Pokémon Fans Should be First to Denounce Logan Paul

By now many of you have probably heard about the corpse that “YouTube personality” Logan Paul (and crew) found, filmed and subsequently mocked in Japan. It was a terrible moment for social media and anyone who uses it because of how plainly it exposed the vapid and narcissistic depths to which it can sink and how far some people will go to attract viewers.

What you may be less familiar with is that during his time in Japan Logan Paul continued his antics with a video of playing “real-life Pokémon GO” on the streets of Tokyo. I won’t link directly to the video (if you watch it please do so on a mirror to deprive him of the views), but he harasses hapless Japanese passerbys in various ways. Walking into a sushi bar he throws the plush Pokéball at an unamused chef, runs into traffic dressed as Pokémon characters and even tries to get a rise out of a police officer.

This has now gained traction in various Japanese outlets and while the general understanding seems to be that he is a crazy YouTuber, it was not a good impression of Westerners—and certainly not for those of us who actually like the Pokémon franchise. If you want to visit Japan in the future (and I recommend it, great country!) it is particularly important that Japanese people see us as generally respectful and willing to learn. Therefore I think we all have a small duty to pushback online against this sort of repugnant behavior.

We should recognize as a fandom that this sort of behavior is not acceptable and anyone masquerading around in Pokémon costumes and harassing people is not something the Pokémon community condones. And that stand whether or not it’s Logan Paul. If you want to take action there’s a petition to get him removed from YouTube as well.

  7. So my mother lost my DS case, which had nearly every single pokemon game in it as well as ocarina of time, majoras mask, and a Link between worlds. I’m so upset and I’m on medicine that makes me moody so I’m even more mad/sad. Those games are such a huge chunk of my life. I really hope the case turns up

  8. How in the world did Ash, Misty, and Brock get lost so many times when more often than not when they were in the woods they were traveling down a straight clearly marked path? It’s not like they are ever shown just walking in the middle of the forest where there’s no path. So how in the word can they get lost?

    • Man oh man you hatching shiny after shiny. Glad the magikarp method is working for you! I may need to try it some day…
      So do you get the shiy magikarp look at the IVs and then choose a pokemon based off it? Or do you already know whch pokemon youre doing next?
      And How do you always get IV missing atk/spA? That’s like perfect luck

      • Actually I was breeding Aipom for this and since I save fairly often when this came up I switched it then. For the method I just get the Magikarp/whatever then try one of the ‘mon I’ve been wanting a shiny of. I try doing egg rejections to re-roll IVs or the ability etc if they aren’t what I want. I’ve actually had more not be in the right place or one of the ‘wild’ IVs is lower than I’d like instead of perfects. Oh and I have always bred the parent of the shiny Pokemon I’m going for in advance to the point where it has the IV spread I want on the shiny, as well as a Male foreign Pokemon I’ve traded for with similar IVs and hope for the best.

  14. Two things before I go to bed

    First that guy Logan Paul sounds like real arse, hope he gets kicked off

    And secondly, I just proved I could never make it in the real world, because I had to call my dad and ask how to make my dinner because I didn’t understand how to use the microwave 😫

  16. I think……maybe this is gonna be my team for my playthrough of Black. I’m not 100% sure tho. It’s certainly not exactly what I would have thought my team would be, but as I was playing around in the team builder I realized I’d need to be level headed about it and pick Pokemon so my team was relatively well rounded.       • Cool. I’m a little iffy on Scrafty, but you can’t beat the type for this region. Should be an interesting build. I just gotta remember that I can get Axew just after Driftveil (I think?) I always forget that cave is there.

          • Yeah I’ll have to back track a little. You don’t get it until Twist MT and that’s after you beat Mistralton gym I believe

        • What’s wrong with Scrafty? With Moxie as the ability, Drain Punch, Crunch, possibly Dragon Dance if you breed it, and plenty of other coverage it should do great. Unless you dislike the design?

          • There’s nothing inherently wrong with it. I’ve just never really felt a strong pull to it. Maybe after this I will tho

          • Will prolly steer clear of Hi Jump Kick. It’s too risky of a move. Powerful sure, but is it worth it? I’m not so sure

          • I guess it depends on how much you need its’ power. Drain Punch should see you through once you get the TM, you can always use Brick Break before that or even as well or I guess instead if you want. Maybe Rock Slide would be a useful coverage move.

It isn’t out of the question at least since Activision hinted at it coming to other platforms in the future. Fingers crossed I guess! Oh and screw Logan Paul! And Jake Paul too they both suck!

        • Oh, well then I guess it is possible, still don’t believe it until an official announcement which would have been made by now I think with the release date given.

          • Exactly. It probably would’ve already been on Xbox one. But I think the thing is that the games that the N sane trilogy are remastering were all Playstation Exclusive while the series didn’t become multiplat till later.

      • It used to be but it became multi platform after Activison got the rights. I hope it eventually comes to switch. Would love to have it on the go so much! All I can say is if it happens my need for a PS4 is going down a lot 😂 I just need KH3 to come to switch and for telltale to put all the walking dead seasons and I will be happy! And maybe a bioshock collection 🤔

      • Activision bought Crash, they put up the trilogy on PS4 first, but they have all the rights to put it on Xbox or other consoles.

  19. So I’m trying to find a Scraggy with Moxie and I started thinking. In modern games is there even a place for the ability Shed Skin? With Amie/Refresh I feel like you don’t even need it anymore since the friendship effect does it already for you.

      • Same here although the *leaks* do tide it over some. That’s the reason I shared the likely fake crash video although I would LOVE it to be real. I would quite literally scream if it actually happened eventually lol

      • I am pretty confident that we will get Kirby’s release date at least! I plan to preorder a copy for me and as a very late Christmas present for my nieces! Yoshi is a maybe but I want more info as well!

          • I haven’t really touched my 3ds since I got my switch lol once Pokémon comes to it and I can get my bank transferred that’s it lol

          • Yeah it’s the first time I haven’t played a Pokémon game nonstop. Usually when I get a Pokémon game I can’t put it down with US I enjoyed it but overall I think I could have done without it.

  21. Kirby is a franchise that could really serve to break free from the traditional platformer elements that it’s always been accustomed to. More exploration, less linear gameplay. A 3D Mario approach to the franchise

  22. So predictions for 2018! Games I think that will come to switch this year!
    Pikmin 4 – Nintendo has pretty much hinted that they have been working on this for a while so it wouldn’t shock me if it comes this year. Maybe 1-3 comes to the eshop to hype it up?

    Metroid prime HD collection- pretty self explanatory metroid prime 4 probably won’t be out until 2019 at least in my opinion and this would be a great way to hype up 4 and could get people who haven’t played the prime games ready as well!

    Animal crossing switch- just a feeling that it will happen this year. Most likely late 2018 release

    Super smash Bros Switch- I have a feeling that this will be announced anytime. Could release in 2018 but may not happen until 2019

    Donkey Kong country switch- wouldn’t be surprised at all if this happens. I wish that Nintendo could get the rights back to the kremlings but I don’t see it happening unfortunately

    Pokémon switch- not entirely sure on this but it wouldn’t shock me if this is the big release for this year! If not this year early 2019 is likely

      Digimon world/story Switch – yeah I am fan of both Pokémon and digimon lol

      Bioshock collection switch- I would love to have these games on the go

      Mega man legends 3- capcom stop toying with us and give us this game already for all the consoles.

        • I have some slight hope since capcom is releasing megaman 11 in new art style as well as all the x games coming to every console. That said my hopes and very low lol like 1% low. and yep I am a huge fan of both! Also I really need to look up persona 5 haven’t watched its gameplay yet since I can’t get it lol
