Pokémon Mascot Showdown: Generation VI

Greetings everyone, here is another Mascot Pokémon Showdown. The winner of last time is Zekrom with 35%!
Now it’s time for Kalos. Generation VI released in 2013 with a worldwide release for the first time. This generation contained just two main games, namely X and Y, and featured some great new stuff like the Fairy-typing, Mega Evolution and trainer customization.

Pokémon X Version

Pokémon X showcased Xerneas, the Life Pokémon. It’s the first Fairy-type Legendary and is a stag-like creature shaped like an X. The horns on its head contain the colors of the rainbow and can grant someone eternal life. When it’s at the end of its own life, it transforms into a tree and sleeps for 1000 years.

There is no other Pokémon known than Xerneas that can learn the move Geomancy, making it the only Legendary Mascot whose signature move is a status move. It has the same stat distribution as Yveltal, but has the highest base stat total and Attack stat of all non-Mega Evolved Fairy-type Pokémon. Its name may come from the letter ‘X‘ and ‘cervus‘ (Latin for ‘deer’).

Pokémon Y Version

Pokémon Y featured Yveltal, the Destruction Pokémon. It is an avian Pokémon with the Dark/Flying type combo. Its wings and tail make the letter Y when fully extended. It has the power to absorb life energy. In contrast to Xerneas, Yveltal sucks all the life energy of every living thing around it when it is at the end of its life, creating a cocoon of itself so it can sleep for 1000 years.

Yveltal‘s signature move is called Oblivion Wing. It has the highest base HP stat of all Dark-type Pokémon and is actually also the only Dark-type Mascot Legendary Pokémon known yet. Its name possibly derives from the letter ‘Y‘, ‘yvel‘ (Middle English for ‘evil’) and ‘talon‘.

  1. So for once I have no homework, I’m in my living room at 3am unable to fall asleep, and I’m in a relatively good mood, so I hope nobody minds me dropping in despite the several times I’ve mentioned my temporarily leave. I mean I’m definitely not trying to attention whore by coming back after saying I’ll be gone but it’s just that I actually have the free time now and again, y’know?

  2. So, what’s everyone been up to?

Since I’ve last updated, my free time has pretty much been going out with friends, reading the Sword of Summer (also I made a mistake in my earlier post, I bought the first two Magnus Chase books- I wish Magnus Bane had two full length books) and playing Bravely Default.

  3. I wonder how we’re able to recieve the non-Alola mon Mega Stones.. Maybe Dexio and Sina will be like “o hey, is dat a Gardevoir? Did you know Gardevoir can Mega Evolve? Here, have this” or something

  4. You know you’re British when you’re sitting sleep deprived in your living room at five in the morning with a cuppa watching soaps

    • I accidentally got really far behind on Eastenders thanks to video games so I have no idea what’s happened in several weeks.

I kept up with Corrie though.

And I’ll make tea in an hour or two, don’t want the kettle to wake people.

      • My mother gave up on EastEnders because she’s fallen so behind XD

Corrie’s easier to keep up with imo, never pinned down why but it being the best soap helps with that.

My kettle woke up my little sister, which really surprised me because she’s a hella deep sleeper. Had to explain to her it wasn’t a home invasion XD

        • One day I’m going to sit down and find an episode of Eastenders where nobody says the word “family”. I’m still waiting.

Yeah, I get that feeling. Maybe it’s because stuff tends to happen quicker or something.

Should have told her you were being held hostage by a man demanding all your teabags.

  5. So quick question. Have any of you folks been watching the VGC European Championships. There have been some interesting matches so far. I’m just trying to play catch up now.

  6. Shiny chained a Modest Grubbin after 5, then a Timid Caterpie after 3, then I got greedy and without saving, went for a Dewpider who, after about 50-something, lost count, I fell asleep. Woke up and the first two were gone… POR QUOI!? T_T

  7. Just remembered when I was hatching a bunch of Abra for Nature-scumming I accidentally hatched a shiny one. Fastest I’ve ever acquired a shiny from a game.

  8. Whelp I went into the other dimension to get Cosmog and now I feel like there’s no other reason to be there than just to be there. I wish they gave more incentives to go into the other dimension. The only thing I find interesting about it is the idea that you could possibly stay there for as long as you want. That is if I’m not wrong about that and eventually you have to go back to your dimension for specific things. It just feels like a missed opportunity.

      • But that’s so lame. I need to do something that only happens during the day when it’s nighttime (I have Sun) then I’ll just freaking wait until morning…..It just seems like they could have done something cool with it and they didn’t. Don’t even get me started on the fact that they give you another Cosmog, but it just evolves into another Solagleo……Plus the idea that you could never really have a living dex without either having 3 games or being able to get two other people to give up theirs for no reason on their part…..Seems flawed lol

        Reply
        • Yeah, if you could have inverted the time at the begining I would have completed the game much quicker because I wouldn’t have waited until the next day to do stuff.

I’ve been hoping to find out if you can evolve Cosmog into Lunala by trading it to a copy of Moon and evolving it there, I’ve got a feeling it’s possible because of how Rockruff works but I haven’t had chance to try it.

Gamefreak don’t account for people who try to keep living dexes because they don’t expect people to do that. Besides which you’d also have to trade for other version-exclusive legendaries and you’d need another Type: Null

          • This is true…..*sigh*….I suppose it’s just the kind of thing that’ll take multiple games to do and once again I’m no longer a National dex owner……hahaha

          • Tbh it doesn’t bother me much because there are other things about SM that bother me a lot more. It’s got stuff that it did really well and other stuff where they just screwed up again. Alt-World is somewhere inbetween.

          • And yeah, no national dex makes me sad, I’d already completed most of the dex before becoming champion, all I have left is trade-evolutions, stone-evolutions, happiness-evolutions, the Tapus, the UBs and a few eggs.

    • Agreed, aside from time-of-day evolutions the only uses for the alt world is Cosmog and time-specific Zygarde cores (which I think was a stupid idea in the first place). It’s still cool, but It could have been better.

      • I just feel like if they were gonna make it be another dimension then they should have added extra stuff to it. The only things that make it different from your regular dimension, ignoring the day/night stuff which doesn’t even matter if you just have patience and wait for the correct time anyhow, is the symbol on the alters. They could have at least made it seem like the trainers you faced in your dimension weren’t battled yet as they’re from a dimension where you didn’t yet. That would have made traversing the opposite dimension more worthwhile. Even just a little anyway….lol

      • Since Star put names (in order)

Julius (was going to be Venus, but I couldn’t be bugged SRing even though I got a Jolly male so it got named after a guy who claimed to be a descendant of Venus)

Alexandria (after the Lighthouse of Alexandria, and in turn Alexander the Great)

Ambrosia (The food of the Gods)

Lycaon (First werewolf, would’ve saved it for Midnight but I didn’t have a better name :/)

Demeter (Goddess of harvest and agriculture, who has the sickle as a symbol)

Babylon (after the Whore of Babylon)

I had my whole team by Mallow (I had Alolan Grimer all the way up to and including Kiawe and swapped in Cutiefly because I couldn’t resist)

        • Fun fact: The lighthouse of Alexandria is also known as the pharos of Alexandria or simply the pharos, which is the origin of the ‘pharos’ in Ampharos’ name.

Also ‘Ambrose’ is a real name with the same root of Ambrosia.

I had all but Lurantis by Mallow, can’t remember what I was using before that, but I remember I had to grind the fomantis up because my team got stuck being about 10 levels higher than everything else for most of the game.

          • I was going to get one before Lana but decided to wait to catch one from Lush Jungle. I wasn’t sure if I was going to have one originally since it would have meant two grass types, but when I realised how much effort it was to get a Mareanie I decided against it.

It annoyed me how loads of the newest Pokemon weren’t catchable until most of the Trial Captains had been beaten.

If I remember correctly my Marowak took out the totem Lurantis in 2-3 hits. I can’t remember the exact details though, I beat all but two of the totems in three turns or less. Totem Salazzle got beaten in one move 😛

      • I’m the only one of my IRL friends who hasn’t used Toucannon (two haven’t finished the game but have it or it’s prevo in their team), I swapped my Toucannon out.

          • Well at Least Magearna has a cute little pokeball dress and is a robot. I mean that more than makes up for whatever design flaws you made up for it in your head
(Btw idk if I’m clear I’m not being super serious about this like you can like toucan on if ya want)

          • (XD I know)
Hey, if I saw how ugly I was, I’d curl up into a ball and cry too. That’s probably why it’s so shaky.

          • At least Magearna is a fair robot lady who can sweep your team before you even realize what happened. Toucannon emotes like he can only see itself in the mirror

          • At least Toucannon looks like it has emotions. Magearna looks like its mind is blank the the whole time. Just because a mon is viable doesn’t mean it looks good, cause Ferrothorn is waving a spiny tentacle hello in that regard

          • Magearna has emotions, you just don’t see it much in battle because it is immensely unimpressed by your team that has been disgraced by Toucannon. She can paralyze you while you think your clever boosting your stats only to steal them while you. Can’t move. Then proceeds to destroy your team one by one all while dressed in a dress worn by only the most royal of robot queens. Her adorable bunny ears twitch because she can only hear the screams of your Pokemon who want nothing more than for you to forfeit so hey don’t have to face this beauty of machinery.

          • It’s too bad Diancie existed before it, because the dress actually worked there. That body it has doesn’t even matter cause it’s just a vessel for an artificial soul. If you want a cuter bunny, look at Buneary, or for that matter a real bunny. And its original form? The red one? It looks like it has yellow rimmed watermelons poking out of its head. It even gets explosion and honestly? I’d put myself out of my misery if I was a Magearna too

          • Lopunny is cute but in a different way (don’t take that in that way no -.-) and sure, it’s red looking one isn’t too great and it may seem to be just a robo-Diancie, but it doesn’t have a rock jutting out of the bottom of it, instead replaced by actual legs. Magearna slays and it does it while looking adorable

          • But does it really? Does it really look appealing? Cause a Magearna looks best once Earthen finishes with it

Toucannon looks like he’s ready to slaughter the entirety of the league than angrily sell you fruit loops and hunt you down if you buy other cereals

          • Well while your gross bird is selling out, allow me to break down the majesty of Magearna since you clearly don’t understand

            http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/media/uploads/june_14_assets/magearna.png

Firstly, the legs. An improvement on Diancies rock bottom (oh dang that pun) because it can walk down the street watching peasants like you like a true queen. Then the dress which you seem to be in denial about how cute it is. Working in the pokeball aesthetic as well as being where most of it is stored for energy conservation as well as being in “not giving a shit” mode. We have her soul heart here which absorbs the life energy of all who die around it. This thing probably hires bounty hunters to bring trash Pokemon like Toucannon towards it and she spares them because she doesn’t want it’s filth. It’s head contains two shining eyes that shine in the dark and is often the only thing you see before you are Fleur Cannon’d into oblivion. Lastly the ears which I have already explained can hear the screams of Pokemon inside their pokeballs. Despite all of this power and aggression it seems to have, it actually has great elegance and is truly one of the best steel types in the game

          • All I’m seeing is an awkwardly stumbling robot wearing a dress shaped like a ball that rusted its original color away because people realized how ugly it was and threw it into the trash where it belongs.

          • They see it as the event legend they have to swallow down unwillingly before actually getting to the good stuff

    • Decidueye (Mordecai, Bottle capping his way onto my competitive team
Geoff (Araquanid, soon to get a name change as he bottle caps along with Mordecai)
Sanic (Togedemaru, The bad IVs were strong with this one)
4chan (Salazzle, more bad IVs, I got a new one now
Kommo-o (Never thought of a nickname, same as above)
Pallossand (Took a lot of debating before choosing to use him, ending up being the only reason I won against the E4)

I think I’ll wait until tomorrow to scan though, so I can get it on an even numbered date…
