Niantic has announced the official start and end dates for the original legendary bird trio in Pokémon GO via twitter!
- Articuno: now until July 31st
- Moltres: July 31st to August 7th
- Zapdos: August 7th to August 14th
Like Articuno and Lugia, Moltres and Zapdos will only be encountered and caught via Legendary Raid Battles. Each only last one week, so catch ’em while you can! No official end date was given for Lugia.

I think these are kind spread too close for main game gyms (Hau’oli > Heahea would be kinda long but not too bad, about normal Gym travel time for Heahea > Royal Avenue, but Avenue > Konikoni is cutting it a bit short without intervention but isn’t the worst we’ve had in the series, Konikoni > Maile has only a quick Aether separating them, unless maybe Maile is after Route 15 and Hokulani? In which case, the super short trip between Hokulani and Maile is null, but Route 15 is a decent distance no matter how you cut it on Ula’ula. With Aether, Maile to Seafolk isn’t too bad, but at the same time, Route 15 to Seafolk is a long time, but about normal for the Gyms 7-8 gap).
TL;DR I think they’re too closely spread at times to be the main goal of the game, whereas if we’d already travelled the region it doesn’t mean as much.
Some of these places seems strange for there to be a gym, like the royal avenue, route 15 and Hokulani observatory
To be fair, Alola isn’t exactly high on populated areas :p
I’d say Royal Avenue isn’t too weird because it is a civilised area (although unknown if people live there) and I’m guessing Hokulani Observatory is because the Observatory attracts attention anyway, but I think Route 15 is a Seafoam Gym situation – a gym was placed in an odd area because the settlement it would’ve been placed at (and in Seafoam’s example (Cinnabar), where it was placed) was destroyed.
If these spots are becoming gyms in USUM, doesn’t that mean they’ve hyping up USUM even before the game was even announced? :0

True. I was thinking about the dimensional travel being a thing because of how Solgaleo and Lunala can travel through alternate dimensions when you bring them to the Altar in SM.
Type guesses: the 7 types unused by the Island Challenge (7 trials + 4 grand trials, leaving 7/18. Might be a way to get those ‘rogue’ Z-crystals you get in SuMo) and one typeless gym, like HGSS. Also like HGSS, the Elite 4 will overlap with other specialists in the same region.
Assuming that that none of the Island Challenge Trials change type, that would lead us with:

Psychic (Faba?)

Rather than TMs, what if this is how you get more Z-crystals? And then, you get your Key Stone from the final typed gym, or some sort of exclusive Z-Move.

I have a fun idea for you all. So as USUM is potentially going to have an alternate universe, the characters in SM may totally be different in this version. So as these characters are prob going to be different, you guys can come up with what differences and changes the characters have.
For example, in USUM, Guzma received loving support from his family that allowed him to become able to beat the island challenge, to which he was able to fulfill his dream of becoming a trial captain. As captain, Guzma seeks to guide trainers on the right path in their journeys just as his family helped him in his direction of life.
I think Guzma’s too old to be a captain now, they forfeit the job at age 20
Maybe, but then again, he could be a Kahuna instead.

Eh, I mean it makes sense. These are young kids who’re probably not receiving as steady a stream as Gym Leaders, and besides the Ula’ula Captains none of them are in a building so being a captain will probably take up a lot of their time – time they may not have as adults.
It also allows more opportunities to be a trial captain which is cool because it lets you get involved in your culture more

Trials are meant to be Alola only though, a cultural thing. They could do something similar and name it something else for other regions though.

I was thinking something like you do the trials on each island to enter the gyms, then end each island with the Grand Trial as it is now. It just provides more battle opportunities, the leaders are the Trial Captains, you need to beat the Totem for them to allow you to challenge their Gym.
Trials, I liked the Totem battles and the challenges you have to do for it.
I prefer trials if they switch up all the trials. I dont want to see any of the same minigames for them again. But whatever they do can they please do Gym leader/ Grnd Trial rematches! We havent had a good version those since HGSS. (PWT doesnt count, and XY version sucked)
Grown up Current Trial captains as (hard to beat) gym leaders, in the post game a new generation of Trial captains with new totems (including Psychic specialist Hau)

No but seriously I think a healthy middle ground could do the series some good. Maybe make the gyms a bit more important to the overall story rather than them just being road blocks. Have the leaders be more involved in the stories as well. The thing that made the Trial captains so cool is that they had cultural relevance in Alola. There was a reason for them being there and everyone that lived in Alola looked up to them or at least revered their status. If they make the gyms and their leaders more important like that then it would really help. also maybe make the gym challenges be more integrated into the story too. Have gyms where you beat all the lower trainers and then the evil team interrupts and you have to fight them before battling the leader. If they do these things I think that’d really help gyms a lot.
Also maybe add specific tasks that you have to do before battling. And I’m not just talking about plot points you need to do like go to point A and unblock whatever just to challenge the gym. that stuff is just dumb lol

I want to run through a level that doesn’t make me have to stop and observe my surroundings. If there is an obstacle, I should be able to avoid it without already knowing the layout of the level.

No it’s considered bad design. If you market your game as a game about going fast, then throw a huge pot of spikes I have to Time a jump on a platform to avoid, then you failed as a game designer.
I’m going super fast having fun then I fall in spikes and die and the game tells me I’m a fucking idiot and puts me at the start so I can die at the same place because each part of the level looks the exact same
That was part of it, timing it all and the relief if you finally managed it. It is somewhat poorly designed but they were limited in what they could do. Go play Aztec Challenge to know true infuriating level design.

Well we can’t exactly pin point if there is a set point for gender dysphoria to start and whether people are born with it or develop it (same with sexuality), the main issue is you can’t decide it

Brains actually develop by getting stimulated. You’re not even born with a sense of language, if you are born deaf for example, you don’t have an inner voice like other people do. We only know that we are genetically developed through evolution by being readily to adapt and learn from our surroundings, but something as complex as language takes years to learn.
People are born with feelings that they have the wrong sex, similar how gays are born with romantic interest in the same sex. It’s not a choice and not something you can willfully change.

So according to Serebii, Pokémon Switch is listed as releasing “2018 or later” from Nintendo’s earnings report. Clearly even they don’t know at this point.
January 1st, 2018.
I feel late 2018 to be the release date. We’ll likely see the game at E3 2018. I think Junichi Masuda or another director were working on the next game while S/M was in development. Inner studios of Nintendo would have obviously got a Switch dev kit early, so I expect GameFreak to have done some work already on the title.
It definitely makes me think of the Black and White situation. It was released Fall/Winter 2010 in Japan and March 2011 in America/the rest of the world. They may be aiming for Fall/Winter 2018 but have early 2019 available in case of delay. November 2019 seems way too far away.
Why would it be too far away? We’ve come to expect too much from yearly releases yet we keep on being disappointed that there isn’t enough content in the games.
You’re right, it would be right on time for a new generation. However, they’re doing something different this time by “announcing” the game so early. Normally they make a big event of keeping this knowledge secret until a big reveal out of nowhere. For this reason, I expect that it’s coming sooner than usual.
I think it was just damage control for people complaining they didn’t had a Pokémon Switch game planned up. It was crammed last minute in the Spotlight and announced way too early.

Also, I don’t think they would have included 2018 in their report at all if they weren’t leaving it as an option. But what do I know, I’m just a guy, I know nothing about their reasoning for this.

I dont understand how Coud is still in smash 4. I dont want him in a single smash game ever. Cloud literally is the epitome of disgustingly good. He’s just too good at everything. As someone you plays as Zelda How can I hit him? His sword range is long enough for him to be an adult film actor and He’s really safe with everything so Cloud wont begetting any diseases either. But hes too safe. He can hit Zelda from 10ft away, I can shield but be too slow to PUNISH. How can I play defensive if I cant punish the Spiky Haired Animoo. And Limit Break is literally the most broken thing ever. How is it fair that Cloud can increase ALL his stats ? Seriously who’s idea was it to give this to Coud. It literally is the best move in the game. Second best? Clouds Up! I have to srtruggle getting one frame timed aerial with Zelda. But Cloud Uair has the biggest Hithitbox that God can feel the Uair! They say to Counter Cloud is send him offstage, BUT WHAT DO I DO WHEN ON STAGE. elda is too slow. Lucina sword is too small, Lucas is barely fast enough. EVERYONE also plays as Cloud. Like who doesnt have a Pocket Cloud? Because my mother, grandmother and their parents Pocket Cloud. Its like a disgusting disease.Cloud’s the reason why I taken off a point from my final score of Smash 4!

Yeah I know, hearring a character bringing up interesting dialogue, great character development and an actually climatic final battle can be overwhelming to some people, especially in Pokemon. it is a 3D action adventure platformer starring the titular character Flash Motors a young 13 year old youth with a metal prosthetic claw on his left arm and his floating spherical robot Zap
they work in tandem where they both attack individually or together, and it is not limited to these two because you gain 3 more playable characters
Abbie “Lanch” Winters a timid/hotheaded young girl with ice powers and high speed and low defense
Bruce Grover a laid back feral boy with a mutant tail and plant powers and the rare triple jump
and lastly Steel Metway, a gruff stalwart son of a famous professor who gave him cybernetic arms and legs granting him metal powers
(originally they all had little robots but i’m considering scraping them since Zap and Bruce’s Vine were the one who got the most attention in development)
That sounds interesting tbh, especially since they all have different playstyles

Flash: Chargerang a electrical boomerang that can link enemies at a range
Abbie: Aura Jewel: a aurora projection that can be used like a whip
Bruce: Wooden Hammer: a log on a stick that can pound seeds in the ground and plant them
Steel: Multi-tool: a large wrench that can mess with machines and transform into a slingshot
Aura Jewel is best sounding one imo
and it gets better, after a third in the game you gain a new elemental attack!
Flash: Blaze Bolt: a searing fire blast that incinerates objects
Abbie: Aqua Aura: she gains watery whips
Bruce: Air Blast: he sends out a twister on a controlled path that rotates fans
Steel: Earth Link: he summons three orbiting boulders he can spin and smash with

Fire/Metal (Metal comes from fire – you smelt ores to get the metal)

Although metal really belongs with Earth as well and I can’t find a good secondary for Fire, which is why I traded from a subset secondary system to a fusion subset system

Basically, my book idea is an anthology series that has loose connections, and it is set in a modern world where magic does exist (I know, cliché), but is completely hidden from mortal eyes after the Salem Accords are made – to prevent normal humans from feeling vulnerable and lashing out, the gods of the world (in reality, most deities are just powerful nature spirits) veiled magic from the mortal eye.
The series stars six young magical individuals and their own struggles, the first of which is:
Nicola Riley – A 19 year old girl, born of a black witch and a strict Irish Catholic father. Her mother forgone magic when she fell in love, but allowed Nicola and her siblings to make the choice of whether they’d get involved with it. When Nicola’s father finds out she’s a lesbian, an intense argument leads to him drunk driving and getting into a fatal crash. Nicola must deal with the aftermath, and both the freedom and restriction it brings her.
I made the character a few years back. She’s always been varying degrees of mixed race black (African)/white of Irish decent (it’s been paternal grandfather, one of hermaternal great grandmothers, etc) but I realised it makes the most sense to tie together the mixed race and father conflict aspects together. I always imagined the character as black, because like most of my characters, unless the writing depends on race (like if I want to tie specific racism into it, or have a character from a specific culture) I don’t really care what race they are?
She used to be MtF trans rather than a lesbian, but 15~ year old me realised he probably couldn’t write a trans character. Well……it was this fantasy novel i wrote (or just thought of in my head) about myself…
It starts off with me the real me the one you all love and worship having a severe depression episode in the middle of the night, i was toiled about finally commuting suicide and decided to go out of the house and walk around the neighborhood in the dead of the night, as i go to this field behind my neighborhood the moon lit sky became awash with clouds and rumbling and lighting crashes down striking this extremely old tree i was nearby nearly frying me but opening up a hole which i slipped down
as and it was a deep hole so deep i got a series of scars and bruises and somehow landed in some totally different forest, confused and in tremendous pain i collapsed from exhaustion. the following morning i was trying to find heads or tails of where the frack i was the plants were weird and i saw creatures that were not of this world then i fell into a hole but it wasn’t a hole…it was a footprint… a big one

Personality: she’s very laid back and creative always thinking of new ways to shape the land or how to grow new topiary, but underneath this calm collective shell lies her truer self just a loner who only had herself as company since like forever
Appearance: She’s tall, lean, somewhat tanned, blonde, and with warm, brown eyes.
Magic Skills: Generally skilled, but as with all Belleroses she’s skilled with love magic (although modern Belleroses mostly use this to deconstruct illegal love magic). But she’s also a savant with fire magic, being trained by her grandmother, known as one of the greatest Fire Elementalist (people who specialise in a certain element) from youth.
Weapon Skills: She prefers to use a rapier, as she has been raised with grace and poise as all Belleroses are. She’s terrible with heavy weapons, alright with daggers and knives as well as lighter swords, but absolutely hopeless with projectile weapons, from the simple slingshot to the bow and arrow.

Rowlet’s probably the most marketable first stage Alola starter, probably more marketable than Deci will be. And we’ve had a Totodile in every region but Kanto (where there was two unevolved starters) and Hoenn (where every starter was owned by a different character and none of the first stages were as marketable).
Seeing as Rockruff is growing restless and we have a potential new form of Lycanroc, if anything is going to evolve soon, it’ll be Rockruff. And seeing as Ash has a smaller team rn (three team mates that can actually evolve), they’re not going to evolve this close to eachother.
And tbh the possible Continental Crush VS Bloom Doom clash just reeks of Blast Burn VS Water Shuriken pt2 – Dead Owl Boogaloo
But why does the Comic Relief have to go to Ash? We have the cute not-evolving togedemaru as comic relief, Rotom Dex and so far in most of the episodes there was no comic relief, most of the characters were doing funny things. If they wanted Rowlet to be the 1st stage comic relief, why didn’t they give it to Mallow? They wouldn’t waste a spot on Ash’s team
We can have multiple comic reliefs though? We had Emolga and Oshawott in Black and White.
This isn’t a serious series like XY, it’s a comedy slice of life series. Thus no team slot is ‘wasted’.
Also, Ash had both Totodile and Oshawott, so they’ve ‘wasted’ slots before
And Rowlet’s ready shown itself to be the comic relief with its shitty sleeping gag lol
And it could evolve and be a little bit of a comic relief (The hair) and at the same time want to fight with Ash. And then evolve once again and leave the comic relief behind.
Except the hair gag isn’t as cute or quirky as sleeping in the bag and thus isn’t going anywhere soon
And also none of Ash’s comedy reliefs have evolved past being comedic relief, one of his only comedic reliefs that evolved was Bayleef and even then the evolution didn’t impede her comedy, whereas Rowlet outgrowing the bag will screw up that skit.

XY wasn’t more serious than Sun Moon. XYZ was. So probably USUM series will be more serious too. Watch the litten arc again. Was that comedy? This series has a lot of potential and it probably won’t waste it.
And I think Sun Moon writers won’t make the same mistake and waste a slot on his team.
Why? It’s not a wasted slot for one, Ash’s non evolving Pokemon have shown themselves to be capable (Gible and Corphish especially come to mind, as well as Squirtle and Bulbasaur), and it adds to the comedy – the main focus of the series.
XY was still serious compared to SuMo tho. More battle-driven, less slapstick comedy, reoccurring plotlines. SuMo is a slice of life comedy anime, whereas XY was comedy second.
Even comedic shows can have drama and sad parts. Straight after Stoutland died it was straight back to comedy.
Also they’re not gonna suddenly flip to serious, USUM will most likely continue to have comedy with serious parts.

For exaple:
Nihilego took Lilly to Ultra Space. Nebby can create a wormhole that only two people can enter. Gladion hops in telling ash that he should come help him when he’ll be ready and they will battle a lot of Nihilego. Rotom tells him to catch a Ground type mon, Hapu gives him a Mudbray and a Groundinium Z. He gives Rowlet (that’s weak to nihilego) to Mallow. He has a training montage, they develop a bond and it evolves. Ash hops into the wormhole at the end of the episode.
That sounds incredibly dumb. He’s not gonna randomly give Rowlet to Mallow just because it doesn’t evolve. He’s faced Pokemon with type disadvantages before anyway

I’d change Honey Drink to 33% (1/3rd) health recovery, it’s just nicer to deal with smaller fractions (1/3rd rather than 7/20ths) and it’s easier to keep track of numbers because you just have to divide your Pokémon’s health by 3 to get a rough idea of how much health it recovers.
Honey Attack needs a better name imo (Honey Spill? Honey Strike? Honey Splatter? Honey Burst?) and I think 70 power + lowering two stats is a bit too strong, seeing as Lunge is only 10 power stronger and only lowers attack, and Trop Kick has the same power and only lowers attack. Maybe put it up to 80 power (so it’s on par with Lunge) and have it only lower Speed? Makes it a nicer counterpart to Honey Drink – one heals and raises your speed, another harms and lowers their speed.
The names need work and I think a gender divide would work better to determine evo, but overall good concept

Honestly everyone is too weak. I think that there would need to be at least 10 lv. 30+ players (some being Lv. 35+) to take on a Lugia. I tried it myself (lv. 31) and someone else (lv. 33) and we only brought it to 1/7th of it’s health before the timer ran out.

GF doesn’t understand a lot of things. Sometimes I wonder if they’re even good game designers or if they’re just sitting on a cash cow.
That being said, I do feel a lot of the abilities introduced in SM specifically were designed with competitive in mind.
I don’t think they are tbh. They were inexperienced game developers who stumbled onto an amazing idea no one could do better at the time.
If Pokémon was handed over to Nintendo I feel like the games would be so much better
They make really hit or miss decisions. Like, the games are great and all, but sometimes I get the feeling they don’t know what the heck they’re doing. EX: They claim to prioritize suprise and the unexpected, but keep making the same mistakes as far as hacking goes. Not to mention that they revealed like 85% of SM before release.
Side note, that might be why they’re waiting so long to release info this time. However, the polar opposite isn’t much better. Suprise =/= not telling the public what the games actually are.

I don’t know if you’re thinking about Super Mario Odyssey in October, but I think you should, as it looks beautiful. My library currently consists of Splatoon 2 and Zelda. I was also thinking about a third game, but decided to wait for Mario and buy the Zelda DLC instead to expand the time I can spend on Breath of the Wild. ARMS could be interesting to look into if you’re into stuff like that, but I didn’t really see anything else on the eShop that piqued my interest that much. Oh, and I also got Snipperclips to play with my mother who hasn’t touched a video game since 2005. She loves it.
