Pokémon GO Valentine’s Event Announced

Pokémon GO is showing just how much they love their fans this Valentine’s Day by releasing Generation II increasing the amount of candy gained and making some rare Pokémon more common!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we couldn’t think of a sweeter time to double the amount of Candy you’ll earn every time you catch, hatch, and transfer Pokémon. Your Buddy Pokémon is also getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit and will find Candy twice as fast!

Throughout the celebration, you’ll notice that Chansey, Clefable, and many other adorable pink Pokémon will be encountered more frequently in the wild. Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum will also be more likely to hatch from Eggs. And to help you paint your town pink this Valentine’s Day, Lure Modules will last for six hours for the entire duration of the event.

This limited-time celebration will only be available from 11:00 A.M. PST on February 8, 2017, to 11:00 A.M. PST on February 15, 2017, so grab your valentine, get out, and explore the world around you!

Ready to fire up GO and grab a pink Pokémon, stock up on candies or try your luck with some lure modules?! Fun fact: Clefairy is actually my buddy Pokémon!

    • I always thought it was a prism and it would gain different powers or maybe forms from focusing light from either the sun or the moon. But what is your theory?

      • This was the whole thing when I first posted it:

        So in Sun’s dex entry, it states:

        “Reminiscent of the Ultra Beasts, this life-form, apparently asleep underground, is thought to have come from another world in ancient times.”

        The part about it being asleep underground struck at me, as there wouldn’t necessarily anything in Alola that would be a fitting place for it to sleep and become Necrozma (since we all know that Necrozma is somehow related to Solgaleo/Lunala’s line because of its cry, moves, and the whole light situation). But, when I looked back at Ten Carat Hill in my Sun copy, I realized something about its description:

        “A great hill formed by the activity of an underwater volcano. It is famous for the hollow in its middle that is open to the air.”

        Now, while this might not seem like anything shocking, take a closer inspection at volcanos. What do volcanos sometimes produce while they flow magma? Volcanic glass. And a particular volcanic glass that we all know is Obsidian. Obsidian is known for being hard and brittle, not easy to break at all. Another thing is, obsidian can also exist in underwater volcanoes, its possible. When looking at Necrozma’s ability, Prism Armor, it lessen super effective attacks. So the relation of this and obsidian make a lot of sense.

        Speaking of Prisms, one can make a prism with either the following materials: plastic, fluorite, or glass. Obsidian is also glass as well. And there is such a thing as an obsidian prism.

        What I’m saying is, I believe that Necrozma has been asleep in Ten Carat Hill within the underwater volcano, and as such developed a hardened obsidian-like body that enables it to refract light because its it body being glass-like (explaining its ability and high defense).

        A speculated history I have about Necrozma’s origin is it originated one of the first Ultra Wormholes opened up, but with a Cosmoem coming out of it. At the time, it was trying to gain energy in preparation for its next form, Solgaleo/Lunala, yet where it landed at from the Ultra Wormhole was the underwater volcano. Within the deep magma areas, the rapid cooling of the water help produce obsidian, which the absorbing Cosmoem combined into its physiology. Over time, it became buried underground because of so many years passing by, developing a weaker body than Solgaleo/Lunala because of its inaccessible source of light at the time. Therefore, that is why it has weaker stats than Solgaleo/Lunala

        • Okay that would also explain why Cosmoem can’t naturally evolve into Necrozma because it had to be put through such extreme and specific conditions…also since Obsidian is rather brittle it would explain why it looks chiped and it’s back is completely gone. But I think this is a really good theory. I can’t wait to learn more about Necrozma and it’s counterparts.

  7. NYYYYYAAARHGBHNH MY BRAIN
    Every single dream I had was of breath of the wild, I remember wandering poorly lit camps filled with Bokoblims and weird mechanical snipers, I even saw the Steppe Talus and I specifically remember being a total asswad and spamming remote bombs so it fell off a cliff repeatedly, but nearly everything kills me because I had no armor or hearts

    Oh and Mini-Guardian! A teeny tiny Pyramid shaped Guardian with a big blinks blue light with 4 legs, it followed me around and has all sorts of abilities

  14. I got a sassy shiny female Mareanie, finally! It has limber though so I just need to get an ability capsule. I hope it’s easy to get one and that it keeps the same ability after I put it in the bank

    • more balls I say! like since re-releasing the HGSS balls this gen even if its only one they must have seen how popular they are, hopefully next gen they will make more new poke balls

      • I agree. Much of the trading, at least agreed ones on forums etc are for Pokemon in those balls. I myself have collected many of them.

        • same, I think beast balls are in the highest demand but all the other balls are up there too, it just makes me so happy to see that others use special balls too, I literally cringe everytime I get any pokemon in a normal pokeball that could have been caught in anything else, unless its a red pokemon or something, then I guess its ok

          • Well Beast are tough to catch anything but UB’s in. However you can get infinite of them I think, if you don’t finish the quests, so in that way I value them about the same. I just like ones that match the Pokemon in some way.

    The Razor Pokemon
    Type: Steel/Poison
    Ability: Swift Spike (all steel type moves have +1 priority)
    Height: 5′ 11″
    Weight: 123 lbs
    Dex Entry: They lurk on the seafloor, covering themselves in sand. They attack their prey swiftly with their toxic stingers on their tail. These Pokemon hang out by sunken ships, sometimes using their steel bodys to camouflage into the iron of the ship.

  23. Do you guys think it’s a bit too disturbing if I give my regional Rhyperior metallic tendons connected to metallic spheres coming out of its palm holes which mimic a flail?

    • totes i really don’t like your whole regional Rhyhorn thing, i mean is it really regional or just plain forced evolution? didn’t you say the rules purged the Rhyhorn just because they thought their bodies were impervious and then subjugated them to biological reconstruction to fuel their war machines?

          i’m naturally against the altercation of Pokemon by man made reasons

          just the same i’m against Alolan forms that aren’t environmental because these situations could be performed anywhere not just the alola region

          like you wanted to make a Variant of Magmar into a Fire/Poison just because people fed them poisonous fuels to increase the toxicity of their flames goes up instead of magmar being slowly adapting to poisonous volcanic minerals allowing them a resistance of them and being able to exhale toxic fires

            And no, your designs are boring and play it too safe in both concept and name. You also try too hard to reach a quota which means that you’ve got designs that are notably weaker than others, and your obsession of names having to be simple leads to your legends sounding like a two year old named them

            and yes my naming skills are hit or miss because naming is hard and sometimes you gotta take a simpler routes, and its not focused on a quota its to make sure that i don’t make dual type after dual type just to balance it out

            Also, seeing as you thought something as simple as ‘Hirsutox’ was complex, you’re not exactly a great judge

            3) You’ve said you’re trying to balance every type so it gets equal when doing that just means you’re making designs to just fill a quota which makes them feel forced and like they don’t have enough care put into them, they’re just there to be there. It’s why the main series doesn’t try to type balance.

            And i never said i don’t care about my designs, I am a creator and my designs are like my children (my violent and monstrous children) and i ensure that each one has significant care and thought put in it

            But i firmly believe in a fair and equal dex, so what is the problem if i give everything a fair shot i hate fairies but i made several, so i just ignore some types just because i made one or two pokemon with a extremely solid creation?

          • I’m just saying that your methods make your fan made Pokémon appear weak and uncared for, not that they actually are. And an equal Dex is idiotic because a) it puts unnecessary stress on designers and b) it’s not realistic in an in universe sense, some types are going to be rarer than others especially because of geography

            Did you know what two or more exact words Greninja, Delphox, Furfrou, Kommo-o, Tapu Koko, Necrozma, Reshiram, Vivillon, etc came from? If you don’t even know a single one of them off by heart, you should shut up about Hirsutox becuase you’re ridiculously hypocritical when my name literally is nowhere near as complex as any of those (it’s a combo of two English words for one)

            Necro as in dark and evil and undeath kinda like the blackness of space
            i don’t remember exactly but they developers made it sound softer compared to Zekrom
            and vivid and butterfly in french

            i just never heard what hisu or tox means unles toxic or moth like

          • Now Earthen, did you naturally learn those words in day to day life, or did you learn them when those Pokémon were revealed?

            Also, Kommo-o comes from Mo’o, Hawaiian for lizard, which you conveniently missed out. Never heard it before? Then shut up.

            Also, tox is obviously from toxic, and Hirsute just like those foreign words in those names you probably had to look up

          • Almost all of mine are natural excluding Porygon-Z that was remodifided to remove its error that made it become what it did (funny how its one of three that both forms can be found in mine)
