upset when I clap back uncalmly at times. It’s because its each comment I post! If they even bothered to Read my original comments well enough in the first place.. using their Proper reading skills.. there would have been nothing extra to say.
    Its like I have to type Everything in layman’s terms or they can’t comprehend a basic metaphor.. It’s only 2 people actually.. mostly

      • Doesn’t mean they won’t cover something in some capacity. Unlikely I know, but they may have at least a teaser. CoroCoro isn’t the place to find exclusives on Pokemon anymore like it used to be. They may tease it in the magazine and then leave the full reveal up to a trailer on YT.

  24. Tbh I want GF to just get weird and freaky with Gen 8 . Experiment and do some crazy stuff. Turn the series on its head for a little while. Something that we won’t expect. Change can be good. It doesn’t have to be long lasting change, but even bad changes can be useful. If they make a game that has some crazy good changes and some crazy bad changes then that’ll tell them what they need to do for the next set of games.

  32. A week of nothing too important pokemon wise IMO. Just been having doing some monotype. I made it to mid 1600s then I dropped like ALOT this morning. Hax is pretty fun, I digress.
    I dont play Mobile Pokemon games, so I dont have a proper answer.. the Amino app is pretty nice.

    1) There’s already a different Cosmog in the game for us to get
    2) It makes more narative and character sense for her to keep it

  54. Got a bit further in Omicron, I beat Team Olympus at the museum in Onega Town and I just caught Rotom (nicknamed him Wisp).

    Debating whether or not I should use him or not because having the Rotom form moves and stats early on seems a little overkill. If I did add him, I’d keep him in his fan form though for right now so he isn’t overpowered.

    • well before we talk about looks and design we need to tackle a bigger more important question how

      now Eevee’s extremely unstable genetic makeup can shift based on most any type of reaction, now easily its susceptible normal typing makes elemental stimuli extremely plausible

      but something like Bug is difficult due to mammal to insectoid metamorphosis being extremely unheard of

            Probably due to the radiation of the Water Stone and sensing the need for a body that suits aquatic environments but then again the science behind the mechanics of a elocutionary stone are vastly understudied

          • its cells are similar to water… makes sense to me, i mean naturally not in our world but this still makes sense i mean it may not literally melt into water but its body becomes transparent and translucent in a body of water making it appear it melted into water

          • Acid Armour and the anime shows it literally dissolves in the water. Don’t deflect by saying ‘Oh, but it might be this instead’. Vaporeon would die if it actually dissolved the currents should separate its body, and any water soluble chemicals in its bodies are gone.

            If it can suddenly grow fish traits, it can suddenly grow insect traits.

          • well the reason why is due to being very in-tune with emotions with the trainer it evolved with needing a strong bond with its trainer, sensing the feelings through its….feelers
            but at the same time its a defense mechanism to discourage hostile prey allowing it to strike so its kinda flip flops

            but then again its the fairy poster boy, the official site claims it was one the first pokemon identified as a fairy

  64. Pokémon that you believe don’t deserve a lot of hate/under appreciation?

    I feel so bad about the Porgyon line. Sure, they were on the banned episode, but that doesn’t mean they should be extremely excluded from being in the anime.

    And another thing was that it wasn’t even Porygon that caused the seizure-inducing explosion. It was the mascot itself Pikachu, and the Porgyon has nothing to do with it. Yet tPCi decides to completely censor this line, which sucks.

    Evolution method: i had an idea clearly stolen by Karrablast and Shelmet (And a little bit of the Fly) that trading with a Bug type will cause the electrical wavelength to crisscross their genetic code and knowing Eevee the traits will bombard Eevee’s cells and mimic it

          • at least they have reasons Vaporeon grew gills and fins to suit aquatic life

            Mew not so much because it is a wildcard as the ancestor of all pokemon and does not favor any specific type

            i’m trying to say there should be a reasonable sounding reason behind it just to at least try to make it sound well thought

          • Simple. Eevee’s genes are unstable because it’s not as evolved from Mew as others. Mew does favour a type because it has a type itself, Psychic, and the majority of Pokemon are Water-type meaning that’s another form of preference.

            Eevee’s unstable genetics allowed it to tap into dormant bug expressing genes to allow it to compete with insects. Maybe insects overtook a forest area Eevee lived in. Maybe they were its only available prey.

          • that’s dumb all eeveelutions are based on environmental stimuli,

            i still feel the trade induced evolution is the most plausible because if it would be close to the code it could copy and ping out on it, or something better i just don’t see why or how it would feel the need to compete with other bugs or if it was being overtaken it would either relocate or simply be preyed upon not every creature can adapt to save its butt when a clear and obvious predator moves in

            something external like a bug move or a held item it holds that contains insect DNA SOMETHING PLAUSIBLE other than just happening, because y’all may think Gamefreak does this randomly they don’t most of their ideas make sense in their own way, and before y’all start with cheap shots like slugma, dedenne, alolan raichu and all legends just just to prove me wrong just to make me feel stupid for everything don’t even bother replying because GF does in fact put thought into the majority of pokemon

            Day and night shouldn’t cause such a big difference between Espeon and Umbreon.

            Sylveon isn’t even environmental based, it’s social based.

            You overestimate GF. It’s a monster series aimed at children. There’s logic, but it’s flexible.

          • -Vaporeon’s dex states that it changed to suit aquatic life
            -well each of them gain significance based on moonbeams or sunlight
            -i’ll give you that one but i’m still chalking it up to fairy type poster boy
            -you all underestimate it, and i’m using their logic, yeah yeah no living rat can shoot lightning (Looking at you Fairy) but in their pokemon biology they really do make use of possible biological functions like pikachu having electric sacs and Incineroar’s Flame belt

          • Moonlight and sunlight are the same thing.

            You can’t use Fairy shilling as an excuse for everyone.

            Their logic is basically non existent. Lightning sacs or flame sacs would never occur irl because anything using it would kill themselves or die or malnutrition.

    • Idea for a better evo method:
      You can leave pokemon with Type specialists (like in the Daycare). They can learn moves (of the specialist’s type) that they couldn’t otherwise. If you leave Eevee with the Bug specialist, it Evolves.

      • Maybe, but not to the degree I’m seeing now with the rumor about the battle system. Imo I think it’s a little silly to get straight up angry about a rumor that gives us no further details other than it’s not turn based anymore. We have no way of knowing how well the new system would work. People should see it for themselves and try it first before getting so angry. Not being comfortable with the change yet is one thing, but saying that you’ll quit the series because of it is a bit ridiculous. Also I find it silly to think GF shouldn’t be able to change anything big after 22 years. It’s their game and if they want to try something new why not give it a go? Worst case scenario they learn from their mistakes and move on.

  89. So should I use a Rotom in Omicron? I dunno because it would be really nice to have, but I just beat the 2nd gym and caught this thing, and I can already change its forms, so having Hydro Pump/Leaf Storm/etc. would seem like overkill. Have never used this thing in game before though.

  95. Let’s hope that a Direct is announced tomorrow, I doubt it though. I think they’ll either do a Direct to tie in with Bayonetta or instead shove it somewhere between Bayonetta and Kirby. No way they’ll wait longer than March 16.

    • There was one New Years Eve at least a decade ago where we had family and friends over but I insisted on playing Wild World or City Folk (can’t remember) and watch the countdown there instead of with family. A couple of those kids continued to give me sh*t years later, but I just wanted to experience an Animal Crossing New Years.

  99. An interesting image showing how Spike Chunsoft is one of the few partners to not have announced a Switch game. They just so happen to be the developers of the Mystery Dungeon games, and the last one was in 2015.     • Oh I would absolutely love to, it’s just a matter of time and having a project I’m motivated to do. If I was going to do a Rad Red 2.0 I would want it to be longer and more of a unique game.
