One of the more interesting tidbits to come from Nintendo’s E3 showing was this tidbit:
Mr. Ishihara of The Pokémon Company is pleased to announce a core RPG Pokémon title will be coming to #NintendoSwitch!

While many have speculated that the main Pokémon series would be making the jump from the Nintendo 3DS to the Switch, it has now been confirmed that we will be seeing games on the latter. It was later added that it could be “well over a year” until we see a title on Nintendo’s latest console however, hinting that it could be Gen VIII.

matpat met the pope while representing the YouTube gaming community and it’s customary to give the pope a gift that’s reflective of the culture you represent and he chose undertale, a game about choices, consequences and reflect and peace/love, so it was a symbolical, but like i said!!! people can have opinions 🙂

Why didn’t he give the Pope Shin Megami Tensei 4 or Nocture? Those games represents the ideologies of Law, Chaos, and Neutral worlds with incoperation of Angels and Demons. Also, it provides the Pope with an amazing RPG to pass the time when going to various churches and locations.
Matpat wasn’t supposed to show the Pope something he knows everything about through games. He was supposed to show gamers.
Still, I think giving him Undertale was dumb. To represent gamers, giving him a 3DS or PS4 would easily make more sense. Gifting the Pope is something substantial. Personally, I feel that a title like Undertale is undeserving of such a feat. Doesn’t mean the game is terrible, it’s just that there is plenty of superior titles or gifts that Matt could have provided. Shin Megami Tensei makes the most sense in my eyes as it builds upon the beliefs of other religions aside from Christianity.
You still don’t understand. He wasn’t supposed to show games or other religions. He was supposed to show the Gamer Community. Maybe you don’t like the game, but it does a good job representing gamers. It was made by a gamer, by a fan. It’s a fan favourite, with so many parodies, theories, Fanarts and so on. It also represents values that most people don’t assiosiate with gamers. It was symbolical. And even if he’d give the pope a PS4 I doubt Pope would play it once.
