Combat Power Nerfs & Buffs Coming to GO

As usual, Niantic has released some details on their next update for Pokémon GO!

This time around the latest update to their popular mobile game will make adjustments to the Combat Power of several Pokémon: increasing the CP of Pokémon such as Alakazam, Rhydon, and Gengar (mentioned specifically), and lowering the CP of other, unspecified Pokémon.

In the words of Niantic, “These changes will allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in Gyms. We will continue to adjust the CP going forward to improve the game balance when necessary.”

No word on an official list of all the effected Pokémon, however if you open up the app the changes to CP have already been implanted! Check out Niantic’s official blog for their full statement!

In addition to this, in celebration of Thanksgiving, starting November 22nd users will be able to enjoy a week of double XP and Stardust!

    • I wish that VGC had a side tournament of singles. I can’t win in doubles for the life of me, but I’m actually pretty good in singles.

      • Doubles is definitely harder, imo. My brain struggles to predict what my opponent wants to do in doubles. In OU I’ve made some hella pro calls and won because of them. But VGC I’m just like… uuuh. I THINK I should Protect this turn? lol

          • Eh. Only sub 600 base stat Legendaries get in. Other than weird years like last year. So the pseudos have higher BSTs.

          • It’s more personal preference than anything. I like teams that try to use more uncommon strategies that don’t use them, like your team for instance.

It’s not just VGC either, during the main story and everything I despise legendary Pokemon.

  1. The Champion battle was the most difficult Champion I’ve faced since Steven Stone in Ruby. Took me a few attempts, holy crap the bulk on some Pokemon and the fact that my moves would miss at the most inopportune times was frustrating…but all the more fun because of the challenge. Now back then I was a kid and didn’t know any better, but for my playthrough of Moon, I had rules of Battle Style on “set” and no healing items during battles. I broke the no healing items rule the time I won ;~; But only because I wanted Decidueye to finish off the fight with Sinister Arrow Raid…I still would’ve won because my last Pokemon was Magmortar at full health. I love this game, I want to play it again!

  2. Okay I seriously need tips for totem mimikyu. I’ve lost 3 times now. My team is:
    Dartrix LV 31
    Minior LV 31
    Crabrawler LV 29
    Salandit LV 30
    Golisopod LV 31
    Komala LV 30

    Here are some issues:
    – Komala can’t touch them at all. It literally can’t do anything.
    – Salandit has toxic, which was my strategy, but it can’t get off any moves before being OHKO’d by shadow claw.
    – Minior has gyro ball but can’t withstand more than 2 turns, and I use one of those knocking out the disguise.

    Any ideas?

      • It’s mostly Bulu and Koko, Lele is quite rare, probably because it screws over Prankster and Triage, and Fini has the worst Terrain for doubles

        • Yeh I can imagine. Bulu and Koko probably have the least draw backs. Lele will screw with fake out shenanigans and Fini is kind of useless. I guess weather (specifically rain) will be as dominant as ever. I honestly don’t see Hail becoming that popular despite its buffs, Rain is just too good.

          • I’ve been running Hail + Grassy Terrain, it cancels out Hail’s negatives whilst letting Aurora Veil, Blizzard and Slash rush proper.

But Rain and Sun are Definetley going to be more prominent, I actually feel Sun will be more dominant since its setters aren’t weak to electric or grass which is a huge boon with Koko and Bulu running about
