Combat Power Nerfs & Buffs Coming to GO

As usual, Niantic has released some details on their next update for Pokémon GO!

This time around the latest update to their popular mobile game will make adjustments to the Combat Power of several Pokémon: increasing the CP of Pokémon such as Alakazam, Rhydon, and Gengar (mentioned specifically), and lowering the CP of other, unspecified Pokémon.

In the words of Niantic, “These changes will allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in Gyms. We will continue to adjust the CP going forward to improve the game balance when necessary.”

No word on an official list of all the effected Pokémon, however if you open up the app the changes to CP have already been implanted! Check out Niantic’s official blog for their full statement!

In addition to this, in celebration of Thanksgiving, starting November 22nd users will be able to enjoy a week of double XP and Stardust!

    • You need to have a dye place in your festival plaza, then you pick the color and they will tell you the berries required. You also need a “white” version of the clothing you want to dye.

Said dye place also sells clothes of a particular color.

  1. Random tip: When SOS chaining, you can just use another Adrenaline Orb to waste a turn without using up a move. It also doesn’t consume an additional Adrenaline Orb.

  2. Pokedex on Dugtrio:
“These pokemon are cherished in the Alola Region, where they are thought to be feminine deities of a land incarnate” huh, that’s interesting.

  3. So… What’s the story with the three Murkrows on Route 15? I saw a twitter post with a screenshot of a person between the three of them with a caption of, “This game has murder”, but I just found the Murkrow and no person.

In a bad mood, I wander into the center and the game freezes for a minute. I’m thinking, “Oh shxt, now my game’s frozen. When did I last save?” But it turns out the game just lagged to pop off firecrackers and wish me happy bday. All these years, I’ve really underestimated that feature ^_^ I missed the firecrackers but here’s the cake lol.

    • Ah, so it is your birthday. Happy Birthday???

I tend to forget that it is my birthday (or when it’s my birthday already) so it’s always a pleasant surprise if anyone greets me, including games like Pokemon or Fire Emblem.

      • Yeah it is, and thanks! Lol.
Same boat, I completely forgot that it was my birthday today because I’ve been drowning in schoolwork… And simultaneously trying to find time to play Pokemon Moon <.<

    • I remember that. In X/Y, I was really worried when the game screen was dark, I was OH NO! It’s broken! However after they screamed surprise I realized it was purposely.

  5. well, looks like smogon decided to ban Zygarde Complete. I don’t follow smogon rules, but I do like knowing why, turns out it has an HP stat similar to Blissey.

      • Huh, all this time I wondered why ok stat spread but abnormally large HP qualified it as legendary. Question answered.

        • It’s crazy, it can PP Stall Ho-oh, and setup sweep with Coil.

All it needs to do while it’s 50% Zygarde is ensure it doesn’t die, and take enough damage to get below 50% health (easy with practice, by switching into various predicted non-Dragon non-Ice attacks). After that, the terror can begin.

        • i’m thinking of using exp share everytime my pokemon are underleveled compared to strong trainers or using it the whole time, but i’m not sure yet and tomorrow i’m getting the game.

          • if you don’t use the exp share the game is going to hit you like a brick by the second island and basically murder you past that

          • well my I had a brionne by that point (it evolved right before half fight) and then it evolved again right after the second island kahuna, so I’m going to say about level 16-18

          • Even with exp share, it’s hard to overlevel by significant amount unless you really explore or try to catch all Pokemon on a route. Like Gen 5 experience gain is reduced when you’re higher level than the encounter.

          • I will just keep battling every trainer in my way and do sometimes an explore to routes that I like, thanks for the advice tho!

          • With respect to my team. I had exp. share on for only a little bit before turning it off before the first Island Trial-when I thought I was near the first island Kahuna’s Pokémon level. I should have turned it back on before reaching Po town, because it was at that point that my Pokémon were under leveled compared to my opponents. There is also a big jump of five levels from the strongest trainer on the third island and the fourth island. It is best to keep that in mind.

          • Well I wouldn’t do that necessarily. I didn’t have too hard of a time without it. What I would recommend is if you have reached a point where trainers have Pokémon levels above you and it is difficult. I would turn Exp share on and grind in the tall grass nearby. I also rotated some Pokémon in and out because I realized I didn’t like them as much as I thought, so the time and exp. spent leveling them up took away what could have gone to other Pokémon. What I am trying to say is play in a way that you feel you will have the most fun.

  7. Will finally be getting Sun either today or tomorrow, usually Game are good with pre-orders and ship a day earlier than released but I guess we’ll see!
Can’t wait to build up my team and get started. Also to not make it as easy for me since I’m gonna have all 3 starters on my team (start with Litten then hopefully get the other two via trading), I’ll seek them out maybe one after Hala then one after Olivia, makes it fair that way (since I’m able to get Litten, Grubbin & Rockruff on the Melemele)

  8. I’ve liked Minior a lot ever since it was announced, but getting to with it has made it once of my favorites of the generation. Though admittedly, I’m in love with almost all the Pokémon from this gen.
