RUMOR: Nintendo Developing Handheld-Only Switch Mini?

The Nintendo Switch is a hot commodity and has exceeded sales expectations across the board. Bloomberg has published speculation by analysts that a new variation of the home console could remove the docking feature and solely be a handheld gaming device.

Citigroup Inc. […] expect the Kyoto-based company to release a smaller version of the Switch in the fiscal year through March 2019, according to analysts including Minami Munakata, Kota Ezawa and Alicia Yap. — Via Bloomberg

Interesting speculation which may mean a lot for Pokémon fans if a main franchise title does indeed end up on the Nintendo Switch.

If there were a handheld-only version though, would it defeat the purpose of the “Switch”? Weigh in below!

    • I don’t think anyone really “hates” Mei, but I”ll be honest; I’m not a fan of her voice. Its a great casting, perfectly fitting to her character and does sound exactly like a chinese woman who learned english as a second language. Its just that last one is the part I don’t like. I’m not a big fan on thick Chinese accents, and Mei’s adorableness can’t shield that little pet peeve of mine.

  1. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I just cannot get over how fucking good that episode was
Ashi sets out to find Jack and meets a handful of the people he saved and inspired and we learn that Ashi’s skin tight armor…..was her skin…

    • Combine that with seeing Jack trying to commit suicide, the random cameos of pop-eye and astro, seeing the ravers are partying 40-50 years later and Fucking demongo is still somehow alive really make this the best thing ever. I don’t even care about that last one being a spoiler. Please someone explain to me how the heck that thing is still alive!

        Reply
        • But not all reptile Pokemon are dragons and not all dragon types are reptiles

Spiders are colloquially confused with insects, and insects and bugs are often mistaken for the same thing. You wouldn’t be caught dead thinking that steel was a catch all term for metals, unlike thinking bug is a catch all term for arthropods

Dark isn’t really super natural, and it’s very well defined. It’s the things human find evil or dark, such as death, cheating, violence, misfortune, destruction

Ghost is also well defined, dead things, spirits, black magic, that are all bundled together in most media anyway

Fairy is vague… Because irl fairy mythos is vaguer than a guy who plays football but loves a bit of musical theatre on the side

          • Same here, I might sound like a dick sometimes but I respect how much of a good argument you’re giving

I love seeing others opinions and having my own challenged

    • Steel is an Alloy, usually a mix of iron and some other very tough material, but steel isn’t meant to be completely natural in the sense they use it either… if fact, steel pokemon are designed to be usually artificial (Magearna) or enhanced by science (Genesect), born often of mineral creation at their own means (Steelix) or somehow influenced/fused/incarnated (Magnemite/Metagross/Klefki, Accordingly) by man, akin to poison types. the use of the term steel has become cliche with metal to sound tougher and less rusting that iron, which is a more traditional element (type) name. But the philosophy behind the type name “steel” is either “mechanical” “tougher than just metal” or most importantly “somehow influenced by man or craft type”

      Reply
        • Klefki thrives on man-made keys, therefore is completed by incarnation of the inflection of man… Metagross is a 4 socket fusion with often compared to a supercomputer, implying it is somehow connected to man-made understanding and principle of machinery. Magnemite feeds on electricity and focuses on man-made creations to feed, which is a direct influence of it’s species’ continuous growth in domestic areas. Bronzong is a strange case because yes, it does fall under bronze technically, but how do we know, especially given it’s ability “heatproof” that it isn’t influenced as a form of Steel/Bronze basis alloy, given it’s use in interdimentional harvesting too…

          Reply
          • That’s not man-made at all though, that’s called adapting to human life like a shit ton of other animals do.

All we know is that Metagross has an amazing IQ, which probably correlates with its psychic type seeing as Alakazam has comparable IQ and isn’t artificial at all

Magnezone might feed off of human products, but we’ve never been told it itself is man made and for all we know it was steel long before humans interacted because that’s all just speculation

          • Tbh I’m scared why it even discovered concrete…. Like, what would it use it for without aiding in human construction? Is there like Conkeldurr villages out there? 😮

          • Also, thinking of the possibilities… Where did it even get the idea from? My guess lies that some pokemon, as stated in cases like Yamask, mean pokemon might be vastly more intelligent than humans, because in some cases, many humans live on though ghost types and the like… which makes reincarnation as one seem highly possible too, like mystery dungeon conceptually, minus the save the world mission. but it all goes back to the idea of true evolution and Darwinism…

  4. If you could change the type of one evolutionary family to one that suits it more (like Gyardos to Water/Dragon), what would you change? I would change Swablu and Altaria to Pure Flying and Mega Altaria to Flying/Fairy

    • Azumaril to pure water
      Alolan Marowak to Ground/Fire
      Alolan Ninetales Pure Ice
      Alolan Sandslash Pure Ice
And all the Tapus ditching Fairy typing

And lastly change all Rotom Forms and give them different abilities
      Wash Water Absorb
      Heat Flame Body
      Mow Harvest
      Fan Motor Drive
      Frost Refrigerate/Ice Body

only the regular Rotom keeps Levitate

      Reply
      • Azumarill refers to how cute things are referred to as fairy like

Alowak are spiritual and work with spirits

Fairy refers to Ninetales’ magical origins (kitsune), and makes it seem more mystical in nature

Sandslash literally has steel on it, and is as hard as steel

Tapu have the roles and personalities of Fairies in various myths: aloof guardians of nature that are neither benevolent or malevolent

        Reply
        • And Marowak also may be referencing the part about its dead mother and relating to such stories (also maybe A.Marowak is the undead form of a real female marowak. Explains Ghost even more)

          Reply
        • I think that Azumarill is a Fairy type because of the relations that Japan give between Bunnies and the Moon. And Fairy type itself having a relations with the Moon.

I’m just worried as to why Dedenne is Fairy

          Reply
          • i said because they were sucking the fairy dick at the time and giving it to everything they could

          • If they were giving it to every thing they could it would’ve been on mega Absol, Milotic, Mismagius, Lake Trio, Castform, etc

          • But that also could mean Bunneary could have Fairy, but I won’t argue that I like Bunneary as Normal type

          • But if we go to the argument of “cute things are fairy like” a lot of mons could have fairy just because they’re cute

          • Yeah no argument here yet I feel now that you say that Bunneary could get a few Fairy moves for that logic not a retyping but more moves

          • Buneary isn’t water type (water also has moon ties) and isn’t an ‘object come to life’ (whereas Marill’s like appears to be based off a beach ball or bouy or something)

        • -Up for debate

-The only mention of spirits in any of A. Marowak’s Data is the sun entry “The bones it possesses were once its mother’s. Its mother’s regrets have become like a vengeful spirit protecting this Pokémon.”

          – ughhh it should’ve so been a Ghost or Psychic type

          – it still says it’s hard like steel, but that still doesn’t mean its steel itself, they should’ve made a better explanation (that’s why i hate most of them half of them don’t explain it well enough)

          – i get that, but they don’t ALL need to be Fairy, Koko could be Flying, Fini Ghost, Lele can keep Fairy, and Bulu Fighting

          Reply
          • >Thats still a mention of spirits
            >Except Ghost relates to undead and dark spirits and Psychic isn’t actual magic, it’s stage magic themed due to the whole illusion and sleight of hand theme. Fairy is the ‘white magic’ type.
            >It easily could have metal on it, say, its claws.
            >They’re spirits of nature, Fairy fits. Don’t see you bitching about the legendary birds, kami Trio, creation Trio, etc sharing a type. You’re just bitching because its fairy.

          • But alolan Sandlash’s moon Pokedex entry clearly states that it’s Spikes are made of steel

          • “This Pokémon’s steel spikes are sheathed in ice. Stabs from these spikes cause deep wounds and severe frostbite as well.”

          • For sandshrew:

“It lives on snowy mountains. Its steel shell is very hard—so much so, it can’t roll its body up into a ball.”

      • 1:They have CLOUDS for wings! Clouds, birds and sky are the one thing I think of when thinking about pure flying types and they’re exactly that.
2: Why would they be Dragon types? Alolan Exeggutor is more Dragon-like.
3: There just should be more pure flying types. This typing has so much potential, it’s just unfair.

        Reply
        • A it’s just cotton like feathers not actual clouds
B it is based on a Peng with is a giant ass dragon bird with clouds for wings
C and you can’t have pure flying types outside being an elemental of wind, otherwise it usually always needs a base because literally every flying type is a creature that flies and only one of them is a wind elemental, the only exception is Noivern’s line being primary flying but that may because Noivern is about sound waves and very little draconian in nature

          Reply
          • Okay, A and B kinda make sense but C is plain stupid. There are many desingns you could create that aren’t wind or elemental! For example a Hawk with Fighter Jet-like features or a Kite pokemon or as I said Cloud pokemon should be Pure Flying type. We had one Pure Flying type and the fact that It’s elemental doesn’t mean every Pure Flying type would be elemental. That was one bad argument.

          • Well the hawk part would be normal or steel

Well you could say the whole pure flying thing doesn’t make sense but how many pure flying AREN’T elementals
and a Cloud Pokemon could be pure flying but they might pair it with Water because clouds are made of water

you can’t fight this logic, you can’t have pure flight unless it is wind, otherwise its a creature that flies

          • Earthen, your logic doesn’t rule over everyone else, until GF says this it’s open to interpretation

          • well how is my logic in any sense wrong because i’m basing this on what’s given and actual reason
you cannot deny that nearly all flying types are creatures with flight and only 1 1/2 wind elemental

          • Because your logic is only based on what has occurred, and not on what has been denied. You need to be open to change and interpretation

          • So? i mean you can’t get mad a me because i’m basing my logic on what is given and not flim flam what ifs

          • Its a kids game, the rules will always be flexible

You need to remember than and get off your damned high horse m8

          • I haven’t lost though? You can’t really lose an argument that has no answer you sad little man XD

          • i gave an answer

you guys ALWAYS pull its a game, or just a long list of bullshit instead of giving a definite answer

          • Because it is a game, and there’s no definitive answer

Get that through your thick skull XD

          • Earthen, there is no answer out there and we are in fact talking about a kids game

It’s not some sort of forfeit or catch all phrase, it’s the definitive truth.

          • yes there is, and every time you don’t give me a answer and either say its a game or say something about me its proof my logic is on the right track,

          • No earthen, there is no answer. GameFreak has no official stance on the matter, and the answer will only come when they decide to speak about it, which they probably won’t.

You have an interpretation, not an answer, that you feel entitled to lord over other people to compensate for certain aspects, unaware that there is no wrong answer until a right one is shown to us. Just likely and unlikely answers.

I can’t give you an answer because there is no answer to give. So pull your head out of your ass, because your words are becoming shit.

God if I wanted to kill myself I’d climb up your ego and jump to your IQ

          • Pengs aren’t Dragons tho, the only thing that links Altaria and Dragons is it’s Japanese name, Wich references the constellation of Draco and that’s it

    • Dragonite – Dragon/Water or Fairy
      Victini – Fire/Fairy
      Haxorus – Dragon/Steel or Fighting
      Ninetales – add Ghost typing
Flygon – Dragon/Bug or Ground/Bug but SpA oriented
      Milotic – Water/Fairy

      And for @EarthenWarrior

      Rhyperior – Ground/Fairy

  5. I still think if a Pokémon based on the cottonweed (Whimsicott) can be Fairy just because of Mischievous behavior (Which in point is why Sneasel and Murkrow are Dark type) that Hoppip can’t and has no way to even come close to Fairy even though the saying “If you make a wish on a wishing puff (Dandelion) it will come true” that it relates to wishes which because of some Pokémon having that logic for being Fairy is magic and Wishes it makes total sense.

    Reply
    • or the fact that Hoppit’s line are just extremely lightweight plants that get whisked into the air by the slightest breeze?

      BUTTTTTT
The whole Dandelion Grass/Fairy could very much easily work if jazzed up a notch but i won’t make one, instead a giant gorilla made of metal with literal blocks of metal for fists and a thirst for blood

    • The thing is, Whimsicott also resembles Fairies, and isn’t just mischievous, it’s also playful and generally light hearted.

  9. So as I’m nearing the end of BotW, I’ve been writing up a little review for the game. I’ve never done this before, but I’ve been enjoying the game a lot and I want to give it praise as well as nitpick about it a little.
