Lycanroc Hinted to be Getting New Form(s)

The anime recently ended its weekly airing in Japan and teased the potential evolution of Ash’s Rockruff. There are several things that point towards a new form, or forms, for its evolution Lycanroc. Here’s what we’ve found:

CLUE 1: Evolution takes place at dusk

Based on the latest anime preview, it seems that Rockruff is beginning to evolve at neither day or night, but at dusk. This is played up as the sun straddles the horizon and Rockruff looks into the light as a strange green energy seems to illuminate its eyes. CLUE 2: Mystery products still unrevealed

We’ve posted about mysterious product listings before and there is also a new anime-related plush set to be announced on August 10… the same day next week’s episode will air.

CLUE 3: Pokémon Global Link placeholder image

Another mysterious piece of the puzzle comes from an image off the Pokémon Global Link website which lists Lycanroc as having not 2, but 4 forms. Could there be dawn and dusk forms coming as well? It seems to make sense based off of what the anime is showing us.

  2. Somebody tell me if this theory has already been thrown around, but what if it’s the Eclipse form, and they announce it on the 21st in time for the big eclipse?

    • Eh, it’s alright, but I’m partial to the Hoenn bike theme.

      The pokeride theme is just awful, I hate breeding because of it (I know I can turn it off but it’s nice to have something to listen to).

    • I hope you enjoy every minute of it. Breath of the Wild helped me realize that there is so much untapped potential in video gaming, at a time when I felt that things were hitting a wall. It’s just that good (in my opinion, and many others).

      • im actually really curious on your opinion xatu. would you be able to clarify for me your liking of botw. for me personally, i love botw. however i havent beaten it (i got it day one) it just got too tedious and i never went to battle the final boss (except once cuz i was curious but lost).

      >Don’t have Z-Crystals just handed to you *examples: Farium, Flynium, ect.* instead they should have roaming Totems like in the anime with Raticate its under no trainer it just gaurds the crystal

  18. Let’s make a mini contest: Let’s make fan art of what the Dusk Lycanroc looks like and we’ll check who was the closest on 10th when they’ll reveal it. The winner will be cool. (I didn’t have an idea for anytging that could be a prize)

      • Cuz that’s when it appears Ash’s rockruff is evolving. The anime made a point to show the sun setting during it. It could have been to point out that the sun is still there (aka still day time) but it also could mean it’s a new dusk form to be added along with a potential dawn form.

  19. Has anyone preordered USUM? Turns out my city has a way bigger Pokemon scene than I thought so I’ve preordered Ultra Moon, but the folks at my game store are nice enough to let you switch your version if you give them enough notice

F*ck Ash’s Rocruff… I’m excited for the new form, but really, battle with Olivia should be Rowlet’s time to shine… He should evolve during the battle… A super effective Z-move, he’s been in the team the longest (pika doesn’t count) and lately he became less and less of just a comic relief… Rowlet has so much potential for being a great Dartrix and Decidueye, I just cant stand Anime wasting it just because

    • Calm down kid, shit happens

      Ash has had some amazing non-evolving Pokemon, and why should Rowlet evolve against Pokémon that mean nothing to it? Whereas for Rockruff, fighting its evolution works into its own arc rather than being a random shitty evolution made to appease to fans who have no idea what a good story is
