European Safari Zone Events Postponed

The Pokémon GO Safari Zone Events that were scheduled to take place across Europe on August 5th (Copenhagen and Prague) and August 12th (Stockholm and Amsterdam) have officially been postponed.

No doubt in reaction to the recent Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago, Niantic has decided to delay the events until an undecided, later date in the Fall. However, the September 16th Safari Event (Oberhausen, Paris, and Barcelona) and the Yokohama Pikachu Outbreak event on August 16th will continue as planned.

To compensate, Niantic will have Pokémon spawns that are rarely seen in Europe to appear in game in certain European cities for a brief time. You can read the announcement in full at their official Pokémon GO blog.

        • To each their own. I find that for certain shows the Dub can be better and for other the original Japanese can be. I started watching in English so that’s how I’ll continue to watch it. It’s a huge deal to me lol

          • A huge part of the reason I watch many more shows in English is because sometimes I like putting shows on in the background while I’m doing work or other stuff. That way I can understand what’s happening without having to read dialog

          • I prefer dub for almost every anime, but with Pokemon the dub is just bad. Especially because of how they remove the music and stuff isn’t​ as hype as it’s in sub

          • Yeah for the most part I watched dubbed anime. The only time I watch subbed is when it’s a show only out in Japan at the time. Like right now I’m watching Boruto or when I subject myself to watching One Piece………That can only end badly for me….I always get so far behind and having to marathon it hahaha

        • Still sold extremely well compared to other games

          Plus USUM have the bonus of

          – Existing when interest in Pokemon is somewhat revitalised

          – Possibly introducing new Alola Forms, maybe even new Pokemon and Megas

          – Better advertising, as of late Pokemon puts more effort into their campaigning than just Japanese reveals whilst leaving the rest of the world in the dark

  67. Of course with the GS virtual console coming up there is a lot of speculation that there will be Johto Pokemon with Alola forms. And some people are hoping that the Johto starters will get Alola forms. So I tried to think of what Avenue Gamefreak would go with this and here is my conclusion. First, only the final evolutions will have Alola forms; in SM there were only 18 different Alola forms of 9 evolutionary lines. I believe that like the number of Megas in ORAS matched the number of Megas in XY, the trend will continue for # of Alola forms in SM compared to USUM. Thus if the entire line had Alolan forms that would be 9 already. The ability changes I listed are not really based on any correlations and are more like changes I would do to improve them. Please let me know what you think. And I will do the other two starters later, but for now my sister’s favorite starter of the Johto trio when we were kids.

    Meganium
    Grass/Dragon
    Ability Change: Overgrow -> Queenly Majesty
    It’s evolutionary move Petal Dance will be replaced with Outrage (basically the same kind of attack) and at the very least it’s ATK and SPA stats will be switched. I know that we already have a Grass/Dragon in the case of Exeggutor, but the typing makes some sense. Meganium is based on a Sauropod which is a Dinosaur and has been associated with Dragon typing before (ex. Tyrantum) it is also able to learn Dragon Tail through TM. Grass/Ground could also be argued for since it learns two ground moves by TM and if Gamefreak does not wish to make a trend by associating Dinosaurs with Dragons. Also I know that Aurorus was a Dinosaur as well but it was part of Fossil duo, it was unlikely that they would have made them both of them Rock/Dragon. Especially with how few Pokemon (not including Megas) were introduced in the Kalos dex was.

    • To be fair, HGSS wasn’t exactly stellar in the levelling department either

      I might tho, just because them sweet sweet hidden abilities we get from transferring. Also because since virtual console Red Gen II is the only Gen I haven’t played

How do these names sound for a Water-type cow Pokemon, which starts off as a buoyant blue calf and then slowly evolves into a half serpent, half cattle sea creature (its theme is water bovines, based off of the Scottish mythical creatures water cattle (cattle that lived and water and bred with normal cattle, the calf being an omen or blessing depending on your belief) and crodh sith (fairy cows, which swam to graze on better grass away from their fairy masters), before developing into the Greek Ophiotaurus (a half serpent bull, which can grant one the power to defeat the gods if they burn its entrails)

    Oxbo (Oxbow (used on oxes and bullocks) + oxbow lakes (named for oxbows)) > Urusi (Urus + Sea) > Taurrent (Taurus + Torrent)

    They’re all placeholders rn anyway

        • No. I think there is a comfortable distance between the two evolutionary lines as long as if it has a distinct enough design and it’s changes between evolutions aren’t as drastic as Magikarp to Gyarados was.

          • Oh yeah, it’ll defo look like a more natural transition, basically the tail just becomes more and more prominent until it’s half sea snake, and the back legs look weaker and weaker to give hints to it losing them. Although I’m considering just giving it a long rail to represent the serpent part?

  71. What if the new Lycanroc form’s gimmick is its type changes with Z-Crystals? Like Rock/Normal with Normalium, Rock/Psychic with Psychium, etc. Just remembering old speculation about Rockruff’s collar being the inspiration for the Z-Ring’s design.

  80. i’m trying to do some research on how much bigger a Totem Bewear would be
    in the Dub To Top a Totem, Totem Gumshoos is claimed to be three times larger than a Gumshoos. so it is normally 2’04” so times 3 is a solid 7ft
    But in the game and anime it looks like twice the height plus half

    so on average Bewear is on average 6’11” an inch shy of 7ft so if a totem Bewear is twice as tall with a little extra it would be a terrifying 13’8″ or if a little extra a solid 14ft tall
    So take a already towering creature that contains already mindshattering strength that has a feared reputation of killing innocents out of accidents and make it bigger heavier and surrounded with a powering aura

    Water (Primarina)
    Electric (Raichu)
    Ghost (Decidueye)
    Dark (Incini)
    Psychic (mew)
    Normal (eevee)
    AND MAYBE they can make some that ARENT gen7 or GEN 1 Ppokemon. Seriously there are 5 Other generations of pokemon. Cmon Can they get SOMETHING.
