Kanto or Sinnoh: Which Will See Switch Remake?

Many fans are eager for a return to Sinnoh—a region left unexplored since Pokémon Platinum was released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS—but it isn’t necessarily the only title which may see a remake in Generation VIII or beyond. Pokémon Red & Blue/Green never got a true remake on the Nintendo DS or 3DS, although Kanto was seen in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Solid information is nil on the Nintendo Switch Pokémon game, but interestingly enough rumors about Kanto and Sinnoh being remade keep popping up.

Kanto

FOR: Haven’t seen Sevii Islands in almost 15 years, no true remake in just as long, more mature Red & Blue (JP Green) teased in Gen VII

AGAINST: Already saw Kanto in the Nintendo DS in 2009, Red & Blue have already gotten a remake, fans may be tired of the original story

Sinnoh

FOR: Original Diamond & Pearl games came out over 10 years ago, fan interest in seeing Gen IV again is very high

AGAINST: Game Freak may be waiting to release their next remake considering Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire only came out 3 years ago

What do you think?

  1. Update: I found my gamecase. It was tucked between all of my xbox games which are in a box that I never put my DS stuff in..3 people in my family even looked through it, including me. But I’m really glad I found it. Looking over my games it’s crazy all the memories I’ve made with these games…Super thankful rn. But I’d like to thank everyone for calming me down last night. It really helped me feel better lol

  2. I love how the C gear looks. It’s such a cool UI. Really wish it had more uses and now that BW online services are dead it’s really just a pretty thing to look at haha

  3. I mean considering the new remake won’t be out till like 2020, that leaves a fair amount of time between remakes so I don’t see that being an issue for DP remakes

  5. Okay real talk why is this even a debate? Why would Kanto get a re-remake right now in comparison for Sinnoh? Literally a cancerous amount of people want a Sinnoh remake and GF obviously has to satisfy that. Do you hear ANYONE asking for a Kanto one? Ask yourself that

  6. If Arms 2 happens, it should have skins. There’s a lot potential for them with these characters and I think it could make the game more interesting overall.

  7. Not to spam but on the topic of Sinnoh, I did really enjoy the underground features.
…though locking Spiritomb behind them was a bitch

I’m honestly hoping for a platinum or maybe even larger sized pokedex for the game so we can ACTUALLY have type variety

  8. Real talk: Kalos has amazingly designed and named Gym Leaders. They all have natural(ish) names and besides Wulfric I think they have great designs

But they all got absolutely shafted lol because XY

  9. Ambipom is a kinda cool design with no other reasons for existing.
Lickylicky is the same, but without a cool design.
Ambipom should be Normal/Fighting and Lickylicky shouldn’t exist.

      • It adds literally nothing to it’s prevo. It’s just fatter with few details. It’s more like a Mega than a real evolution and I don’t think anyone asked for it.

          • It’s a development on its theme. Not a new thing.

Lickylicky has a bigger tongue and a bib. Developments on the licking theme

          • The other tail is just making Aipom ‘bigger’ in regards to developing the theme. It isn’t drastic and barely changed anything.

          • Ambipom being given a second tail would be like if you added a second tounge to Lickylicky. There’s a diffrence.

          • No. It’s just giving it another hand to develop the theme. Like making the tongue bigger adds to its theme because of how much it relies on its tongue.

These are both new functions that allow the Pokemon to do more. You’re thinking in absolute simplicity with no thought towards how these developments are similar. Aipom got more hand, Lickitung got more tongue

          • A bigger hand just makes your hand bigger and barely adds any utility because of how a hand is structured. A longer tongue can be used for more, like to wrap or grapple.

          • A second tounge could allow it to eat more at the same time, and use the tounges like arms/tentacles, which would be useful looking how short its arms are.

          • So? That’d look worse from a design standpoint because it’d look like a literal alien and a longer tongue is still a development. Moreso than the second tail

          • Sigh, I just have no idea why GF put time and effort into making this mon. If they saw potential for an evo in Lickitung, I think they didn’t use any of it.

          • Sigh, I just have no idea why GF put time and effort into making Incineroar. If they saw potential for an evo in Torracat, I think they didn’t use any of it.

          • It’s to illustrate that people can use this point for any evolving Pokemon because it’s subjective

That aside, I like Incineroar but it’s not a good evolution for Torracat. Even its stats are disjointed from the rest of its evo line.

          • No. It isn’t. Torracat sets up a lithe, hunter-esque design due to its stature and stats. Which doesn’t happen.

What you said makes no sense. If it was a good prevo, it’d have a good evo. It’s a two way relationship.

I’d rather have a developed version for the evo then something completely rando

          • It’s obvious that Torracat was designed after Incineroar, someone had to design a prevo for Inci. They did a good job, even tho Inci could be disapointing as Torracat’s evolution.

And also GF was going for more of a “pick a fight” mon with Torracat, you can see that in the entries. The hunter thing is just your interpretation and the stats are just based on the fact that it’s a cat/tiger.

          • How is it obvious? If anything, if something was designed after Inci it would’ve… You know. Looked more like Inci. The only thing they have in common is the fiery accessory. If they designed it after Inci, not only did they do a poor job, they failed terribly. They should’ve incorporated subtle hints to its development.

‘Sun: At its throat, it bears a bell of fire. The bell rings brightly whenever this Pokémon spits fire.
Moon: It boasts powerful front legs. With a single punch, it can bend an iron bar right over.
Ultra Sun: It can act spoiled if it grows close to its Trainer. A powerful Pokémon, its sharp claws can leave its Trainer’s whole body covered in scratches.
Ultra Moon: When its mane is standing on end, you can tell it’s feeling good. When it isn’t feeling well, its fur will lie down flat.’

None of this is pick a fight. I’m going for hunter because that’s what cats and tigers are. It’s a typical cat. The only thing that hints at Inci is Torracat’s punches but that isn’t visually obvious and could refer to a tiger’s lunge.

No other starter Pokemon has such a statistical disconnect between stages. It goes from fast frail mon to bulky slow mon. It doesn’t feel good because you spend most of the game with your Torracat going fast and enjoying it and it feels bad when it slows down. It’s bad game design.

Incineroar, from an objective standpoint, is a terrible evo for its line. If Torracat was designed before it, it still makes Inci a bad evo for the line if it’s the only thing they could make up for the line.

I like Inci. Just not as Litten’s final evo.

    • “Head back into town”

You know what that means, and somehow with all these leaks I feel like a direct is coming but then I remember that it even hasn’t been announced yet…
