As anticipated, a new form for Lycanroc has been revealed on Japanese variety show Pokénchi!
This is the new Dusk Form that is said to be obtained in a special way and not available naturally in the wild. The reveal also confirmed that Ash’s Rockruff will evolve into the Dusk Form in this week’s episode of the Pokémon anime. Stay tuned for more info coming soon once CoroCoro leaks!

i expected very little information, just seeing one bit of info like the new dusk lycanroc evolution is more than fine by me, besides the the more i look at it’s design the more i like it. sure it may look like it’s just a mix of both midnight and midday forms but the colour’s really do make it look more clean, the green eyes make sense too, im actually alright with this design, it’s not too much, it’s not too less. it’s perfect. i just hope we find out this mysterious method in obtaining this new dusk evolution.

Well I personally dont like this form. Sure the color scheme is cool, but it kinda looks like a shiny Lycanroc. I barely see the Midnight part of it. Its just not very stunning at all. Im pretty disappointed. Honestly, you guys were right. The lack of info is really a way to not make me excited for this game at all. Theres just nothing that hypes me up.

This is neat and all, but it really shouldn’t have been our first piece of info. Maybe it’s just a little tidbit to hold us off until the first real wave, but the first trailer should go something like this;
– Show us a little bit of how the Alola region changed
– If there are indeed new Pokemon, show us one (Lycan is still just a form)
– Show off how and if the characters have changed
That’s pretty much all we really need to know. After that they can drop new forms/Pokemon, but we still need to know what the game really is.
Just to clarify, I’m not complaining about the info. I’m glad we got something, but you can always count on GF to do something unconventional.

This is a Midday Lycanroc turning into a Midnight Lycanroc. It is influenced by Midnight in terms of fur colour (brown to orange, closer to midnight’s red) and mane shape. What we’ve seen of its animations also seem more animalistic.
I think there will be a dawn form. GameFreak wouldn’t pass up a version exclusive to sel more copies

So as a round up of everyone’s opinion about this, how do you feel about Dusk Lycanroc?
Personally, I love the Orange and Green on it and appreciate that it looks like it’s transitioning from Midday to Midnight, though I wish it had more unique features on it other than simply than having Edge Lycan’s hair on it.
After earlier I think everyone got an idea of my opinion lol
But trust me I get it. Dusk is in between so therefore the evolution is in between the other forms.

Well since it looks quite similar to the prior forms (which is to be expected since it is Dusk) its design didn’t leave a huge impact on me, but I was expecting that. For me what will make or break this new form is its ability, signature move, and stat spread. There will be plenty of new Pokémon forms in USUM. I know that I am using Decidueye (because that is the last starter I haven’t used yet) and I prefer to not have a team with more than two Pokémon with the same weakness in-game. Even though I will defend pokemon designs against all negativity, I do admit that the new form is too similar to the midday form. I kinda expected it to be half midday and half midnight, plus it could probably run on fours while battle on two. Guess you can’t win everything in expectations. All and all, I will take my new pokemon form with open arms. Maybe consider it on my upcoming team.
I do wonder how it will be different from its other counterparts: stat spread, ability and movepool. Guess I’ll just wait and see.

TBH I kinda expected this, but I wish it was executed better. This form, like many have said, looks way too much like midday. The dawn form better look way too much like the midnight form.

??? What do you mean? The 3DS doesn’t need to use color pallets… it’s why X and Y and Sun and Moon shinies generally looks more unique than in previous gens. It’s because they can custom pick the color
The prblm with 3ds quality it’s kinda make the color more light ….u can compare Dusk Lycanroc color in the anime and the game.
There’s still technical limitations to the color depth, amount of colors at the same time and the shaders that can be used due to processing power, video memory… Not to forget that the screen of the 3DS isn’t of greatest quality so it doesn’t really pay off to invest a lot in programming it. That’s why 3DS colors always look a bit washed out compared to some other systems.

Dusk form? So there’ll be a Dawn form.. and the Dusk and Dawn stones were introduced in DPPt. Sinnoh confurrmed.
Of course there will be a dawn form, something has to take the form of Lunala’s wings.
When Dusk form howls, its head looks exactly like the Ultra Sun logo. Which means it’ll have a counterpart=Dawn form confirmed aaaaahhhhhhh
Things I was thinking about:
– If the dusk form takes only place at sunset then ultramoon players have to wake up at 5:00 am to evolve their rockruff (assuming usum will be set 12:00 hours apart like sm).
– The dusk form is called Twilight form in German. This could exclude a dawn form cause twilight is good both for dusk and dawn.
– There’s a possibility for another dusk/twilight form for ultramoon which remembers the ultramoon logo, takes place at dawn and rasembles midnight lycanrock but with the ultramoon logo colours.
German doesn’t have a good word for both dawn and dusk, since they are Morgendämmerung and Abenddämmerung (really long words), with Dämmerung being a close and correct translation of twilight but with a different nuance placed on it. Good chance that it will get replaced by something more fitting for both forms or another fitting name for dawn form.

So apparently, in the movie “Ready Player One”, they took out Ultraman (who was in the book) and replaced him with the Iron Giant. Now, I don’t watch Ultraman, but this still sucks. I’m still willing to see the movie, but it’ll annoy me that they took out a character from such a niche franchise, and replace him with the Iron Giant, who doesn’t in this movie.Also, apparently the main character (I forgot his name) was overweight in the book, but isn’t in the movie, that doesn’t bother me as much, but they took out an important subplot by doing that. At least, that’s what I heard.
I don’t know if you read the book but a reward for clearing the jade gate was a supersized robot, with Wade being able to choose out of over 20 options, including the Iron Giant. He was thus canon in the books too. And Wade isn’t really overweight in the books, he changes weight a lot, being slightly normal at first, then gaining a lot of weight but when he is hiding from IOI he enables the fitness program and is of normal weight again. So both arguments are kinda bullshit complaints. 😛
Don’t forget that Warner Bros has to license each pop cult reference they don’t own, so it can be sometimes hard to get the right license. WB owns the Iron Giant franchise so it seems more fitting.

So now that it’s confirmed that the new Pokémon mentioned in the reveal trailer does encompass new forms and not just more Pokémon that were not in the Alola Pokedex in SM, I am brought back to this picture. To my knowledge this still hasn’t been debunked as being credible leak. I believe it came out some time in February or March, designs of the starters themselves came were leaked a good portion of time before SM’s release as well. Thus, I feel very strongly that it is a new Alola Form of a Pokémon that we are familiar with. If I am wrong, then it is either a fake leak or it’s a leak of a Gen 8 Pokémon. Now what I want to focus this discussion on is, if it is an Alola Form, what is the original Pokémon?

No problem! I was just looking at the “leak” and I knew I had seen that somewhere before
After sleeping on it, not only was the news not reassuring to those concerned about the games, but it’s actually one of the worst things they could’ve revealed. At a time when people are expressing concern over the game being a cash grab or a pointless rehash, an orange Lycanroc with some extra features wasn’t the way to go.
Might as well add this: I’m not complaining about Lycanroc itself, and I’m glad we’re getting news, but they just keep messing up in the marketing department with this one.
I thnk they revealed it now, because it was happening in the anime now. Maybe originally this episode was going to air in few months, after they showed what the game’s about
Then they should’ve anticipated that and revealed the basics of the game before orange doggo. Instead, they helped solidify negative first impressions many got from the reveal. A recolor with some extra fluff just gives people more of a reason to think this will be a cash grab.
Maybe it’s a bad organized campaign, like something went wrong and they couldn’t show the game basics trailer

I have seen a lot of negativity about Dusk Lycanroc. Thus I hope what I have to say will mitigate some of everyone’s concerns. Dusk Lycanroc, in my opinion, is the embodiment of Ash Ketchum. When we first see Dusk Lycanroc we have a pretty positive opinion. However, as we look longer, we realize wow this kind of sucks a little. Then we start thinking of how Ash could have been like Red…I mean how Dusk Lycanroc may be waged potential. There is also the aspect of what appears to be bad marketing. Well Pokémon has pulled through before and it Ash will lose in the league again…wait…I meant that Pokémon will pull through again. Let’s face the facts and just wait until the end of the season for Zygarde to steal Dusk Lycanroc to have him guard a fencepost or something.
While these are interesting parallels, it doesn’t change the fact that the cement is drying, and the only imprint in it is an orange dog.

I honestly really love this concept of something halfway between the two Lycanroc extremes. I always thought that the two barely looked related, so this ties things together for me. The orange color is just really nice as well. I just hope that the games have more than just new forms: brand-new Pokémon are highly unlikely, but maybe new UBs could sneak in there?

I just realized that even though we might not necessarily like Dusk Lycanroc this first news drop gave us more info than the first news drop for SM which was also the only news we got 2 months later-and it was just the covers of the games but the legends were whited out in the Coro Coro magazine. In all honesty, I think Gamefreak is just doing the same thing as always in their news release schedule by giving customers a reveal that doesn’t meet the customer’s standards.

I actually find breeding very relaxing. But I have nothing against people who hack.
well I do it for the egg moves and ivs, then breed the hack to get a legal and hack clean pokemon. I dont think that’s so terrible. I have a life and a job I cannot spend hours and hours just to get egg move chains with perfect ivs.
I hope nintendo makes it easier in the future so we dont need to do this. they already tried a little with the bottle caps.. not enough. best wishes for gen8.
Imo. egg moves should not exist, they should be tutors where you have to bring the pokemon who knows the move you want to teach to the other Pokémon. that’s it
IVs should be trainable, but harder than evs. much easier than the caps.
EVs should be configurable, like choosing to which stat they go. like in other rpgs.
