Pikachu Outbreak-Chu Event: Mewtwo in GO, Snapchat Filter & More!

To tie in with the Pikachu Outbreak-chu event in Yokohama, Mewtwo has officially been released via Legendary Raid in Pokémon GO as an exclusive to the Pokémon GO Stadium event in Yokohama, Japan!

Mewtwo in Pokemon GO

Shortly after Mewtwo’s first appearance in the stadium, Niantic released an official statement that it would be coming to players worldwide via a new mechanic called Exclusive Raid Battles. These work exactly like regular raid battles with the only difference being to participate in them you have to be invited to them. To receive an invitation trainers must have successfully defeated a raid boss recently at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be taking place – meaning that it’s completely by chance and there’s no way (that we know of yet) to predict which Gyms will spawn an Exclusive Raid Battle later. The invitations will include advance warning of when the Exclusive Raid will take place, giving trainers ample time to coordinate with other Trainers before taking on the powerful Raid Boss.

It was also confirmed in the statement that Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Lugia will be returning to Legendary Raid from today until August 31st!

Pikachu Snapchat Filter

Along with Mewtwo, a special Pikachu snapchat filter will be available for the next 3 days! The filter gives you a pair of signature Pikachu ears, nose and red cheeks (and luckily enough also air brushed my skin and shaved off a good 10 pounds from my face) – if you open your mouth it activates Pikachu to charge in from the left side of the screen to give you an electric kiss, allowing your face to give off bolts of electricty before Pikachu returns to the bottom left of the screen. There is no additional use of the filter on the back facing camera.

Check it out below:

Ditto & Mimikyu Distribution

Last but not least, in addition to the announced distribution of Pikachu at the Pikachu Outbreak-chu Carnival Parade in Yokohama, two other Pokémon are having a special distribution: Mimikyu and Ditto! Mimikyu is Level 10 with the moves Astonish, Copycat, Baby-Doll Eyes, and Splash, while the Ditto is holding a Light Ball.

  1. I’m surprised Pokémon hasn’t done snapchat filters before (as long as I remember), that’d be an amazing way to promote games XD

  2. I think we are going to get news about USUM during the VGC world championship, which is this weekend. I am also hoping that they will expand the Pokken Tournament roster a little bit more. I hope they reveal 2 new fighters for Pokken. I am guessing there will be a trailer for USUM over the weekend or on Friday at the earliest. I just want to see if the tapus get therian forms.

  3. Well I have no interest in GO, Mewtwo being in it doesn’t change that, a shame it won’t be as epic looking catching it as the trailer made it seem, but we knew that. I do now have a slight urge to watch the first movie though.
I don’t use Snapchat but that filter looks pretty snazzy.

  4. Lol I love this Pikahcu filter. Why is it not default though. I sent it to all my streaks with my Pikachu toy and the Pikachu in the filter. Three pikachus

  7. It’s cool that Mewtwo is now available, but like, we’ve been waiting for so long after Niantic hyped it up in that teaser trailer almost 2 years ago. Glad it’s here now, but still.

  8. My prediction for gen 8 (pokemon switch)
Fancy graphics, like a mix of sun moon and oddysey
    a lot of marketing
The new megas/zmoves like a third type form that makes the pokemon bigger, but doesn’t change appearance
    New UBs
    Aether
Gyms and Totems (called something diffrent, like “Guardian Pokemon” and you have to beat them to battle the gym leader)
Region based on the UK with big events happening in rl london
Not openworld, but more locations than usually, bigger, more detailed region

    • I love it, I grew up more with disney’s comics than duck tales, but this is an amazing homage to both rn I love the ending especially

  9. They should do Gen 4 remakes as the very first Pokemon Switch title. Sinnoh has the most potential for an open world setting, because its already the least linear region of the franchise.

    • No. That would be dumb. Pokemon Switch is a chace o show off what pokemon is NOW. That takes away half the creativity they can use for a switch title. Just wait a little longer.

    • It isn’t a bad idea but I find odd that GF would release a remake as their first title on a console, but GF has been breaking patterns lately so who knows

      • Or it could be very smart, because it’ll allow them to introduce new mechanics in a familiar setting for the players.

    • Sinnoh is the least linear region? How so? There is things to do once you obtain stuff like Surf and Strength, but almost every RPG should contain areas off the typical path! Also, I do have to agree with Butter Geek for once, that’s a fairly lackluster presentation of what they could do on the Switch. I rather have them make something entirely new to represent Pokemon on new hardware.

I would love a D/P remake at some point, but I utterly detest it being the first title.
