CoroCoro Cover Teases New Lycanroc Form? (UPD)

The first images of CoroCoro have begun to surface!

As per usual, the cover is first to appear. And upon closer inspection there’s something that looks incredibly Lycanroc-like – albeit with a different color palette and, most notably, green eyes.

This is not confirmed to be related to Pokémon in anyway as of yet, however the similarities are simply uncanny.

Time to weigh in your thoughts! Pokémon, or nah? Are we looking at a dusk/dawn Lycanroc form? Maybe Ash-Lycanroc? And are those Necrozma-like extensions coming out of it?

UPDATE: Shigeru Omori will be appearing on tomorrow’s episode of Pokénchi with the latest news about Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon! It will air at 8AM Japan Standard Time, so check your local Google search bar to make sure you’re up and ON OUR SITE for the latest info regarding what is revealed. Due to the nature of the games’ international release, an English trailer could even be simultaneously be released – but we’ll have to wait and see!

  1. Gen 8 should just be 100% new evolutions for old pokemon with no new pokemon. Just go on a mass evolving spree and make every shitty pokemon they’ve ever made actually worth caring about, which includes megas for fully evolved pokemon and stat reassignments. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

      • Lol plasma was wayy better than aether and skull, tbh skull was bad and the aether being evil ‘twist’ was badly executed.

          • I don’t even know what skull wanted, like why were they with aether? What did the team hope to achieve? Why was gladion there? They never felt like a threat, and you just go and take over there hideout without any buildup and lusamine shows up and is just like ‘btw im crazy’

          • I guess the whole thing was that guzma was following Lusamine because she was the only one who recognized his power and made him not feel like shit. Honestly though, I feel like their organizations definitely should have been collaborating more, it felt thrown together at the last minute. And I would’ve liked to see internal drama from both skull and aether members about them having to work together

          • Skull and aether members didn’t even know they were working together.. i think? Since there was a small dispute shown in the game

        • No???

Skull was great because it was actually a group of people and not robots with motives that make no sense. They are a bunch of disillusioned kids who are alone and want a family. That’s why Plumeria is referred to as like a sister. Meanwhile you have magma over here. Why the hell are these people following Maxie? Did try not think for 2 seconds that you can’t just get more land,

Even if the AETHER twist was obvious, it’s still great. They have a great story with Lusamine and Lillie and Gladion. Type Null leads into the darker parts of their plans. But despite the corruption, AF is genuinely trying to help Pokémon. It’s so good

          • Yes, but like what was the team trying to do? Why was guzma with Aether. And you’re talking about how they weren’t robots but i didn’t feel any personality from any of team skull.

Aether was badly done, lusamine is a great villian but aether is crap. You go there once, the game shows you there good. Then without any buildup it jusy says lillie was taken there. I’m going to ignore how Stupid it is that the Mohn thing wasn’t mentioned in the main plot, even then the story and the teams aren’t well thought out. The only thing well thought about whole of sm is lillie.

          • Clearly you didn’t pay attention at all because they explain it multiple times. Guzma was with Lusamine because she was the only adult who treated him like he was a strong trainer. Guzma grew up in an abusive household so someone to validate him is very important. This also makes Lusamine even more evil because she is taking advantage of him.

Skull steals Pokémon, then supplies them to AF so they can keep up this image that they are saving pokemon from team skull.

And I don’t know how you can call Aether badly done. They are set up through out the entire region. You see houses and trailers around the region. They give you so much explanation and small hints about their true intentions.

Gladion also is there to make you question AF. IN THE BEGINNNG OF THE GAME LILLIE IS RUNNING AWAY FROM THE AETHER FOUNDATION

          • A lot of this information isn’t conveyed clearly tho. You shouldn’t be spoon-fed but you shouldn’t have to dig so deep

          • Mostly the Aether stuff tbh, I just don’t find it well explained. Good for you if you figured it out but clearly some others didn’t which isn’t good as they’re the driving force of the game

          • No it’s not. At all. It’s all in the game.

  2. I am just dying to know about U-Solgaleo and U-Lunala. I know it’s a hybrid of Necrozma and one of the mascots, but I want to find out their abilities, potential z-moves they might have, and some lore behind them.

  3. I swear if it’s an ash-lycanrock form some one at Pokemon will die… Jk but srsly a new lycanrock form would make a lot of sense

  4. I really just want a confirmation that there will be more new Alolan forms in these games, especially from Gen 2. It would be awesome if we got some Gen 3 as well, but I doubt it.

  5. Well it has been about a week since I posted Alola Meganium so it’s about time for the next one of the trio:

The next of the hypothetical Alola-form Johto starters (and how I think Gamefreak should do them) that I will be talking about is my favorite of the three Johto Starters and also a possible reason why they might not do Alola-form Johto starters. The reason being that making one for Typhlosion without making it an entirely different Pokemon (think Marowak vs Alola Marowak with the complete type change) is kind of hard and unlikely since it is a starter so it’s primary typing is trademark to it. I describe more about it down below. Please let me know what you think and next time will be the final one of the trio.

    Alola Typhlosion
    Fire/Normal
    Ability: Blaze -> Technician

It’s kind of hard to come up with an Alolan form that would vastly improve upon Typhlosion. It was one of my favorite Pokémon back when I got Pokémon Gold and absolutely rocked in-game. However, this is before Gen 4’s physical/special split. Many of Typhlosion’s moves are physical while its strongest stab moves are special. They could just keep it specialized but then issue is the not so diverse Special movepool that it has. Thus, it would be probably be in Alola Typhlosion’s best interests if they change its movepool post-evolution to have strong special Normal-Type attacks-which is unlikely considering only Hyper Voice and Boomburst are stronger than Swift. This is the reason why I would say that Alola Typhlosion would benefit from having Technician so it could boost the power of Swift. My reasoning behind Fire/Normal is that if I am following the Chinese Zodiac correctly, Typhlosion is based on the rat a Pokémon that is traditionally Normal type . (An exception of course being Pikachu). Also Typhlosion already learns a large number of Normal type moves. An argument could be made for Fire/Rock, Fire/Steel due to it learning both rollout and gyro ball. To do this the variant will need to be physical and that would mean ignoring the rare new move that it was given this Generation called Burn Up. Typhlosion also doesn’t have the bulk or speed to sacrifice for it to be a worthwhile mixed attacker, unless Gamefreak were to go down the Fire/Steel route which has been displayed to be a fantastic defensive typing for a Fire type by the likes of Heatran. There isn’t really much to base off of in terms of TMs if we are staying with the special variant because the few that Typhlosion has might be strong, but are also unreliable and seem only to be included for the extra coverage.

  6. Ngl I just want info on what the mascots are, hoping they’re not totally boring and that they either change types or get new abilities (looking at you Kyurem)

  7. The soundtrack for Sun and Moon is probably the best in the series tbh… so many themes are heard throughout the region. The Alola Region theme is all over the place, The Aether Foundation theme is in Guzmas theme and.. it’s just so gooood

  8. The most important element of these games for me will be the variety of Pokémon. They have said that there will be Pokémon not found in Sun and Moon, which is a great start. I will likely want to shiny hunt in one or both of these versions, so having a wide range of options would be awesome.
