It seems many Nintendo fans are enjoying the company’s new fun and frantic fighting game ARMS for the Switch which has been released to most of the world. 

If you’ve got it, or want it, who will you be maining (or choosing as your main character). With a range of silly characters, from a globby DNA-based character to undead mummy, there’s probably one that has caught your attention. 

Personally I’m a Kid Cobra stan and luckily my roommate purchased the game so I’ll practice and then hopefully see a few of you online 😉

  2. Honestly I 100% doubted this game when it was first announced. I thought it was gonna just be an overpriced game without any substance but BOY was I wrong.

    Props to Nintendo for this game. It looks beautiful, gameplay is masterful and addicting, and extremely competitive. When I get my switch later this year, I’m definitely picking this game up so I can play with my friends and play against other people!!!

  14. It took me about 10 tries to finally beat Hedlok on level 4 (with way too many close calls), but including the Party Mode time I had, I can say with certainty that the world is better with ARMS in it. It’s just unbelievable.

  29. A Physical Hidden Power would be amazin! However Physical Pokemon already are pretty good, so maybe not… What type of moves woul dyou guys like to see?

    • I think it would be good, stops the need to invest in special attack or having a low power move for physical attackers just for coverage. I’d like to see quick attacks for more types, like Fire. Maybe a terrain blocker/remover that also gets rid of weather?

    • Every type and attack category (besides status) should have an accessible, reliable move like Dazzling Gleam, Shadow/Energy Ball, and Bolt/Beam/Thrower

            It’s the least gimmicky stage in the game and super charge punches are literally nothing if you can move at all

            Also do you happen to have the Megawatt? I highly reccomend it, it’s a better megaton

            I’m just so sick of freaking losing, it took me freaking 28 matches just to beat Spring Man with B&B nothing truly worked so I had to be a hippocrit and just bait it and grab and wait out the clock

      Once upon a time, there was this… Rhino, named… Rocks! Rocks was a tough rhino because every day he dedicated himself to being tough. he was abrasive, brawny, and brick solid.
      But then there was this monster that came along named… Army. Army was a soldier, and very, very tough… Rocks challenged Army to a fight, and lost his hide badly that day, he became very angry and sad. Army laughed at Rocks like a jerk, he teased him every day and made him feel bad to the point Rocks felt he needed to leave.
      But a young cow calf came along, Her name was Cowlia, and she was new around these parts. She was very delicate… In passing, Rocks saw her struggling with her stuff, and shrugged and kept going, she pleaded for some help. No one else answered, so the rhino got mad and finally offered to help her out of a weird kind of spite. When they got to her new place, he set down the bags, and she asked him to stay for dinner, he declined and left, thinking he would regret that later due to his hunger. Rocks was just about to leave when he heard a scream coming from the town, he hustled back in to see Cowlia was gonna be eaten by Army, in that moment, he rushed in trying to help her, not even thinking about his hate, but then everything went black… When he awoke, Cowlia was tending to him, but how was that possible… he lost. “I gotta say mister, i cannot thank you enough” Rocks Replied “no, i wasn’t tough enough to help you, period!” But Cowlia smiled and said “I saw you beat him to a pulp, don’t you remember?” It was true, Army was all beaten up! “But… how?” Cowlia Pondered this and replied. “I guess you got so mad, you completely clobbered him, almost like you snapped, and yet, somehow you did…” So as it turned out, he did snap, but his last known memory from the black out, something he still remembers, was that cow girl, he actually cared about her so much in his rage, he fought to save her, instead of trying to beat up his rival. In that moment, he realized he was tough because of his dedication, his feelings, his lack of inhibitions. The only thing he could do in that moment is smile, and say two words harder than life itself for him… “Thank… You…” after that, the two continued fighting about silly things, But Cowlia Never forgot what Rocks did for her, and Rocks never forgot, he didn’t need to be tough to win, he just needed a sense of purpose, and a reason.

  34. I gotta say, Arms has a pretty sharp learning curve, they put you in the grand prix, it seems so easy, then you try to fight in versus for further practice… But that’s ok, the game looks great and is still cool to play, my siblings might like it, but i gotta teach em how to play, deers~

    Frost Cavern is NO joke when it comes to nuzlockes. Those trainers killed a total of 5 pokemon! One in cluding my MVP and another being my ongest member to that point. Ugh Not a pleasant time

  42. Well going off what I did last time. Im doing Ghost today.
    What are your general thoughts about the Ghost type?
    What is your favorite and least favorite Ghost type Leader/Pokemon?

    General Thoughts- Ghost Types are pretty cool. I used to think they were overrated because it seemed like everyone’s favorite type is ghost type. But now I dont understand they are just cool. Maybe they are overrated, but I can see why. Their designs are very cool, and who doesnt love the way Shadow Ball looks?

    Fave Ghost Leader- Acerola. I just love her cute face, and attitude. The way she doesnt look like someone who would handle Pokemon of the dead.

    Least Fave Leader- Shauntal. Meh He just isnt as interesting as the others. Also I still think Shauntal is a boyt. and since I dont see different I dont like him

    Fave Ghost Pokemon- Gengar. His chubby body. His spiky back. His cute Smile. I just love this thing. I honestly didnt realize how much I love Gengar until recently. I can understand the massive hype for this. And its pretty good in battle

    Least Fave Ghost- Spiritomb. It just isnt cool to me. I couldnt get it in DIamond because it was nearly impossible, it annoyed me so much. Plus it stole Sableye’s Niche.

      Favorite leader: none
      Favorite Ghost: Golurk say what you will about it it’s still a giant stone/clay robot Pokemon I’d like it if it were steel or rock
      Least favorite: Mimikyu and Gengar they sicken me

    • Thoughts- I actually love this typing and is my favourite one, they have very cool designs, cool attacks and Pokedex entries as well.

      Fav Ghost leader- Fantina. I love how instead of being creepy or mysterious, is fabulous, such an unique take on Ghost gym leaders.

      Least fav- Morty. He’s kinda boring imo

      Fave Ghost- Chandelure. It’s also my fav Pkm, it’s so cute, a great Spe attack, lovely dex entries and an amazing shiny. I really like it’s appearance in Pokken as well.

      Least fav- Misdreavus. Doesn’t have a very interesting design and it feels bland to me, but I like its evolution Mismagius.

  53. I’m really excited about this Lusamine piece. I think I may totally redo the hair. It looks really unnatural and it probably shouldn’t be blowing to the right. But I do like the composition of it when the hair is like that. Maybe I just need a better reference. Lusamine’s hair is really weird anyways

      • Interesting, but I feel like they shoulda put her in there somewhere since she usually appears if the game takes place in a traditional Hyrule and it makes sense. Like in Skyward Sword and Wind Waker it wouldn’t have worked. All well I guess.

    • She’s not because then they couldn’t implement the catching mechanic and let you try riding other animals, simple as that. Don’t think there is a story reason for it.

  66. Well Arms is just so enjoyable. I’m not crazy good at this point, but I’ll get better with practice. I think I’ll main Byte and Barq. The two of them have a good dynamic going lol. My main weapons are the Popper(or whatever theirs is called) and a regular glove. I’m developing a 1-2 punch style where I stun with the popper and full on attack with the glove. I’m kind of hoping I can get a glove with an element or something. That way I can give my opponents some real trouble hahaha

  97. Had a very good night tonight, I was really in the zone. I went from rank 3 to rank 6 in ranked. I played the same guy about 7 times in a row because we kept rematching and we basically became rivals (although I won more), and then he sent me a friend request! That was cool.   99. Random prediction: 2019 will be Nintendo’s Year of Space. In October/November they’ll release Galaxy 3, and in November/December they’ll release Metroid. Perhaps they could also release DP remakes in 2019 on the Switch (long shot), with the whole time and space thing. Anyway, they’ll release those purple galaxy-colored joy-con and even a separate galaxy dock. I have nothing to back up these predictions, kthxbye

  103. Damn anyone else wish that GameFreak would handle the Mossy and Ice Rocks better? Y’know the things that evolve Leafeon and Glaceon?

    Like, Mossy Rock is mostly fine because it tends to show up either earlier than you need it or just a bit after you get Eevee (Eterna Forest, Petalburg Woods, Lush Jungle) but then in some games it’s dreadfully late (it’s post game in Unova despite Eevee being in the Dex, and right before the final, Ice-Type Gym in Kalos) as well as only being there for one (one!) Pokémon.

    Ice Rock has it much shitter tbh, it’s always late in the games. Earliest you get to it is right before the Seventh Gym leader in Sinnoh, Kalos and Hoenn, and even then you can’t even access it in Hoenn half the time, but that’s only an issue if you trade Eevee in. It’s also only there for just one Pokémon, but it’ll probably evolve Crabrawler in games where there isn’t a snowy mountain area (so pretty much all existing regions outside of Sinnoh and Alola).

    But yeah compare this to magnetic field, which

    A) Isn’t linked to a certain object in the overworld, but a whole area.
    B) Tends to show up decently early or mid-game (the whole of Mt. Coronet in Sinnoh, past fifth badge in Unova, past surf in Hoenn) with the exception of it being on the last island in Alola.
    C) Evolves not one, but three different Pokémon (Magenton, Nosepass, Charjabug)

    Like it’s not that annoying but it’s kinda annoying

  120. Tbh the more I think about it, the more I wouldn’t mind Kanto remakes. If:

    1) We get every evolution of a Kanto Pokémon in the Dex

    2) We maybe get a few (like 5-10) Pokémon added into the Dex for more variety, such as Larvitar, Houndour and Misdreavus seeing as they’re all found in Kanto in GSC HGSS

    3) Mega Evolutions and/or Z-Moves play a part in the story

    4) Mew has an in game event

  122. To be honest, Gamefreak should just focus on putting their lineup gradually on Switch Virtual Console and just make the games they want to make. They can obiously wait with DPPt for the obvious remakes that are coming one day, but FRLG/HGSS would be ace on Switch.

  133. Ok so I kinda hope Gen 8 is a big Gen on the Nintendo Switch where we get 4 pairs of games. Like we get Gen 8 with a new region, new Pokemon, and features (open world like Skyrim or The Witcher 3 wishful thinking) for Switch (HD Rumble for moves like Earthquake OMG!), then a year later everyones fav Gen 4 remakes, year after that we get the follow up wit add-ons for Gen 8 games, then as a love letter (and because I was reading an article about an interview with Miyamoto in 97′ about Pocket Monsters 64 DD) a remake of the Gen 1 games on the Nintendo Switch. But then again, I maybe asking a bit much XD.

  154. So its kinda confirmed that SONY, Nintendo, and other devs held back this year E3, so what things you want to see, I know I would love these:
    1. Metroid Prime HD Trilogy: As we are getting 4, so like Square with Kingdom Hearts 3, why not put an HD remaster of the original 3 on the current hardware.
    2. Jak 4: Just wishful thinking, but with Naughty Dog re-releasing Jak 1-3 and X on PS4 when Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is out, it kinda gives me hope if we will see a new entry. And the Crash Bandicoot and Shadow of Colossus remake give me hope they are now listening to fans.
    3. Tease of Gen 8: Kinda like how they did with Gen 7 when it was announced, and tease of the behind the scenes would be nice.

  156. So far in my HG game, I’ve done:
    – Beaten Johto/ Main Story
    – Beaten 7 Kanto gym leaders (gonna face Blue soon)
    – Caught Lugia and Suicune (managed to get a Bold nature for Suicune)
    – Basically wrecked all the trainers in Kanto on all the routes
    – Got Bugsy and Chuck’s numbers
    – Attempted Battle Factory
    – Caught Ho-oh

    What I think is the rest of what I still need to do:
    – Beat the BF (it’s a possibility I’ll do this)
    – Catch all legends (Now it’s Entei, Raikou, the birds, Mewtwo, and Kyogre)
    – Beat Blue
    – Rechallenge E4
    – Fight Lance & Clair at the Dragon’s Den
    – Get the rest of the gym leader numbers
    – Gym leader Rematches
    – Fight Red

    • As a math major, even when I get something wrong I’m more inclined to try and figure out what happened rather than dip.
      (Also just b/c you brought it up, the definition of a perpendicular bisector is right there in the name)

        University math: how the heck do I calculate by hand the spannable eigenspace of a 4×4 matrix with complex eigenvalues that contain irrational components…

            Five years later, you’re saying, pfff, why did I ever have trouble with calculus and linear algebra, I’m a master of vector fields and control algorithms now!

          • Eigenvalues were something like (9±sqrt(105))/2 but I do think a double zero though. Eigenvalue calculation wasn’t the problem (since trace and determinant are easy to verify everything), the fact that we could only use a calculator that couldn’t do complex numbers and had to do gaussian elimination by hand made it impossible to do that exercise in the one hour frame we had for that part of the exam. Since we needed the eigenvectors for the SVD, pseudoinverse and also needed to do a QR orthogonalization in that hour too, exam was the biggest fail in my whole student career.

            Solution the professor placed online after results was using lambda as a variable in the guassian elimination and then substituting, but it still gave you troubled equations and a root in root as one of the vectorcomponents.

          • That sounds absolutely disgusting. I haven’t actually taken Linear Algebra yet (next semester!) but I’ve been self teaching. And my girlfriend just did it and was showing me Gram-Schmidt orthoganalization and it didn’t look too fun.

          • You don’t get lin algebra the first semester? Weird since it’s one of the most basic math courses. GS orthogonalization isn’t hard though, it’s just cumbersome since you need to calculate vector after vector.

          • Nope. The pre-requisite is a class called Sets and Logic where I go. I took that last semester. I also decided to finish the calculus sequence (for me, just Calc III) and DEQ.

    • My bank is full of every breedable pokemon in every kind of apricorn, safari and sport ball (Dreams are mostly in X), so I don’t have room for one. It would be useful for ‘dex completion but I kind of like building that into my adventure.

        • It must’ve helped that bank wasn’t immediately available. I used Bank a bit to get my shiny charm before finishing the game so I could have most of my team shiny like I wanted faster.

          • I do the Magikarp switch method and I think it helped a bit there. I have gotten 2 shiny wild Tauros and a Mudbray since I got it, all terrible of course.

    • I think once Super is dubbed it might go up in demand. I would love to play it as long as the quality doesn’t go down much on Switch. Otherwise I’ll just wait until I win the lottery so I can buy a PS4.

      • According to this interview, power really isn’t the issue. Sucks, though I LOVE Xenoverse 2 being on it, seeing a new Dragon Ball fighter game being dropped for the Nintendo Switch seems like a slap to Nintendo’s face, especially with the effort they gave to the publisher, Namco Bandai (just like what Capcom did with Monster Hunter Worlds….still getting though).

        • Maybe it will come out, just on a delayed release. I see no reason for them not to unless they think they won’t make the money back from producing it. I guess it needs a petition or something. Also it will help when there are enough Switches for the current demand.

          • True, I got lucky with a starter bundle on Target’s website, the bundle sold out in a few hours after I ordered. And I do expect sales to go high when Gen 8 is released on it, like how the 3DS sales sky rocketed when Pokemon X and Y, and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS came on it.
