Pokémon Mascot Showdown: Generation VII

Hey everybody, due to certain circumstances, we’re bringing you the last regional Mascot Showdown a little bit later! The winner of the last showdown is Xerneas with 53%.
Let’s move on to our last region: Alola. This brand new region is the startpoint for Generation VII – bringing incredible, new features like Trials, Z-Moves, the Battle Royal, Poké Rides, regional variants and so much more!

Pokémon Sun Version

Pokémon Sun featured Solgaleo, the Sunne Pokémon, on its cover. It resembles a more robust white lion design complete with a galaxy motif on its forehead. Its crownlike spikes and its tuffs of fur around its head resemble a sun. Among the people of Alola, it’s known as the beast that devours the sun and has therefore been honored as its emissary.

Solgaleo is the only known Pokémon that can learn the move Sunsteel Strike. Along with Lunala, its counterpart, it’s the only Legendary Pokémon that’s part of an evolutionary line. Not to mention it also has the highest HP-stat of all Steel-type Pokémon. Its name comes from ‘sol‘ (Latin for ‘sun’), ‘Galileo‘ (the man who proved that the Earth rotated around the sun) and ‘leo‘ (Latin for ‘lion’).

Pokémon Moon Version

Lunala, the Moone Pokémon, graced the cover of Pokémon Moon. It’s a large skeleton-like bat whose wings seem to resemble the moon, and are made of the night sky. Much like Solgaleo, it can travel between our dimension and the Ultra Space. Additionally, it’s called the beast that calls the moon, thus gaining the title “emissary of the moon” by the Alolan people.

Lunala‘s signature move is called Moongeist Beam. While Solgaleo is called the male evolution of Cosmog, Lunala is called the female one. Its name derives from ‘luna‘ (Latin for ‘moon’) and ‘ala‘ (Latin for ‘wing’).

I am more concerned with the date of the console
March 17th is Saint Patrick’s Day aka a Friday, and I work Fridays

I’ll be damned if I’m gonna work on a day of a console or the day of Zelda Breath of the Wild

I bet I can weasel out of work but I’m just so god damned worried about actually getting the console either I pre-order online the thing the nanosecond it comes live or pray that my Toys R Us is getting it first day (I chose them over Best Buy or GameStop because EVERYONE floods there first)

  3. Yo are Pokedex entries still hip with the kids? Got a Fakémon based on the Gigelorum, a mythical insect said to inhibit the ears of mites – they’re tiny! So I thought a Gigelorum evolving into a mite made sense: and then, as ticks are bigger than mites and are related to them, I made it the regional bug three liner.

    Name: Miniscute (Miniscule + Cute)
    Species: Tiniest Pokémon
    Size: 0’02” (Smallest Pokémon!)
    Type: Bug/Normal
    Ability: Winsome*/Sturdy/Cute Charm
    Evolves at Level 20

Acid: This Pokémon is the smallest recorded Macro Pokémon – Pokémon visible to the eye, and the only Pokémon variety it is legal to battle with. In fact, old legends said that newly hatched Miniscute live in the ears of their mothers.

Base: Some people are paranoid they’ll not see a Miniscute and accidently crush it. It’s believed this is why it has such a vivid green colour. However, Miniscute is sturdy enough that being trapped under something is a mild inconvenience to it.

*Winsome: By being so cute, attackers go easy on this Pokémon. Super effective attacks do half the damage.

    Name: Mitinee
    Species: Tiny Pokémon
Size: 0’04” (Joltik sized, formerly the smallest size class of Pokémon)
    Type: Bug/Normal
    Ability: Winsome*/Sturdy/Cute Charm
    Evolves at Level 65

Acid: Unlike most evolutionary lines, Mitinee tend to be the parenting stage of their line. Most naturally occurring evolution lines* tend to breed in their final stage in the wild. This is because most Mitinee don’t make it to Gigalorum stage, as they do not become strong enough.

Base: Despite being a close relative to feared Macro Pokémon such as Galvantula and Araquanid, as well as parasitic Micro Pokémon, Mitinee is considered quite cute. Due to this, casual trainers and pet owners won’t evolve Mitinee. Unlike other naturally evolving Pokémon, this isn’t seen as neglectful as it has no health drawbacks on the specimen.

*Naturally occurring means it’ll happen to the Pokémon in due time. This means Pokémon that evolve through level up (its simply them growing), through happiness/affection (happens when they find a mate, a pack, etc) or through location (the Pokémon would eventually head there to evolve at some point). Some Pokemon are naturally evolving in some regions and aren’t in others. Probopass isn’t natural in Hoenn and Kalos as the magnetism comes from an unnatural source (New Mauvile & Power Plant) but is natural in Sinnoh, Unova and Alola (its naturally found in these regions and evolves at Mt. Coronet, Chargestone Cave, and Vast Poni Canyon).

    Name: Gigalorum
    Species: Massive Pokémon
    Size: 6’06”
    Type: Bug/Normal
    Abilities: Terrify*/Sturdy/Intimidate

*Pokémon are treated as if they have – 1 Attack and Special Attack when against a Pokémon with this ability.

Acid: This Pokémon is absolutely huge. In fact, it’s believed that its pre-evolutions are so small to conserve the energy to evolve into Gigalorum. It is said that Miniscute born from Gigalorum are stronger than those born from Mitinee.

Base: Their microscopic relatives suck on blood, yet this Pokémon prefers fruit and vegetables. This, as well as still being cute in demeanor even after becoming a physically imposing behemoth, is believed to stem from its domestication for use as a ride Pokémon.

  6. Pokedex Entry: 248
    Leviliath
    Classification: The Huge Tempest Pokemon
    Height: 124’7 Feet
    Weight: 2059.8 Lbs
    Typing: Water/Steel
    Ability: Cyclone Caller
    Stats:
    HP: 110
    Attack: 70
    Defense: 110
    Special Attack: 150
    Special Defense: 110
    Speed: 50
    Base Stat Total: 600
Pokedex Entry: This Pokemon is located deep within the ocean and rarely surface, which is an extremely good thing. Entire islands can be swallowed in storms mere moments if this Pokemon rages. It is the largest Pokemon in existence and a single scale from this pokemon is about the size of a house roof. Records exist of a tribe who worshiped this pokemon made a trial that required each member to pick a scale of this pokemon. Needless to say, they don’t exist today.

I made a comment about making a big Pokemon yesterday… here it is
