Weekly Wrap Up is our end of the week digest of smaller news stories that are just as important, but didn’t get a dedicated post. Here’s what you missed from July 31st to August 6th!

Yokohama Pikachu Outbreak-chu Event

  • A special Pikachu (crazy, I know), will be distributed for all those who attend the event from August 9th – August 15th – although no other details on why this Pikachu is so special have been revealed yet
  • In conjunction with Pikachu Outbreak-chu, The Pokémon GO Park event will be held at the Cup Noodle Museum Park and Red Brick Park in Yokohama from August 9th-August 15th! There will be several Pokéstops added to the parks as well as more spawns for rare Pokémon within them: including starters, Larvitar, Chansey, Farfecth’d and, most notably, the Europe exclusive, Mr. Mime.
  • We’ll also be there to cover the event – stay tuned!

Pokémon Sun & Moon

  • The No Holds Barred Battle Competition has been announced! This Single Battle competition allows you to use all Legendary and Mythical Pokémon except: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Arceus, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Solgaleo or Lunala. All Pokémon will be raised to Level 100 during the competition, and you can run duplicate items and Pokémon. Registration for the competition runs from August 17th to August 24th, while the battles themselves take place from August 25th to August 27th. All those who register will get 50 Battle Points. For more info, the Download Rules for this competition are available in the Festival Plaza!
  • The previously revealed Salazzle distribution event in America will also be available in Europe from August 18th to September 18th! You’ll be able to pick up your’s from Micromania in France, via Nintendo Zone in Germany, from GAMESTOP in Italy, Intertoys in the Netherlands, and GAME in the UK and Spain.

Pokkén Tournament DX

  • A special white version of the controller revealed last week will be available launch day in the UK – check it out here!

Pokémon GO

As previously reported, Niantic has postponed the European Safari Zone event. To compensate they have revealed that several rare Pokémon, including regional exclusive Kangaskhan and scarce spawn Unown, will start appearing in the following cities across Europe until August 21st:

Pokémon Shuffle

  • A new “Start of the Month” challenge has launched! For the first three days of each month you can play of the selected stages at random. This month’s stages are Audino (reward: 3 Mega Speedups), Bulbasaur (Skill Booster L), Charmander (2 Mega Speedups), Squirtle (5,000 coins), and Espurr (10 Hearts)
  • A new “Great Challenge Daily Pokémon” challenge launched as well. Each day you’ll get access to a previous Great Challenge Pokémon. This batch includes Hoopa, Winking Togekiss, Winking Wigglytuff, Wailord, Keldeo, Greninja and Omasta
  • The new Tapu Koko stage is now available until August 15th
  • The following stages have begun repeat runs from July 31st to August 7th: Goodra, Regice, and Suicune

  6. Now that I’m think about it, there’s so many Alola Pokemon that could potentially get a new form. A male version of Salazzle, a natural evolution form for Crabominable, a new Oricorio form, and even a new revealed Mimikyu form too.

  10. Can someone help me? I’m trying to find a fake leak for a Ribombee evolution. It came out around October 2016 close to corocoro and had many different other fake Pokémon on it. It was similar to that one where it was a drawing by the leaker

    It had a Ribombee evo that was sorta like a Meloetta and florges combination. It seemed to be based on pop star

With the inclusion of this new form of rockruff im hoping they add more Alolan forms because im really trying to only use pokemon native to the region (before the elite 4) like i did in SM and the chances of finding some if these Alolan pokemon that i havent used is like slim to none or they’re located too far into the game when i have my team already set up

    • Same except I might run out of things I want to use, like I don’t have any desire to use Gumshoos. I know I’ll probably be using this new Lycanroc and Araquanid but not sure what else yet.

          • I was actually surprised how useful Minior was after i caught it. Definitely didnt need the Flying typing since it only learned one move and it wasnt even SkyDrop… its a fuckin meteor and it didnt know skydrop ???

          • Sky Drop is grabbing the opponent and taking them into the air. Minior can’t grab anything like Aerodactyl for example. I’d use Acrobatics.

          • I guess… but its a meteor and it literally drops from the sky ??? i just use my Minior as if it was a pure rock type

  16. Is it just me or did the Pokemon on the CoroCoro cover seem darker in color and very different from this new form we got? Could there be a fourth?

  18. We always share the best soundtrack on here, but what’s the worst official soundtrack in any main Pokémon game? Like, just badly produced, ultra lame or boring. Lavender town doesn’t count since it’s the most awesome.

  19. Now that I have some extra cash left from birthday, I can finally buy RPGmaker xp! I’ll make a short RPG to gain some experience in using the RPGmaker and after I finish that I’ll start working on my pokemon fangame!

        • Not as far as I know. The trial is just free, and it’s supposed to expire after 30 days. If you feel bad about that kind of stuff, then go ahead and pay for it. I just set my clock back a couple years, open the program, and then reset my clock. Got the trial in 2012 and I’ve been using it since 🙂

          • Yeah, Imma a legal boy, I prefer paying for things that cost money.

            What do you have to say about using it? Do you think it’s easy to use? Does it require a lot of coding?

          • I prefer it over ROM hacking, by far. I think it’s easier to use. Importing tilesets into ROMs can be pretty annoying, from what I remember (that was like 6 years ago). Importing music and tilesets into an RPG Maker XP game is super easy. Mapping is relatively easy. You won’t have to code anything, unless you want to custom-make something. Some events you might need to use the “Script” button for, which is where some other “coding” takes place. I don’t use it often, but when I do it’s usually for simple stuff. You can find all the information you pretty much need about it here: http://pokemonessentials.wikia.com/wiki/Script_sections
            Everything else is straightforward. You want the player to teleport? Use the “Transfer player” button. You want to play a sound effect? Use the “Play SE” button. It’s all very easy. There’s a ton of tutorials and resources (like the wiki I linked) available. When you load RPG Maker XP with Pokemon Essentials, you’ll be given a bunch of maps that help explain a lot of things too!

    • I’m so interested to play this when you’re done. Your maps look really professional, and this is no exception.

      Also, how long have you worked on this project? I feel like I remember you posting about it from the ORAS days, but I might be wrong. Either way, you’ve gone a lot further than most fan games.

      • The one you’re probably thinking of was Jade Jungle — the only other one I’ve worked on here.
        This particular project was started maybe in December 2016? I technically made the region map two years before that, but never imagined making it into a game.
        And thank you for the kind words! I put a lot of effort into every map. This one was particularly challenging in trying to figure out a good layout.
        I’m not sure when this will all be finished though. I’m not even halfway done with the mapping. And of the story, I’ve only implemented the introduction. So I’ve got a long way to go 🙁

  37. So I got Mario Karted on the 2nd lap of Grumble Volcano. Tried to avoid a banana, but couldn’t, spun out into the lava, Lakitu recovers me, I get hit by a red and then bumped into the lava again, Lakitu recovers me again, and I get struck by lightning. Yet at the very end I managed to just eek out a 1st place win. Welcome to Mario Kart.

    Glass Cannon (All attacks do 100% more damage but takes 50% damage from incoming attacks)
    Sizzlica resembles a funneled volcano made out of a sandy white mineral, flaming eyes and toothy jaw, it has a thin crystalline encasing covering most of its body except for its tube shaped arms and peg like feet which act as flame ports it can expel excess fire and waste materials
    “Sizzilica eat and cook minerals inside their body and let it harden around itself like a shell but since of the shell’s fragility it aggressively spits raw materials to keep it’s shell safe”

  40. Bah I’m so close to making a full living dex and had to put Froakie, Fennekin, and Delphox in the bank to complete gen 6. Unfortunately I think my 3ds has a problem catching my internet signal and errored out. So now I gotta wait before I can get back on. So dumb….Oh well. I suppose I can use this time get my duck in a row for gen 7. Then I can transfer up everything I got. I say living dex, but it’s really a living dex minus the Pokemon I have from my main teams. collectively it’s a living dex I suppose lol

        • not a fan of the animation. i also dont get the appeal of adult cartoons. Im not a child so im more than capable of watching but like i never understood why people try to make shows for adult audiences. spongebob was originally going to be a show for adults, ren and stimpy was made into an adult cartoon, and now that regular show creator is making one

          • The animation is good, it’s the art style you don’t like which I understand.

            But animation isn’t for children. It’s popular like that in America but it isn’t. It’s an art form just like anything other art form. You can do so much more in a cartoon than a live action show

          • no i understand it. but a lot of cartoons now a days are for children specifically. If you look at older cartoons like tom and jerry and looney tunes those arent for children altho i grew up watching them. I get that animation itself isnt for children specifically but its not often that there are adult specific ones. Rick and Morty just doesnt appeal to me

  54. I don’t hate Lycanroc Dusk, but I certainly don’t like it either. I think it’s a cool idea to capitalize off of Dusk and Dawn, since certain predators are active during those hours, but this feels kind of like a reskin, and not in the good way. I like the design, but I feel like they are pulling a Yokai Watch right now by reskinning/creating this evolution. I have nothing against them doing it, but they need to have a good pokedex entire to support why it wasn’t possible for it to exist in normal sun and moon. I think if they do the stat distribution correctly this mon should be fun to use. I am not against them doing things like this, so I guess you can say I am on the fence about it. At the end of the day I am going to use it in the game at some point since I like the color combination. I think I would be more ok with this if they said it was a variant from another region, since different ecosystems exist in different regions that can effect a pokemon genetic structure cause that particular pokemon to adjust to the ecology/climate/ food chain of a given region. Also, I am sorry for Rambling about Lycanroc Dusk. I do think it will be an interesting pokemon. I just hope there is some legit lore/reason behind it.

  56. I’ve never been less excited for a Pokémon game. I hope they drop a trailer soon. I hope not all the new Pokémon are as bad as Lycanrock. I hope the Necrozma forms aren’t as forced as the Kyurem forms, I hope the plot is good, I hope it’s not an alternative universe…. blehhhg

  74. First one of my 7 new regional forms!

    Slavian Bidoof
    Electric/Normal
    Living in the Big city caused them to often collect wires instead of branches. To make that easier they became Electric types.

    Evolves after learning Surf (at level 15) into

    Slavian Bibarel
    Electric/Water
    They live in the river in the middle of the city. Their high voltage teeth will ignite wood, so they have to use only metal and wires. If you plugged a phone into its nest, It could charge it for weeks.

Right now my roommate is doing all the music composition, but he hasn’t done much b/c his laptop broke. I’m not sure what you use to compose, but he uses a program called Finale

            I had wanted the music to resemble that of other Pokemon games, but I’d prefer consistency. Because of that, I’ve linked the one theme I have so far that my roommate made. I don’t know much about music, but I guess you’d call it realistic 🙂

          • From what i hear it sounds pretty soundfont based or at least more similar to music from a game than realistic. When i said realistic I meant like XY or Sun and Moon realistic, but i’ll try to get as close to this as possible
