Pikachu Outbreak-Chu Event: Mewtwo in GO, Snapchat Filter & More!

To tie in with the Pikachu Outbreak-chu event in Yokohama, Mewtwo has officially been released via Legendary Raid in Pokémon GO as an exclusive to the Pokémon GO Stadium event in Yokohama, Japan!

Mewtwo in Pokemon GO

Shortly after Mewtwo’s first appearance in the stadium, Niantic released an official statement that it would be coming to players worldwide via a new mechanic called Exclusive Raid Battles. These work exactly like regular raid battles with the only difference being to participate in them you have to be invited to them. To receive an invitation trainers must have successfully defeated a raid boss recently at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be taking place – meaning that it’s completely by chance and there’s no way (that we know of yet) to predict which Gyms will spawn an Exclusive Raid Battle later. The invitations will include advance warning of when the Exclusive Raid will take place, giving trainers ample time to coordinate with other Trainers before taking on the powerful Raid Boss.

It was also confirmed in the statement that Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Lugia will be returning to Legendary Raid from today until August 31st!

Pikachu Snapchat Filter

Along with Mewtwo, a special Pikachu snapchat filter will be available for the next 3 days! The filter gives you a pair of signature Pikachu ears, nose and red cheeks (and luckily enough also air brushed my skin and shaved off a good 10 pounds from my face) – if you open your mouth it activates Pikachu to charge in from the left side of the screen to give you an electric kiss, allowing your face to give off bolts of electricty before Pikachu returns to the bottom left of the screen. There is no additional use of the filter on the back facing camera.

Check it out below:

Ditto & Mimikyu Distribution

Last but not least, in addition to the announced distribution of Pikachu at the Pikachu Outbreak-chu Carnival Parade in Yokohama, two other Pokémon are having a special distribution: Mimikyu and Ditto! Mimikyu is Level 10 with the moves Astonish, Copycat, Baby-Doll Eyes, and Splash, while the Ditto is holding a Light Ball.

  1. Well, here we are. The final night of summer (for me). It’s been good to me, but the good ones never last. As depressed as I am about this news, I’ve decided that this year I’m done with letting anxiety run my life. I sorta did that last year, but not to the same degree. The extent to which I actually care about school just keeps going down, which is a great thing. Two years ago, I poured my heart and soul into my work, and it was exhausting. Last year, I just told my self “let’s half-ass it and see how it goes,” and it worked out the same for me. So I guess, no matter how much I try, I’ve plateaued? So this year I’m going in with the attitude of utter and complete nonchalance and optimism. So in that spirit, the best part about going back to school is not worrying about wasting my summer, since that’s now water under the bridge.

Sorry for the complete randomness, but it felt good to get it all out there, write it down somewhere (or I guess, type it out).

As for someting barely related, I can’t wait for Gamescom! Nintendo seems to be more serious about participation this year than ever before.

    • Enjoy school while you can. I was treated horribly at school but still miss it, largely due to what my life is now. Point is try your best, just don’t burn yourself out.

      • That’s a second goal I thought of this morning that I forgot about just now- I’m gonna try to savor the moments, even the tedious ones, because I don’t want to look back and think I missed out.

    • Definitely agree with the school part. I know people who spent way too much time working their butts. Staying up long nights finishing homework, doing too many extracurriculars, etc.
I used to work very hard studying and reading in my freshman/sophomore years. When I became a junior, I pretty much just stopped studying. By the end of senior year, I genuinely stopped caring about some classes (didn’t need the college credit) Still got the same grades (all As). Life is going to have so much stress later down the road — enjoy what you can now!

      • It sounds like I’m in the exact same boat as you were in. I tried super hard freshman year, and didn’t try very much sophomore year (except a 10 hour cram for a AP test, but that was my own fault) and got the same grades. So I’m gonna see how far I can push it and try even less! Not to say that I’m gonna let myself go, but I’m gonna loosen a reins a little and see where it takes me.

        • Sounds good 🙂 I took all AP/IB classes my junior/senior years, so the demand was much higher but I still did fine. Just curious, what are you taking?

          • In terms of advanced/interesting things, AP US history, AP phsyics, a java class, and a game design class (that one I’m really hyped for). Other than that it’s pretty much just normal stuff.

          • @starstorm295:disqus, you’re in school now too right? And I think also taking an AP? What else?
I like knowing just because I like seeing if I’ve done them. I want to be able to help 🙂

          • Wish I could help with the AP WH, but I took that over 4 years ago, so I don’t remember much. When you get to the contemporary stuff, I may be more of a help!
What’s the A for in 2A? My school just had Algebra II. But if you need help w/it, you feel free to ask! I’m a math major 🙂

          • I took APWH, and as much as I want to give you advice, I really don’t have much. Read the practice book I guess? I studied that for like 10 hours in the three days before the test then got a 4. Units 3 and 4 always got me.

  2. Going back to school reminds me, we really need a new AC game! I played the heck out of new leaf on my often 45 minute ride home a couple years ago, and I wish I could do the same this year. Maybe Spring if we’re really lucky.

  3. Holy shit I should be sleeping probably but I just realized Nebby represents Lillie’s entire character arc. After leaving the AF that was cruel to it, Nebby is forced to stay in the bag just like how Lillie is forced to live in quiet as to avoid the AF finding her. As Nebby keeps trying to escape, it represents Lillie being inspired by the protagonist to be her true happy self. But Nebby is always returned to the bag and Lillie has to stay quiet and suspicious

It is only after Lillie realizes she doesn’t belong to her mother when Nebby can evolve into Solgaleo or Lunala and Lillie can become her own person.

I doubt GameFreak thought this through but if they did they have some great writers trying their best

  6. Good morning deers,
    Question of the day:
If you could be any first stage non legendary pokemon in the next Pokemon mystery dungeon, who would you be, and why?

  7. Do you guys think that since the Tapu have a hidden ability (Telepathy) we’ll see them distributed soon, maybe with something new? The Gen IV mascots (including Johto) got Hidden Abilities, probably because they were distributed through Dream Radar in Gen V, and it’s the same with the Forces of Nature (who got new forms in BW2). The Tapu and Forces of Nature are the only legends introduced after Hidden Abilities to get them.

  8. You know what I’m really confused about? Like, all the Alola Starter’s stats are fine imo for their basis, because design will usually win out over comp viability. But who the hell decided to make Incineroar the bulkiest? It does better defensively than the other starters besides Primarina in Special Defense, where it does around the same as Deci, but it’s no competition for physical bulk.

My one complaint about Incineroar is that its stats don’t flow off of Torracat very well, because it goes from frail and strong to beefy and strong, which wouldn’t be a problem if that wasn’t every Alola Starter’s role. Like seriously, if you play Deci and then Inci, or the other way round, imo it’s boring because you’re going from one physical attacking tank to another, except Deci can actually be a mixed attacker, is a bit faster, and has reliable recovery, whereas Inci has the better defensive stats, access to a tank boosting move (Bulk Up) and a life draining move (Leech Life)

Like seriously if they were going to make all three Alola starters tanks, they should’ve given them all reliable recovery. Slack Off for Incineroar, Wish for Primarina, and Deci keeps Roost. Or they should’ve just made Inci faster and dropped a bit if bulk because the starters should be more varied ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • Oh, they’re kinda similar indeed, in both you fight a Pokemon that is stronger than normal and only occur in some cases. But in raid battles you have the help of more trainers while in Totems they have the help of more Pkms.

But I don’t think they’re related, like, I’m not sure if Pkms in raid battles are bigger (it seems to me that they aren’t) and they don’t have any aura. And Pokemon SM and GO doesn’t many connections if none at all so I certainly don’t think they’re related.

      • I hope that in gen 8 we get to see a wormhole opening for the first time in a region and later at random places totem-like raid pokemon appear that you can catch. Maybe when you catch them they go back to their non totem state, but in battle you can “mega evolve” them into totems

  9. I heard a rumour about the switch game to be settled in China. Here’s why:

    – Pokemon Stars was a code name leaked. We all thought about the sequels of sun and moon, but actually their code name was Pokemon Rainbow cause they were settled in Hawaii. The Chinese flag has stars on it as a rappresentation of the chinese people.
    – Chinese has been added as a playable language to the games.
    – Ryuki is dressed as a chinese red dragon (has the chinese flag colours too) and says: “The name’s Ryuki. I’m what you might call a STAR. I mean, with partners like my Pokémon, how could I not be a STAR? I came all the way across the sea here to Alola to spread my fame out here, too! The whole world will be mine soon!”. If you want to reach the Hawaii from China you have to cross the sea. His extremely long ponytail is also reminiscent of Manchurian Chineses.

    What do you think?

  10. The Signature pokemon of your Water specialist rival!

    Derpa (Derp + Nerpa)

    The cute seal pokemon
They lay next to lakes all day, protected by their parents. They are very popular, due to their small size and cute face.

    Evolves with happiness into

    Baikeal (Baikal Seal)

    The Lake Seal Pokemon
They are strong fighters and dangerous predators. They protect the lake they live in. They are great partners for any pokemon trainer.

Evolve with a Water stone starting at level 32 into

    Swimaster
    Water
    The Powerful Seal pokemon
They are feared by many pokemon and loved by anyone Who lives in their lake. They will defeat most wild pokemon. They are used by many powerful trainers.

    • A small baby fat seal with Grey skin. It has a spherical head with a very cute face

A seal simmilar to Derpa, but bigger and standing on its tail. It has thick Dark Blue whiskers, and a a little bit less cute face. Its Fin-arms are sharp

An even bigger, more muscular version of Baikeal. It has even thicker Dark Blue whiskers and “armor” of the same colour on its head, Fin-arms, tail and “shoulders”.

  12. How does this concept sound? Dumb or dumb asf?

    Hound 1, Hound 2, Hound 3
Dark-types, based on different guardian hellhounds. First evo is based on Garmr of Norse mythology, second and third evos are based on Orthrus and Cerberus. They’re heavily associated with biting moves – Hound 2 learns the attack Dual Fangs, which attacks once as a Fairy-type move and once as a Psychic-type move, whereas Hound 3 learns Triplet Fangs, which hits as Electric, Ice, and Fire-typed in quick succession! Hound 2 has the ability Dualist, and Hound 3 has the ability Tripartite. They learn moves such as Bite, Crunch, Psychic Fangs, Unfair Fangs, and Thunder/Ice/Fire/Poison Fang.

Dualist – Pun on duelist and dual. Halfs the power of attacks (rounding down if the value has a decimal) but allows them to strike twice. Doesn’t effect moves that already hit multiple times, or Z-Moves.

Tripartite – Same as Dualist, but attacks are reduced in power by 33% (rounded down if necessary) and are used three times. The animation for the move only occurs once though. Doesn’t affect Z-Moves or multi hit moves

Unfair Fangs – Fairy-type Psychic Fangs, removes Mist, Safeguard, and Lucky Chant.

Doduo and Zweilious get Dualist as Hidden Abilities, and Dodrio and Hydreigon get Tripartite. For Doduo and Dodrio, Tangled Feet (their old HA) replaces Run Away and their new abilities are the HAs
