Pokémon GO Valentine’s Event Announced

Pokémon GO is showing just how much they love their fans this Valentine’s Day by releasing Generation II increasing the amount of candy gained and making some rare Pokémon more common!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we couldn’t think of a sweeter time to double the amount of Candy you’ll earn every time you catch, hatch, and transfer Pokémon. Your Buddy Pokémon is also getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit and will find Candy twice as fast!

Throughout the celebration, you’ll notice that Chansey, Clefable, and many other adorable pink Pokémon will be encountered more frequently in the wild. Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum will also be more likely to hatch from Eggs. And to help you paint your town pink this Valentine’s Day, Lure Modules will last for six hours for the entire duration of the event.

This limited-time celebration will only be available from 11:00 A.M. PST on February 8, 2017, to 11:00 A.M. PST on February 15, 2017, so grab your valentine, get out, and explore the world around you!

Ready to fire up GO and grab a pink Pokémon, stock up on candies or try your luck with some lure modules?! Fun fact: Clefairy is actually my buddy Pokémon!

    Off topic entirely, but I’m pretty angry about this. So for some odd reason my school has recently taken a strong position on video games. They’ve fallen into the false mentality that video games make murderers, and now the teachers (except one who actually plays video games, he’s a cool guy) are all preaching out against video games. I thought we had moved passed this, and now my school is treating gamers like we’ve got some sort of mental disease. It’s actually a little funny now that I think about it but it was pretty enraging at the time lol.

  31. How Pokemon Go could’ve been a good game

    – Simple battle mechanics, doesnt have to be as deep or complex as the main series, but a battling system.
    – A tracker that works
    – Sprinkle in some gen 2 mons at release to add extra variety to spawns
    – Being able to train and level up pokemon.
    – Bluetooth/LAN battling
    – Treasure boxes that randomly spawn containing items, eggs and coins
    – Consistant updates
    – Replace Teams with user made factions that control gyms. Players can join eachother’s factions.

Trainer raised and wild Incinion are said to be drastically different from each other.

  39. Yo got my first regional variant concept for my rebooted Dex, working on the first form before finalising its two evos

    Name: Regional Rhyhorn
    Type: Steel/Normal
    Ability: Bulletproof/Sturdy/Filter
    Basis: Dürer’s Rhinoceros and a knight (more apparent later)

    When Rhyhorn was first brought from a distant land, rumours spread of it possessing armor that rivalled the hardness of iron. Dissapointed that this was not the case, am ancient king bred Rhyhorn to become iron armored behemoths for use in his army.

    This Pokémon is immensely heavy, and eats minerals high in metals. Due to their sheer power and expensive eating habits, they’re very rare. The rarest of them all is the shiny variant, who’s armor matches gold in beauty and iron in strength.

    Whilst originally used to take down forts in ancient days, this Pokémon is now a police Pokémon due to its resilience, loyalty and strong charging power.

I was playing Dragon Age today and one character talked about how he ignored some kids stringing up a puppy from a tree and how it broke him that he was too weak to do something when he could have.     • I always thought it was a prism and it would gain different powers or maybe forms from focusing light from either the sun or the moon. But what is your theory?

      • This was the whole thing when I first posted it:

        So in Sun’s dex entry, it states:

        “Reminiscent of the Ultra Beasts, this life-form, apparently asleep underground, is thought to have come from another world in ancient times.”

        The part about it being asleep underground struck at me, as there wouldn’t necessarily anything in Alola that would be a fitting place for it to sleep and become Necrozma (since we all know that Necrozma is somehow related to Solgaleo/Lunala’s line because of its cry, moves, and the whole light situation). But, when I looked back at Ten Carat Hill in my Sun copy, I realized something about its description:

        “A great hill formed by the activity of an underwater volcano. It is famous for the hollow in its middle that is open to the air.”

        Now, while this might not seem like anything shocking, take a closer inspection at volcanos. What do volcanos sometimes produce while they flow magma? Volcanic glass. And a particular volcanic glass that we all know is Obsidian. Obsidian is known for being hard and brittle, not easy to break at all. Another thing is, obsidian can also exist in underwater volcanoes, its possible. When looking at Necrozma’s ability, Prism Armor, it lessen super effective attacks. So the relation of this and obsidian make a lot of sense.

        Speaking of Prisms, one can make a prism with either the following materials: plastic, fluorite, or glass. Obsidian is also glass as well. And there is such a thing as an obsidian prism.

        What I’m saying is, I believe that Necrozma has been asleep in Ten Carat Hill within the underwater volcano, and as such developed a hardened obsidian-like body that enables it to refract light because its it body being glass-like (explaining its ability and high defense).

        A speculated history I have about Necrozma’s origin is it originated one of the first Ultra Wormholes opened up, but with a Cosmoem coming out of it. At the time, it was trying to gain energy in preparation for its next form, Solgaleo/Lunala, yet where it landed at from the Ultra Wormhole was the underwater volcano. Within the deep magma areas, the rapid cooling of the water help produce obsidian, which the absorbing Cosmoem combined into its physiology. Over time, it became buried underground because of so many years passing by, developing a weaker body than Solgaleo/Lunala because of its inaccessible source of light at the time. Therefore, that is why it has weaker stats than Solgaleo/Lunala

        • Okay that would also explain why Cosmoem can’t naturally evolve into Necrozma because it had to be put through such extreme and specific conditions…also since Obsidian is rather brittle it would explain why it looks chiped and it’s back is completely gone. But I think this is a really good theory. I can’t wait to learn more about Necrozma and it’s counterparts.

  82. NYYYYYAAARHGBHNH MY BRAIN
    Every single dream I had was of breath of the wild, I remember wandering poorly lit camps filled with Bokoblims and weird mechanical snipers, I even saw the Steppe Talus and I specifically remember being a total asswad and spamming remote bombs so it fell off a cliff repeatedly, but nearly everything kills me because I had no armor or hearts

    Oh and Mini-Guardian! A teeny tiny Pyramid shaped Guardian with a big blinks blue light with 4 legs, it followed me around and has all sorts of abilities

        • same, I think beast balls are in the highest demand but all the other balls are up there too, it just makes me so happy to see that others use special balls too, I literally cringe everytime I get any pokemon in a normal pokeball that could have been caught in anything else, unless its a red pokemon or something, then I guess its ok

          • Well Beast are tough to catch anything but UB’s in. However you can get infinite of them I think, if you don’t finish the quests, so in that way I value them about the same. I just like ones that match the Pokemon in some way.

    Dex Entry: They lurk on the seafloor, covering themselves in sand. They attack their prey swiftly with their toxic stingers on their tail. These Pokemon hang out by sunken ships, sometimes using their steel bodys to camouflage into the iron of the ship.

  130. I still can’t decide whether I should evolve the Pikachu I transfered over from my Yellow. On one hand it is kind of special to keep it a Pikachu since well…You know. lol On the other hand it’s not all that strong compared to what it could be. Plus the added psychic typing could better round out the team it’s in…..What should I do?!?! Hahaha

          • Yes, it makes no sense. It could’ve been something to do with built up electricity in raichu’s tail caused it to develop a magnetism with the naturally magnetized landscape of Alola. Over time the Raichu developed to being able to rest on their tails in order to keep off the ground and avoid sharp rocks that might harm them.

          • I’m still learning towards mixed breeding in the Alola region to generate Pikachus in the wild resulted in an increased flow of electricity in its brain which finally mutated it when exposed to a thunderstone

            The only one that gets a half pass is exeggutor only because of super sunny climates causing extremely growth and that’s it

            Sandshrew and Vulpix make sense but their added types out of nowhere just don’t add up, should’ve been pure ice each of them

            And not to mention the non environmental stuff which gets me angry, Marowak going fire ghost just because the abundance of grass types makes very little sense since water is a big issue, they’re trying to push fire dancers
            Meowth is also a big case since fucking nearly any Royal family anywhere couldn’ve raised them spoiled and cruel not limited to the Alola region

            Grimer and Muk get a pass since they explained their reason well but still this could’ve happened anywhere

            They don’t even explain how Geodude became magnetized,

            This is why Regional Variants need to die, they’re just becoming excuses to reskin old Pokemon

          • I quite agree, although I love A. Raichu, raticate, muk, and vulpix. They did a really poor job for the reasoning, which is the main problem.

            He made his regional Rhyhorn a Steel/Normal type just because his region purged the minerals out of them and force fed them metals just to become war machines

            How can anyone possibly not see the audacity of this

            Purging the minerals in its body somehow turning it Normal and force feeding it metals to become a steel type

          • Maybe a better way would to have it turn into a Steel type by way of the mountain itself. Maybe the mountain could be made of much harder materials and since Rhyhorn needs to get around on said mountain it needed to “evolve” into a Steel type to better crush and cut the rocks and whatnot. Is that better? lol

            If I were doing it I would say that it becomes Ground/Steel because the abundance of a nutritious ores not only made their bodies harder and tougher, their new taste for the ore urged them to bash and dig into solid rock and ground to dig it up

          • Is there any instance in which you are ok with it not having the ground typing? Like if it had just Steel typing? lol Just curious. Would it ruin it for you if the Rhyhorn line lost ground type all together? I’m not saying it gets another typing you hate or anything. Just in general. Like if it was JUST Steel type.

          • This has nothing to do with losing its ground type, it’s how he made a regional variant solely because of forced evolution

          • Yeah it was. Transferred up my entire team up to Sun. I had Pikachu, Nidoking, Gengar, Seadra, Dodrio, and Hitmonchan. It was a decent team for Yellow, but now I’m trying to make them somewhat decent for current standards. This involving changing moves, giving items, and the possibility of evolving my Pikachu lol

          • Don’t let the nostalgia get in the way. the old games aren’t as great as you remember. It’s fun to visit, but the original games by current standards are actually trash hahaha

          • I mean many times people will act like games of the past are SO much better than current games just because they had good times playing them. Just because you have god memories of said game doesn’t mean it was actually “good”. Either way there’s nothing stopping you from playing the older games and enjoying them if you really do like them lol

    • If it truly was that special, I’d say not to evolve it. Not because of Ash or anything, but if your Pikachu reminded you of the good times you had in Yellow, then keep the tradition of it being unevolved
