  1. Okay, can someone tell me what the hell is the deal with the forced Wishiwashi encounters on Brooklet Hill? I was going to catch the first one (lv. 17), but I defeated it, saved after and screwed up that encounter.
As such, I’m trying to catch the second one (lv. 18). And wtf?! It calls for help 100% of the time, even at full health & paralyzed, starting from turn 1. I tried to catch it before it could call for help by throwing a Net Ball at it right away. Well, it has a catch rate of 60, so no luck there (only managed to capture it once but it had bad IVs). I decided to catch one of the allies.
Weird thing: even though the original Wishiwashi is always calling for help, if you kill it after it calls an ally, the ally alone doesn’t call for help (or if it does, it does so very rarely). Another weird thing: the allies it calls are either always male or always female (again, it does seems so). That’s actually okay, cause I want a male one, so I just reset until the allies it calls are always male.
But that brings me to the next problem: Synchronize is not working on the allies. I know that for chaining allies, you need the Synchronizer on the field and the first pokemon in your party (fainted or not) with the nature you want. So, now I have a quiet nature fainted -mon in the 1st slot and my Kadabra on the field. I caught a few of them (5 or 6) to test and none of the allies had the quiet nature. Like, why? It worked before on a previous chain. What’s the problem with this encounter? Did they programmed it this way on purpose?
I know I can fish for one after the trial, but a random encounter is not as good as a forced one and I already wasted the first adrenaline orb you get in the game (route 4) on that other chain I did and I don’t feel like waiting until the third trial to be able to buy more. By that time, I won’t need the wishiwashi anymore. Is there any way around this? I thought about chaining the allies until the ones with 4 perfect IVs appear, catch one of those and then breed, but how am I going to check the IVs of the baby at this point in the game?

    • Yeah, catching those forced encounters is really hard. That’s what I tried to do for my wishiwashi, but ended up killing them all on accident. I would just wait until after the trial honestly to catch a wishiwashi. That’s what I did and I didn’t have any synchronizer so it was tricky. But as far as catching one with good IV’s, I would just wait till you beat the main quest and get to the battle tree to worry about IV’s. You can catch or breed a better wishiwashi later since there’s really no way to check at that point in the game. I think I settled with a Quiet natured Wishiwashi (don’t know how many IV’s yet) and the thing is still a beast. It can tank so many shots.

        • I think I caught one of the forced encounter ones but its nature was bad enough that I felt the need to search for another 😛 But it took me like 18 wishiwashi till I got a quiet one from fishing

      • I wanted to catch it now so I wouldn’t have to do it later. I know we don’t need to care much about natures and IVs to beat the game, but I try to get good pokémon anyway.

    • Wait….are you talking about the Wishiwashi that you encounter during Lana’s Trial? If so you can’t catch them. During a Trial you aren’t allowed to catch Pokemon so those Wishiwashi aren’t for sale unfortunately lol

      • No, you can catch those wishiwashi that she asks you to investigate. The trial doesn’t actually start until right before you battle totem wishiwashi

        • Oooooooooooh!! I guess I didn’t think of that. It never crossed my mind as I didn’t have any intention of using Wishiwashi. Wow. The more you know, right? lol

  2. I’m kinda sad we never got that scorpion legendary that everyone was predicting there to be Dx

Side note: I feel like Necrozma will be able to transform sort of like genesect can in a future game. Its body is just so weird looking.

    • It would be cool if Necrozma has another form that is a scorpion and gains the Poison typing and learns Poison-type moves next generation or the sequel/third installment of the 7th gen games.

It’ll be based on the constellation, Scorpio.

  3. Got my Magearna QR code scanned. I hope they do more like this. It was so easy, plus it adds to the Island scanner bar. So much easier and more useful than having to “download” The Pokemon from a WiFi signal/internet signal.

    • There should be an event where you have to bring it to Po Town and it uses the Soul Heart to restore the place to its former glory it once was, a glorified Azoth Kingdom.

  4. I just got Magearna, but what do you nickname a Magearna?! I haven’t nicknamed a Mythical Pokemon since Victini in Black!

I’m making it different this time around and doing something that I almost never do–naming legendaries. That includes the tapus and UBs.

  5. Just got to 50% on my Alolan dex! 😛 I know people who are already at 100%, but that hasn’t been my priority lately. What is everybody else at?

  6. It’s almost impossible to win at battle tree without a competitive team and it’s almost impossible to get the destiny knot cause it requires Battle points. Trying to get it with pick up but all I can find is sun/moon stones and rare candies

    • You and me both with Destiny Knot struggles…however, I’ve done pretty well in the Battle Tree with the Snorlax, Oricorio (Electric) and Minior from my playthrough team. I use Feather Dance a couple times, then I send in my Minior to Shell Smash and SWEEP! :0

    • I got blown back first time by someone’s Walrein. I had Decidueye, Mandibuzz, and Golisopod. Mursharna was first, and anticipating a Psychic-type move, I switched to Mandibuzz, aptly named Kabula due to the eyelashes. Then they switched to Walrein for a stall/sweep.

Needless to say, while I still love Walrein, I despise anyone’s Walrein running Stockpile, Rest, Snore, and Frost Breath holding a Chesto berry.
