Combat Power Nerfs & Buffs Coming to GO

As usual, Niantic has released some details on their next update for Pokémon GO!

This time around the latest update to their popular mobile game will make adjustments to the Combat Power of several Pokémon: increasing the CP of Pokémon such as Alakazam, Rhydon, and Gengar (mentioned specifically), and lowering the CP of other, unspecified Pokémon.

In the words of Niantic, “These changes will allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in Gyms. We will continue to adjust the CP going forward to improve the game balance when necessary.”

No word on an official list of all the effected Pokémon, however if you open up the app the changes to CP have already been implanted! Check out Niantic’s official blog for their full statement!

In addition to this, in celebration of Thanksgiving, starting November 22nd users will be able to enjoy a week of double XP and Stardust!

    • I watched the first half of the first season of XY. It’s as corny as Pokémon has always been. Though Bonnie, Clemont’s little sister, is legitimately funny.
I heard really good things about XYZ and watched the League finals which were epic. But I didn’t watch anything else.
Watched the first two episodes of SuMo and I’m hooked.

      • I have to watch things from the start to get into them properly, so I’ll have to watch all of XYand XYZ. I have it all recorded, just not got to it yet. I will prob start Sun and Moon (after a break) after I finish it, even if they literally threw it out the window at the beginning.

  1. I need help planning the last two members of my team. Currently, I have Dartrix, Salandit, Charjabug and Crabrawler. For my other two, I want them to have types not shared by my other four, and they must be Alola Pokémon. I’m about to fight Olivia. Biggest priority is type coverage, so dual types preferred.

  2. I just beat Lusamine for the 2nd time, it was really underwhelming. Was able to set up +6 with Alola Raichu thanks to some RNG help, and it was a clean sweep from there. But the build-up and the atmosphere were omg. And with that ending, how is this game Rated E?

        • Well first you need a two good IV pokemon, even just one stat. Basically it is randomly generated, but once you get the max/31 you just need to breed it together until all of the good stats are on 1 Pokemon.

With everstone you can keep the nature of the mom/dad and with destiny bond you can copy 5 of parent’s iv’s instead of 3.

Normally i’d just send you a “6iv” ditto to get started but I have those locked up in gen 6 for now.

If you want something good I suggest trying to get a quick to hatch mon that has 2 egg groups (e.g. magikarp, snubbull) and try to make a 6iv out of it so you can use it as a parent.

It’ll take me forever to explain it just search for pokemon breeding guide. The gen 6 ones still generally work except the locations are different and you can check IV’s on the status screen.

          • woah woah hold on there, I think you mean Destiny KNOT not Destiny BOND not trying to call you out, just don’t want to mislead anyone.

          • Wait I know this actually. Probably should have read the comment. Oy I’m sorry. I meant if there was a way to guarentee a Pokemon with at least 1 maxed out IV. Like Friend safari sort of. You don’t have to respond, I feel bad for making you type that whole comment. But once again thank you for taking the time!!! 😀

          • Oh gotchya… Thank you that certainly helps, I’ll test that out during post game… Still haven’t beaten the game yet… But I like to be prepared 😀

  4. For those who have already gottten past this point. So I just got to Ultra Space with Lillie and the Lunala. I think I am about to face Lusamine. How screwed am I from a scale of 1 to 10 with a team like this:
    Crabrawler lv.49
    Alola Persian lv. 49
    Mimikyu lv.48
    Zygarde 10% lv.48
    Salazzle lv.49
    Primarina lv.49

    • the trainer has pokemon in the low 50’s. i’d say pick your moves and type matchups correctly and you’ll be fine, but their first pokemon is a monster of a wall. (also, if you notice, the pokemon on their team all have sinister expressions, except for Bewear because bewear doesn’t have a mean bone in its fluffy body)

  5. NPC: “this pokemon still doesn’t trust you enough yet”
Me: “B*tch, this is my starter pokemon, and she’s level 65. WTF are you talking about?!?”
