There isn’t anything exciting to report about Pokémon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to talk about! I want to know if any of you have decided on teammates to use in the new games or if you even have an entire team already pre-planned for your run-through!
It is a bit early, since we don’t know if there will be any new Pokémon besides UB: Burst and UB: Assembly or new forms, such as Necrozma’s or Lycanroc’s, but the ability to trade Pokémon from the original Sun & Moon mean that you have a lot of freedom to plan and breed in advance. When we first stepped into Alola we didn’t even have Pokémon Bank to bring our favorites into the new region.
Don’t forget, there’s a whole lot of new wild Pokémon running around the islands as well! You can see some of them above.

I haven’t really settled on a team because I am still fully expecting for there to be new Alola forms. So what I have been trying to do is create a template of 4 Pokémon that can cover each other’s weakness. This is in no way final but I really like planning teams so I had to do something during the first month when USUM was announced. I have already used both Primarina and Incineroar so I will be using Decidueye. As of now I don’t want to use any Pokémon that I have already used extensively in my last two runs. I am currently a fan of the last one.

AloMuk is amazing!!!! Honestly wish I stuck with my AloGrimer on my first run because he saved me from losing to the first two totems but the run after I stuck with it and loved it!!!
So far I’m thinking of using Araquanid and Mimikyu, that’s all I’m pretty much certain on right now.

I’ve been waiting to breed shiny ones of them to use in my team. If there are no new ‘mon or forms I should still be able to build a pretty good team around them.
I’ve bred all three Johto starters in eggs with egg moves and specific balls to trade over and hatch, might not use all three but there’s one for each Alola starter

Every second games in a gen (HGSS, B2W2, ORAS etc) I don’t plan my team, so I try to do the same in USUM… buuuuuut I have few ideas for mons I wanna use.
Few of them:
Decidueye (Might use Primarina, but less likely)
Lycanrock Dusk (I’ll use him for sure. I kinda like the design and the fact that he’ll have Thunder fang makes it really cool)
Alolan Persian (I’ll use him for sure too. I actually like the design and it like my second cat)
Crabominable (I kinda like him, but I’ll only use him if he gets a Zmove

I already have a few mons planned for at least Ultra Sun (I still don’t know if I’ll be able to get Ultra Moon too, or if it’s worth it), and I’ll breed them all (inside Apricorn Balls) in Sun and trade the eggs for USun: Arcanine (Fast), Sharpedo (Lure), either Magnezone (Heavy), Tangrowth or Alolan Exeggutor (both Friend ball), Honchkrow (Moon) and Steelix (Heavy). Obviously, I’m also going to use the cover legendary.

I often do them before I go to sleep, though I have never used them in a playthrough iirc.
I make ones based on characters from movies/TV Shows often, sometimes book/manga characters too. Occasionally I’ll do a colour theme team but they often turn into mono-types.
Ultra Sun: I will probably use Incineroar, Toucannon and Tsareena, and if I can get the pre-evos early: Zoroark, Volcarona, Ampharos.
Ultra Moon: I’m not sure, but Primarina and Toucannon will absolutely be on my team. Maybe Dusk Lycanroc, too…

I’d say power creep is more because Pokémon never used to be so min maxed, now most Pokémon have at least one stay they’re amazingly sucky at in comparison to their BST
