Mascot Pokémon Showdown: Generation V

Hello everybody, we’re bringing you another Mascot Pokémon Showdown. The winner of last time is Giratina with 56%!
Now it’s time for Unova. Generation V released in 2010 in Japan and in 2011 in the rest of the world. This time, the generation consisted of four games: Black, White, Black 2 and White 2, and introduced amazing features, such as seasons, triple and rotation battles and the Pokémon World Tournament

Pokémon Black Version

black_en_boxartPokémon Black featured Reshiram, the Vast White Pokémon. It is a Dragon/Fire Pokémon that contains almost entirely out of fluff. By flaring the enormous engine-like tail, it can move the atmosphere of the world, which changes the weather.

Reshiram is the only Pokëmon known to be able to learn Fusion Flare and Blue Flare. Together with Zekrom, they were first shown on the Japanese and English website on the same date, which makes them the first two to be revealed worldwide simultaneously. Its name comes from ‘shiro‘ (白, ‘white’) and ‘re‘, which is just a softer sound than ‘ze‘.

Pokémon White Version

Pokémon White showcased Zekrom, the Deep Black Pokémon, white_en_boxarton its cover. He has a Dragon/Electric-typing with small black wings coming from its shoulders. Like Reshiram, Zekrom has an engine-like tail, but this one produces lightning bolts.

Zekrom has the highest Attack, Defense, and base stat total of all Electric Pokémon. It’s Ken Sugimori’s favorite Pokémon of Generation V. Its name is a combination of ‘kuro‘ (黒, ‘black’) and ‘ze‘, which is just a harder sound than ‘re‘.

Pokémon Black 2 Version

black_2_en_boxartOn the case of Pokémon Black 2 is Black Kyurem, a combination of Kyurem and Zekrom. It keeps Zekrom‘s arms, but is much more muscular than it. Its left arm, wing and lower jaw are completely covered in ice.

Black Kyurem has the highest Attack stat of all Ice Pokémon, and together with White Kyurem, it has the highest base stat total of all Ice-type Pokémon. Despite being larger than before it fused, it’s actually lighter than Kyurem. Its name comes from ‘rei‘ (冷, ‘cold’),  ‘kyuurei‘ (急冷, ‘rapid cooling’) and ‘rei‘ (零, ‘zero’).

Pokémon White 2 Version

Unlike all other generations, this generation had 2 upgraded white_2_en_boxartversions instead of one. On the second version, Pokémon White 2, you can see White Kyurem on the cover. This is a fusion of Kyurem and Reshiram. Its right wing, head plume and upper jaw are frozen.

White Kyurem has the highest Special attack stat of all Ice-type Pokémon, and, as mentioned before, the highest base stat total of all of them. It’s also the tallest Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

  1. For me its like this

    I voted for Zekrom

    • Ooooo. For me it’s…. ok tried to do it and I can’t. Including the third for each trio makes it easy for me to have favorites but just the mascot duos… I like them all pretty much equally.

  4. Also I would like some suggestions for my Moon team. It can’t be any of the below and my starter will be Litten. I do plan on using Alolan Raichu and Araquanid so that leaves 3 spots open

  5. This is a hard decision…as these are my least favorite box legendaries of all time. I went with Reshiram just because Black version is the only successful Nuzlocke I’ve gotten through.

  6. Alright so my team so far (Just all put at their highest form none are though)
    Primarina
    Muk
    Lycanroc
    Beware

    Want to add
    Togedemaru
    Tsareena

    What do you guys think?

    Reply
    • What Lycanroc is it? I really like Alolan Muk. You have good coverage. If using Togedemaru I suggest giving it Steelium Z if you want a remotely worthwhile steel move.

      • It’s will be Midnight I have moon Oh and my abilities are
        Brionne- Torrent
        Rockruff- Keen Eye
        Grimer- Poison Touch
        Stufful- Klutz

And What Steel moves does Togedemaru learn I thought it only learned Gyro Ball?

        Reply
        • Rockruff would be better with it’s HA because No Guard Stone Edge is one of Midnights best things. Klutz is generally aweful, even Cute Charm would be better. Despite gaining a weakness to fire Fluffy is the Serperior ability imo.
Togedemaru also gets Flash Cannon which is useless on it. Gyro Ball is weak because it’s fast, even with minimum speed IV’s, no EV’s and a speed hindering nature it’s not good. At least it lets you use the Physical Steel Z-Move.

          Reply
    • That’s decent, though there’s really no Electric type you can add in Alola not named Oricorio that will not increase your ground weakness in that team.

Instead of Togedemaru you can try Skarmory (for steel) or Palossand/Mudsdale (ground)

  7. My team during my run:
    Incineroar
    Snorlax
    Toucannon
    Gosliopod
    Alola Muk
    Vikavolt

    • I got
      Incineroar
      Toucannon
      Charjabug (hopefully a Vikavolt soon!
      Mudsdale
      Toxapex
      A. Ninetails

Have to say I’m happier with this team than I thought I’d be. Maybe one of my most favorite teams yet lol

      • One of my Favorite teams too I got my Favorite Water type (Popplio), My Favorite Electric type (Togedemaru), Useful and Cool Pokémon (Beware, Tsareena), Favorite Rock type (Lycanroc), And a Great Poison type (Muk)

    • My team, by the end of my game.
      Decidueye
Ash-Greninja(Since it has the powered up stats and is the closest thing to Mega Evolution during the normal play through.
      Salazzle(First game I’ve used a Poison type.)
      Kommo-o
Alolan Vulpix(I breed a Alolan Ninetales to get Moonblast but then I realized I had used my only Ice Stone…….)
Solgaleo(Since I had an open spot on my team. It will be replaced with a Primarina.)

I tried to use a team with the the main typing Fairy, Ghost and Dragon. But Salazzle takes one of the Dragon spots and Greninja takes the Ghost spot. I figured they would work.

Not certain (usually a train spot or a possible entry slot for Solgaleo?)

  8. But the way I am now 4 trials in and beaten Olivia and I am yet to find something to challenge me in these games. Am I doing something wrong? Should I not be using EXP share?

    Team:
    Dartrix
    Lycanrock
    Salandit

    Toucannon
    Shiny Golbat
    Crabrawler…

The last three are just there as placeholders and to siphon exp until I can fill the rest of my team…

    Reply
    • I recommend using EXP share. You might be overleveled now but once you reach Poni Island and everything after that you’ll notice it came in handy

      Reply
      • But everyone was saying how the Totems were challenging and I haven’t found that to be true at all…hmm…maybe I’ve just been lucky so far.

        Reply
        • The only Totem that really made me sweat a bit was Lurantis, despite having a overleveled Trumbeak, which actually got killed by Lurantis

          Reply
          • That could be a reason. I’d say spoiling myself on the strategies that the Totems use has allowed me to be ready for them, But the team I’m using is the one I planned before I knew any of this information…

        • Same my team just destroyed totems easily
          Torracat easily KO’d Gumshoos
Wishiwashi was the only rematch only because of the Alomamola but the rematch Mudbray Bulldozed it
Then Mudbray 1HKO’d Salazzle not breaking a sweat
Lurantis yawn Fire Fang done deal
          Vikavolt Two Accelerocks
Mimikyu even easier two Heavy Slams done
And Kommo-o I just used High Horsepower a bunch and it was dead

          Reply
          • One Brick Break on Raticate
Couple of Razor Leafs on Wishiwashi
Couple of Rock Throws on Salazzle
            Couple of Plucks on Lurantis…

            So far

I imagine the rest will go
            Lycanrock destroys Vikavolt
            Decidueye and Slazzle destroy Mimikyu
Not sure about Kommo-o yet, but if Decidueye gets a strong flying move it will likely be done as well.

    • Exp Share and Z-moves make the game easy. I didn’t use either and found the game quite challenging especially since I didnt do any grinding except for catching all the pokemon in an area.

      Reply
      • I haven’t even used Z-moves yet.

And honestly i hate this new exp share, but the game is too tedious to play without an exp share.

I want the old style Exp share back, that had good balance between preventing over leveling and not making things tedious with switch training..

  9. Also, GUYS I FOUND A SHINY ZUBAT LAST NIGHT!!! I started chaining because it kept calling for help, and I figured I should continue the streak, but after like an hour I ran away on accident! I did something else for like an hour to cool off, and then I went back in, and after 10 minutes or so I caught it! I named it “Citrus” because of the lime green coloring. 😀
